Lasttango (an esteemed ECF Veteran) brought this to my attention last year during a huge debate over the amount of flavoring used in juices. Some people only require 10% flavoring, & others want 25%. Why some love a juice & others not so much. We have different body chemistry & can taste the same flavor in drastically different ways.
Nope you're not the only one..when I read the title I though it was going to be about lettuce e-juice lol. I was thinking wow they will try to make any flavor as I clicked on it lol.
i found that in my personal experience i didn't have to eat a tonne of organic food before i started tasting wax, pesticides, and that evil spray in the grocery stores. it's bitter and leaves a funny residue in your mouth, and is super likely. it may be a little more expensive, but that's because the farmers have to invest more money and their working/living conditions are more mindful and of higher quality for them. fair trade in my eyes.
Probably an evolved thing for a reason and maybe some of us are not meant to eat many/certain veggies..maybe our distant relatives evolved in a place it was better to eat more meat to survive or possibly to avoid a certain vegetable that was poison..hard to say though just a guess. Some people have more pointy teeth for eating/tearing meat..I know my K-9's are quite pointy and I see others that have a lot more rounded teeth there.
the presence or absence of that enzyme is probably just normal human variation. stable isotope analysis of human remains suggest a lot of ancient peoples consumed a variety of different plant food where available. if you want to talk about the place of greens in human evolution, well, stable isotopes usually degrade beyond detection in more ancient prehuman species of hominids so there's no current way to tell. same with the canines appearing pointy rather than rounded, it's more likely a result of normal variation.
