So i'm about to buy my first tank mod, and I was wondering if there are any benefits of either using a 3ml or 5.5ml (phat version)? I don't think i'll ever smoke 5.5ml of the same liquid so 3ml would be just fine. However, is the 5.5 easier to fill and less likely to leak than the 3ml? I want ease of use and leak proof over anything.

Don't know about the leaking question; 5.5ml definitely means less refilling, but 3ml is nothing to sneeze at. It's a respectable juice capacity. I only fill my 3ml to capacity if I'm vaping something I enjoy all day. Otherwise, I fill only half the tank if it's a flavor I don't want to vape all day. Options and decisions!

Do you just top the tank off with a new flavor or do you swap out the cartomizer first?
I always swap out cartos when I change flavors. If I tire of the juice before the tank is empty, I just pour the juice back into the bottle and switch cartos. Each flavor has it's own carto, which I keep in small ziplock bags (I use a sharpie to write the name of the juice on the bag) with condoms on both ends for the next time I need them.
