We just got some Leviathan juice in the mail. We ordered every flavor except the Ketos. We were so excited about our vape mail that we didn't have the patience to steep. I am positive steeping with improve and change the flavors, but these are my wife's first impressions.
I'm vaping on a Stingray X Mod 1.2 ohm single coil 4.2V battery. This may seem like a negative review, but it is not. These guys have done a great job making the most complex and unique flavors I've tried to date.
Proteus: I was so intrigued by the description, I had to try it out first. The smell of that stuff is awful in plain juice form, and my cats left the room until the vaping odor dissipated. My husband's comment on the odor (before he tasted it) was, "Did you buy men's locker room juice?" However, after a few pulls on the mod, the earthy tones did come out more and it really really grew on me. It reminded me of the smells in a ceramic studio, the smell of the glazes and the clay and the kiln, mixed with the smell of a deep earth cave by an underground spring. There is something else in there I can't put my finger on... something like an antique book. This is not something I'd put in a regular tank and vape all day or even for longer than it lasts on my dripper, but it is great for dripping and is truly the most unique flavor I've ever tried. Some say it has a tobacco flavor, but I did not detect that. Interestingly enough, even as the most complex flavor on this list, it has the fewest ingredients listed on the website.
Megaladon: I typically don't like sweet vanilla/carmel/sweet flavors, but this one is not too sweet and has a very balanced flavor. I liked that there isn't an overpowering cream flavor (some makers use way too much cream and it overpowers the rest of the flavors in the juice). It doesn't remind me of any particular dessert, just a nice smooth dessertesque vape. Maybe a caramel creme brulee with a little cinnamon on top, minus the eggs, with vanilla being the primary flavor (at least unsteeped). I will put this one in one of my manufactured tanks that I carry with me during the day. .
Tiamat: Oh no, that stink again... and the cats are gone. Since I noticed that stink lessened a lot after a few hits on the Proteus, the stink didn't scare me away. This one is very complex. Again, not one I'd put in my all-day vape pen, but I like it a lot. I usually hate fruit flavors but the blackberry in this one is very nice, in fact I hope it comes out more after steeping. I do taste tobacco in this one. After the blackberry aftertaste wears off, the taste from this odor lingers and that makes me not want to vape it for very long. I'm a nurse and sometimes when you smell particularly strong poo, BO, raunchy house, or wound, the smell comes back to your nose at random times for hours and hours. This is the kind of odor that will do that, but not as dramatically. Of course, to each her own, and I am sure some are crazy about that particular taste and it is probably associated with some expensive cigar that I am completely unfamiliar with (as I am unfamiliar with all cigars).
Hydra: Too berry for me, but still a nice berry that did not make me crinkle my nose in disgust (as most fruit flavors do). I did not detect but a very small hint of menthol, but it did not seem like menthol. It was just a very very slight cool sensation on the aftertaste.
I'm hoping these guys isolate what causes that awful stank and remove it. I can see how it would be essential for the Proteus flavor, but the stink limits is usefulness. The stink is kind of like organic unfiltered honey on the comb x10 and came with a strange aftertaste (but not a bad aftertaste). These are very complex flavors and I think that they will improve greatly with steeping. The ethanol odor was so strong when I opened each vial that I wondered if I had bought shots instead. That stank did dissipate after several hits on the mod, so I bet steeping will reduce that aspect a lot (thank goodness). I can tell these guys strive for complex, enigmatic flavors. I like savory and earthy flavors and given the complexity of the Proteus, I bet they can create more variations on that theme (hopefully without the stank!) and I will buy them because it is a whole new realm of flavor possibilities. Despite the stank, the Proteus is still my favorite.
