We are also bringing in our new 5 Volt Box Mods, and 3.7 Volt Box mods and new Low Resisitance Cartomizers next week that will compliment the 14500 batteries...
These new 16340 batteries we have are what Ive been waiting for for the XSHaler....The perforamnce of these batteries really shines with the XSHAler....

These are not protected as the IMR chemistry dosent need a PCB as it is inherently safer and much less volatile...The IMR (LiMn) chemistry is capable of delivering higher amps, without causing stress on the cell...
Although the Mah ratings are lower than some LiOn cells, those ratings are calculated at a higher amperage that is never really reached, therefore your mah should be considered much longer...Thanks

Are these protected(pcb?) and also, what makes these better than a standard Lion batt? (pardon the ignorance)
redalert, they dont have a PCB they're a safe chemistry so they're more stable and dont vent or flame..

now for the what makes them better aspect...

lets say you're using a 510 atty at 3.7V on a mod that takes a 14500 battery...

the amp draw on a joye 510 atty at 3.7V is 1.61A (2.47A on a LR atty)...

the max drain rate on a AW protected 14500 battery is 1.5A ....so the battery gets overstressed (leading to reduced overall life of the battery) and doesn't quite put out the power it could...

Now I dont know the discharge C rating on these high drain IMR batteries..
but if they are a 5C discharge like the BDL ones then the max drain rate would be about 3A...so about twice as capable of pushing the power and meeting the amp draw as the regular 14500..

in other words running a LR atty on these won't overstress them

So, if you're not using LR atties, then there is no need for these, or would you still benefit from using them?

not exactly...joye 510 atties too only the overstressing isnt as severe...

other atties the batteries get stressed but not overstressed...cartos well again it depends on the cartos..3.0Ω you're at a 1.23A draw (battery max is 1.5 (on AW batteries, *fire batteries are lower)) so lower resistance you're getting to the overstressed point..higher resistance and they're ok...not the best but ok...

kinda think of it like your car...your options are constantly red lining the RPM....running it just under red line....or less than half of red line..

comparably with the 14500 batteries LR or joye 510 atties on AW or *fire batteries would be constantly running past redline....the other atties on an Li-Ion AW would be running close to the red line...*fire batteries would be even closer to red line...the high drain IMR knock that way back to half and less than half
