I know I sure am tempted by the Billet Box! Been eyeing it the past few months. The price pulls me up a bit short, though. And, as mentioned, I'm wondering about that tank and if it leaks...how much the tank costs.. and how hard to get replacements...etc. It's mighty sweet looking!

Meanwhile...for my money...the Vmod XL is hard to beat! 9 ml of juice on board with a 2000 mAh 18650 battery is hard to beat! Could last days before needing a refill or new battery for an average vaper. And for extreme chain vapers like me, it's still an all day vape!

I still don't get tanks... Every one I have bought ended up leaking or I had problems with feeding and was more hassle and costly than I was able to stand. Yeah, the Billet Box is a good looking box and all, but again, it has a tank... In my opinion, it is a set up for failure for me, but then again the Phidias seemed to be a great seller. I guess its all in the hands of the user and what they want. If I was going to spend that much money on a box mod, it would be a REOs or a Bogger Box mod... With the exception of buying The Natural and pairing it with an Igo-L, I am pretty much a bottom feeder guy now... Don't think that will ever change! Have you ever seen some of the boxes that Str8 Mods makes? Looks very similar to the Billet Box. The Str8tek is a 6Amp 30W dual 18650 variable voltage bottom feeder. Very nice stuff and priced $125-$140 shipped form New Jersey. He hangs out mostly in the modders section of the forum.

I would be interested in reading up on that. Is there a certain thread about it.
Been looking at these for a back up to the billet box I will be hopefully getting this go around. I have never had a bottom feeder so it would be a learning curve as well as cartos....:). Heck it is all a learning curve at this point....LOL
Although I think I will wait for their half off sales. Wonder how often they have them?
wow my budget is spent!

!

On a side note, have you ever read through the XL thread on the forum. There is a ton of info and tips on Vmods in general over there. Here is the link... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...0-bottom-feeding-mod-vapage-com-part-2-a.html

I did read through some of that thread...that's how I found out about washing the chassis! lol! And yes...it DID help. And no...my Vmod didn't have any leaks. I think it's just the accumulated "gunk" that gets in that little hole that feeds the chamber (or maybe the one feeding directly to the carto/atty) that might cause some problems. I know I read that Vmods "like baths".

As for that thread...Dude...it's so BURIED! If you don't know to look in the "video review" section, a newer person to this forum won't EVER find it! Only reason I found it was looking up videos for the Vmod on Google. It's not in a place I would have looked for discussions about the Vmod. I would have looked here...where I started this thread! :D

I'm not sure how often they have the BIG sales. I got the impression the half off thing is every few months (they just had one). If you sign up for their newsletter on their site, you'll get emails telling you about their sales. Also, if you are on Facebook, you can "like" them and get other coupons. Or that's the impression I got from others here at ECF.

Love my 2.0 it is my go to device and I have quite a few LOL all I use are the hybrid atties I DIY my own unflavored juice at 30%PG 70%VG and it works great for these atties no special trick to it... Don't know why so many people seem to have problems using them maybe the juice you have is too thin? I am waiting for the next sale to get a XL.

Well...now you mention it...I'm giving the hybrid atty I got with the kit another go. And I seem to be getting better at it! I still tend to flood and clog from over squeenking (squonking). I think my current issue is because my battery is kinda low...probably under 3.6 by now, and that might have some factor in my difficulties. It was working great there for about an hour and a half earlier. Surprised the heck outta me!

[EDIT] Okay..changed battery and things seem to be going along pretty good again. I seem to start having trouble with the Vmod any time the battery gets around 3.6 or less...kind of strange. Most mechanicals go fine until around 3.5, but this one seems to struggle at 3.6. No biggie really. I have a pile of batteries to switch out!

X2 with the batts another reason I want an XL, I swap batts at least 4 times a day in the 2.0 but I have a total of eight batteries six in rotation two are new and unused as of now. I just switched out to a vender juice I bought some time back to test my thoughts on the thinner juice and seems I am flooding it now with the 80/20 PG/VG. Maybe you could try a 50/50 blend? For me the thicker juice works better with the hybrid atty.

Naw..thanks anyway. But VG and I don't get along at all. It messes with my sinuses big time, and makes my throat feel coated so I gag. Plus I just don't like that weird sickly sweetish flavor in it. I DIY and make my juice 85PG/15VG It's little enough it doesn't bother me physically, yet gives a little bump to my vapor without interfering with my flavor and TH (which I'm pretty fussy about).

I'm getting better and better at this atomizer thing, now. Squeenking is a definite must...squonk and I get a flood. But with a light touch and an occasional drip or two from the top (if it's been sitting awhile) it's okay. I still like the Silo cartos and the super shorty cartos best...they require less minding and watching and tending. But I'm glad I'm "getting it" with the atomizers. Just got the 2 I ordered from Vapage a few days ago. I figured it'd be good to have 'em around for back up and certain occasions.

Totally understand where you are comming from since PG bothers me LOL everyone is different. I have been using the same atty for over a month and with weekly cleaning it is still going strong the cartos just don't last that long but they are cheaper so it really is a wash. I tried some super short cartos a while back I think they were 1.7 ohm smoketec and they seemed to flood horrible for me, might give one a go again tonight. The silo cart did work well for me while it lasted still have one unopened, I liked it cause I did not need to sqonk so much like with the atty I find myself sqonking every third time I get a hit.

After reading the post about the success with the hybrid atty I decided to try it again, to no avail. First it was burnt tasting so I squonk the heck out of the bottle , still burnt so I added 3 drops into the atty and now the damn thing is flooded. I don't get it! There is a B&M store opening Saturday just down the road from me and I'll see if they can help me with this &*#**%$ thing. I really want to use these attys because when it was working for a hour it was wonderful vaping!!! The taste from the atty can't compare with the silo taste. I have huge success with the silo carts and have been using the same one for 6 weeks.

As for the Vapage sales they come out with a different sale every Tuesday. Hopefully, they will have the buy one get one, free sale soon. Oh yeah, then I will own 4 of them. Yikes, lol.

I was wondering the same thing about the Billet Box and leaking. I'd hate to drop $180 to have it leak and will definitely do more research before buying. Does anyone have a link to BB discussion threads. I couldn't find one. I'd like to talk with someone who has one.

Remember tippyclubb...SQUEENK! A light touch is best! What I did was drop several drops on top and let it sit for a few minutes. Maybe 5 or 10? Then I put it in the Vmod and tip it and lightly tap/squeeze the bottle and try a taste. It may not be wet enough...so try the turn upside down, wait for bubbles then turn right side up and squeenk. Draw gently to start...don't drag hard.

I had to work with it a bit and get a sort of rhythm-feel for things. Still get some flooding and spitting, but it's getting better all the time!

Here's the "official Billet Box thread". I followed it for a couple of months, but then cooled on the idea eventually. A couple of reasons, really. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modder-accessories-supplier-forum/357383-billet-box.html

I'd like to try setting my 9 ml bottle in my XL Vmod for blind squonking...try it out. But I have a problem. I don't use Vivi Novas or rebuildable clearo gizmos. Wonder if anyone has a old worn out one (at least the little plastic bit in the how-to instructions in the link above) that they wouldn't mind contributing to me? If any one had a spare bit of the tubing stuff that would be cool, too. Maybe we could work out some sort of trade? PMs welcome! :nun:

Edit...oops. I guess it's the little metal bit from the replaceable clearo thingy...the bottom bit? It's right there in the link the thing needed. Whatever it is! lol!

Edit #2 I don't suppose a Kanger T2 has one of those bottom piece things? I do have a couple of those a vendor sent me by mistake...

Sorry, I don't have any Kangers to see if there's a similar part. Effectively, all you need is a screw or a nail that fits inside your tube, with a hole through the center of it. You may be able to get one in automotive stores -- if I understand correctly, car carburetors have lots of those inside. It may be cheaper to just get some $1.50 head for nova/e1/e2/thor/etc and rip it apart.

Oh, something dawned on me, the positive post of an old carto might work too

Thanks Commie! I pulled apart a old cartomizer, but couldn't see how the postive tube gizmo could work. I mean..I guess it could but the top (where the "bolt head" would be) is pretty tall. I don't think there's any way to get a seal with that in the Vmod. And getting a piece of tubing THAT tiny would be a challenge!

One bit of good news. While my experiments with the hybrid atomizer continue to be hit and miss.... I found out that a bit of advice I'd gotten in another thread is apparently quite true: Kanger cartomizers work QUITE well! I got 1.8-2 ohm resistance, and with the coil at the bottom like the Kangers have, it's a smooth, lovely, tasty vape. So far! I'm pleased because these are cheaper than the super shorties. I'm pretty stocked up now with cartos, I think. At least for now. I'll keep trying with the atomizers, though.

Lol, and I don't have any old cartos to rip apart to see :)

The thing is, the metal part does not need to seal, or, for that matter, make contact. All it does is attach the tube to the cap. Doesn't even have to seal either, the seal is achieved between the bottle and the cap anyway.

Thanks yet again. Trouble is...I guess I don't have the right kind of tube or something. It's just a straw (as was mentioned by the OP in that other thread) of food safe plastic. It's really small and does fit in the bottle neck with a bit of room to spare...but it's too big for me to get the carto bit to work, and too small to fit the tube from the T2 inside. I had hoped to use it as a temporary measure until I could order a "proper" tubing....but it's a not go.

I see where I used the word "seal" in my other post. That was a misnomer. I meant that I see it's needed for there to be a little "cap" or "lip" to help hold the tube from wobbling loose from the silicon seal inside the Vmod.

I have a vmod 2.0. I really dig the small size. Sometimes I wish I had gotten the XL so I could kick it, but c'est la vie. As far as the vapage attys go, I really like them. The 1.5ohm one was my fave. You have to keep it really wet. If you do a dry pull, you should hear some gurgling. That's how you know you're gonna get a nice flavorful pull. Squonk the bottle often, and dry pull often. But don't tip unless you get no gurgle whatsoever. That's what works for me anyway.
Now I've tabled my vapage attys (never even tried the silo believe it or not. It's still in the original package waiting for the vape apocalypse lol). I'm now into rbas so I got an A7 for my vmod and it. Is. Spectacular. :headbang:
I've got the burel wood case and I really like the look of it. It is chipping away however :( right down to the metal)
I've washed my chassis but don't do it enough.
I use an AW IMR batt in mine. I feel like it makes a difference during high wattage vaping.

Where do you get your Kanger cartomizers ?

I got my Kangers at Vapor Beast. About $7 for a box, and they had a couple resistance choices. I picked the 1.8-2 ohm LR. You might have a bit of "breaking in" to do...like the Boges...but the primer taste went away really fast for me ( I just did several puffs without really inhaling). Now this first one is broken in good...it's golden.

Edit: I meant to also mention that the Kanger packing/polyfill is much looser than average, so it vapes smoother and closer to an atomizer, really. Boge has such thick packing it can be hard to use with a BF. IMO, anyway.
