Just placed an order with Sweet-Vapes and there was no sign of BlueCheck.

There was something I wanted and they were the only vendor that I have dealt with before that had it. I fully planned on not completing the checkout and contacting customer service for an alternate way when the BlueCheck crap came up, but it never happened.

CC entry section seemed a little different then the last time I used them, and the verification delay took an extra few seconds than last time. Not sure if they received enough complaints to dump BC or if it is still a fall back if their new unobtrusive systems doesn't like you. Just thought I would pass on the info.
Thanks for that info. Seems they need a phone call. I'll call them tomorrow if I don't forget. ;)

TM, I checked for you because you are doing so much already :). (Thank you for this awesome thread). On SweetVapes home page they have this ... "We will not be using BlueCheck!"
Thank you HappyCamper, that was sweet. :)
I called SweetVapes anyway because of the contradictory info..Here's the poop.

They were planning on using BlueCheck but it hasn't been implemented yet. Since Bluecheck hasn't gotten back to their emails or phone calls they have decided not to use Bluecheck. They don't know at this point what they are going to use. I suggested Veratad and she said that others had also but they are a small company and might not be able to afford Veratad. She said she would pass my info onto the owner. I'll change the list for Sweetvapes.

PSA for those of you using Blue Check. The uploaded images are NOT secure. The CEO/Founder claims the images have been moved to an internal server. The internal server has a global login ID, with a password that changes daily. This doesn't stop someone with access to the server from brute forcing the urls for the uploaded images to scrape for later use. This means any vendor using Blue Check becomes a prime target for those looking to scrape personal data.

The reply from the CEO is available on reddit (not going to link it) if you wish you view it.

TM you should put your name or something on doc that identifies who's actually doing all the work.
Saw someone post link to doc on reddit with no mention where doc came from, just 'i have this list..'
I'd rather not in case the list bites me in the :censored:

Since this is one of the biggest shopping days of the year, I hope everyone will come back here and post their experience with AV at sites that aren't on the list or if they have new info on a site that is on the list.

Best of luck to those living in Florida, Georgia and along the East Coast. It's not going to be a very good holiday weekend for them.

I just had a bad experience with Lightning Vapes. I've ordered from them many times, I placed my order this morning, site reads the only need your birthday. I put in all information. After I checked out and was charged I received this email
Regretfully, our system was unable to automatically verify your age. In order for us to process your order, please reply to this e-mail and attach a clear copy or photograph (front-side) of a valid government issued license or photo identification card. We are extremely sorry for this inconvenience, normal delivery of your order will promptly resume as soon as we receive your response. Unfortunately, if we do not hear from you within 72 hours, regulations prohibit us from shipping your order, and you will be issued a full refund.
I just wish I would have been told this before I was billed. I didn't expect this with Verastad.

At the top of the list is an explanation of how Veratad works. Most of the time they can find a match through public records and you won't even know you were being verified. If they can’t find a match you will be asked to provide some kind of personal ID such as driver’s license. If you don't want to provide any personal ID, you could ask the vendor if they would ship Signature Delivery. It will cost you more but for me it is worth it. I'm sorry this happened.

I found out today that someone got my credit card number and made a $467.00 purchase. My bank caught it and asked me if it was legit, which it wasn't so they terminated my card. This was the card that I used for all my ecig purchases. I last used this card before I heard about SSL Labs. I have no idea which site was hacked but I will be checking SSL Server Test (Powered by Qualys SSL Labs) from now on before I buy. What's really scary is I typed in SSL Labs, 2 very popular ecig sites and they got a grade of "F". So please, check the sites you buy from so what happened to me won't happen to you. There's no guarantee, but SSL Labs is a good place to start. I feel an A or B is acceptable, C is risky and F means...well I can't say that word here. ;)

Good point. ECF shouldn't even be mentioned when you talk to a vendor.

i'm going to have to (respectfully) disagree. ecf is a go-to source for vapers who want to know about all things related to vaping. regardless of whether we choose to speak with vendors about age verification or the latest mod, i don't see an issue with referring to this site. i don't think ecf has a stake in blue check or any other age verfier (do you?), but to suggest the forum shouldn't be mentioned in conversations with suppliers seems base and bordering on some form of censorship.

Yes, we are suggesting that ECF be left out of such discussions so there is no implication that we have a preference or is officially sponsoring this list. Especially when one method is being discussed as being preferable over another.
