LG HE2 Battery Question

I picked up some LG HE2 18650's from RTD the other day. They arrived today and I notice there seems to be a dark half circle ring near the top positive terminal. Does anybody know what causes that os what it could be?

RTD would not be sending out salvaged batts, if you think the battery is defective contact RTD and I am sure they will work with you.
