My mech mods will outlive me, I believe. Just need to change the connector pins & springs, give it a quick clean every now and then (tubes, contacts, threads) and they'll be heirlooms. Then, I can pass them on to my children and they can pass them on to their children and their children's children and their children's children can pass them on to the children's children's children. Ok, I think you guys got the idea.

So the lifespan is limited? ;p

My Tesla stopped working after less than 3 months. It will still test battery voltage, but that's about it. Whenever I try to fire any topper on it, I get the "Short" msg, and I can't easily get to firing pin assembly to even attempt to fix it, (top is press-fit in place). I didn't drop it, get it wet, or otherwise damage it. I'm pretty disappointed. So, I bought a cheap mech mod to replace it, (Sigelei 8D).

hi bros,

As i new to this, please bear with me abit. May i ask what brands of mechanical mods PVs do you recommend and what are their pros and cons?

There are too many mech mods out there to list them. Most veterans will turn to mech soon or later when they get sick and tired of electronic mods. For example, me. I was a provari user and only recently switched to mech after experimenting with RDA.

Anyway, at the top of the line, the king of Mechanical Mods is without a doubt, the GGTS. Been around for a long time, limited stock with each one of them engraved, it is the mech mod everyone soughts for. I haven't met any long time mech user who doesn't have a GGTS. It's the must get, but not as your first since they are expensive.

Other than that, it really depends on your needs. Telescopic mods are common because they fit all batteries. Most mods are telescopic unless it's specially made for one type of battery size.

Next are the button placements. Different mech mods place their buttons differently. Try them out and see which you are most comfortable with.

The current mech mod that everyone is raving over is the Nemesis. It's the current "in" mech mod right now.

With that all being said, if it's your first mech, just get a clone. Clones are dirt cheap and most of the time they are exactly like the original. Since, as stated, they don't have electronics. It's all about the quality in the end.

Now google away and learn everything about mechnical mods.

1. GGTS - The long time king of mechs
2. Nemesis - The current trendy mech
3. BaGua - Meh
4. EA Mod - GGTS clone with a lower than average button. It works, but when you compare it to the GGTS, meh.
5. Kato the Hammer - Just got released. People are going nuts over it. Likely a fad.
6. Screw it, too many mech mods to name. Just surf around ECF and you'll a ton of the other names flying around.

Mech mods are the zippo lighters of the vaping community. Pricier but definitely well worth it.

A zippo lighter is very much similar to a mech mod. Its mechanical and very simple when it comes to parts. You only need to change the wicks and the flint every so often, and of course top it up with gas.Other than that it is very hard for it to spoil completely.

After using both APV and mech mods for some time, if you ask me to choose only one, i would go for the APV. APV give you functions like checking battery voltage, check resistance. Option for you to bump the voltage/wattage up to your personal preference. The biggest reason would be for checking battery life, i wouldn't want to overuse the battery that it will ruin or shorten its lifespan. On an APV i can check time to time and know when it is time for recharging my batteries.

Same. I absolutely require a "V" at the front. Bought an EA, sold it. I'm sure mechs are as good, to those who prefer them, as the "V's" are to me.

Options sure are a wonderful thing. EVERYBODY'S happy!

The "FINE" place
I use both.

Provari with a kayfun lite is my everyday setup when leaving for work. The provari is nearly a year old but it still performs as good as when i bought it.

I use a mech with an rda at home. Easier to drip when you're not driving around all day long. Also shiok to wind down and do major cloud chasing. :vapor:

Thank you very much Xanthon for the valuable info and tips shared. Hope there wont be too much changes before i get to try out the recommendations. :p
