Gay vaper checking in! I've never really had a strong lgbt friend group. My friends have always had other things in common with me, like hobbies and (usually non-sexual) interests. I think looking for friends that have more in common with you is the right move to make... maybe even friends you can vape with ;)

But now I feel left out . :( :D

@aveytare The only folks who can have a tough experience here are those who can't get why vaping at 200W will burn out their coils faster than expected.

I would add those people that believe that true/proper MTL can be achieved with hole bigger than 1mm....:D

To the OP, I don't think you need a new group of friends, personally. They just may not understand vaping very much.

I actually can ALSO understand the desire for friends within the community who vape and support your vaping (although you will get a TON of support here, too, etc.)

I might suggest checking out your local LGBT establishment, if you haven't. You may find some IRL pals who support vaping and your sexual preferences. It can be a great way to find and meet new people who share your interests.

With that said, you are 100% welcome here as a vaper and human being, (we ALL have that in common). So welcome, good luck, and I will say ECF was a LIFESAVER for me when I was starting out. I don't have a ton of "IRL" friends who vape, but there is a great community here who really isn't going to care much if at all about your sexual orientation.

TRUST ME WE ARE FAR MORE INTERESTED IN YOUR MOD. LOL.

Welcome aboard :)

Just a couple of warnings:

You may (like me) get hooked on vaping - develop 'shinyitis' and start buying more and more vape gear

You will often look like an idiot(like me): from lol while reading posts from ECF members ;)

Vaping may turn into a fun hobby - which is a fantastic distraction to keep your mind off ciggys.

For what it's worth/my five cents worth, I know more than a few people who are gay and vape, but only one of them has ever mentioned their sexuality in a vaping forum, and only by posting about a holiday to see their partner, and only then in an offhand way...

I do get why some see leading with LGBT right out if the gate may seem confronting, because the forum is largely a social hub, and as such personal life stuff does get discussed but as happens in real life, it usually comes up organically

I suppose there will always be a small group of asshats that no matter how it came up will be asshats about it, but I choose to believe that's a minority, and hopefully you'll feel welcome by the majority, because ideally your sexuality shouldn't be a measure of or a determiner of how you're treated.

Welcome and enjoy your stay

I didn't realize that LGBT people vape differently and that there is such a thing as LGBT vape culture. What makes their vaping culture different and worthy of even having an LGBT vape culture? Do they all use pink and rainbow colored mods or something?

I would think that anybody who vapes is a part of the vaping community, why the desire to segregate?

I'm going to be honest here. There are the group of LGBT folks who just go about their business.

There is another group who really feel they should be segregated (self segregated) much as the deaf culture will often hope their kid is deaf and if they are, will decline a cochlear implant, etc.

OMG music is one of those things that even in the dregs of suicidality brought me joy, and despite being bipolar I DID NOT PRAY my kid was one, and OMG WAS I RELIEVED when he wasn't. And I am ALL FOR mental health rights more than one would believe.

However all folks think differently and I guess that's what makes the world go round and frankly, even though I have a little bit of well, self-obsession, LOL, I would be entirely bored if the world consisted of all MEs. Etc.

But really, I guess you could enjoy a rainbow vape and that might be slightly be proud and etc., but lots of folks like rainbow so hey, we support. Etc.

Only that's about as silly as saying different minorities have to vape certain colors, but if it's a a self imposed thing well okay. IDK. I do think vaping crosses most economic, racial and etc boundaries.

But it makes politicians CROSS, period. It's good we can segregate at least ONE group. I am of course kidding there must be ONE politican vaper out there surely?

As a plain old married heterosexual man with a kid and a bunch of dogs, maybe I just don't understand....but the whole segregation thing confuses me. I don't care what anybody else does in the privacy of their own homes and I don't expect them to care what I do. I don't have any parades to support my lifestyle or any special flags. It just seems silly to me... But, hey, I'm with @stols001 ....who cares? Whatcha vaping on?

Not being special has its advantages. You can get away with anything.

Imho, we are all a unique demographic. I like to spend time with people I have things in common with as much as the next person.

But I don’t find many places where interests intersect, exception being that many of my birding buddies are also into photography and gardening, which does give additional facets to the friendships.

And there are knitters/crocheters who like dogs and so on.

But if I went looking for a group of widowed vaping sock knitter dog lovers who practice bird photography during Biggest Week, it would be a really small group.

Probably my grief group is closest to me what your lgbt friends are to you. It’s not what I do, it’s who I am. And we do all need those people around who are like us, not just that share hobbies or interests. And if you can find those who are like you AND have similar interests, that’s great.

I have not, yet. I wouldn’t give up the support of my widow/widower friends because they don’t vape, or vice versa.

I'm a knitter, do socks by double kitting, love dogs and gardening but I don't take pictures of birds.
