learning about nickel builds tl;dr

ok so I gather nickel is a lot different than Kanthal. It seems like 30ga wrapped around a 6/32 screw is pretty common. I get that you want the wraps spaced instead of tight like with Kanthal.

I'm waiting on 2 devices that have temp protection, so nickel is obviously something I and people like me will be getting familiar with. If you guys don't mind, I'd like to start a list of builds that ECF users can reference to help them get started and/or to see what others are ending up with.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience, and please post in the following format (pics are welcome also):

• how many coils in your build
• Ni200 gauge used
• what you wrapped on
• how many wraps
• the resulting resistance of the finished build
• (optional) the temp cutoff you used with this build and why (vapor or flavor)

I know this will be helpful to me as I get up to speed with nickel builds and I'm sure I'm not alone. Thanks for participating.

Well I guess I'll be first. I used twisted 32awg on 3mmID 8 wraps spaced came out .2ohms. Worked good but will try some new wire I have coming 28awg and 29awg Tempered from UK.

I have some tempered 28awg coming too. I'll be interested to hear if you have a preference between that and the 29awg so I hope you'll share your findings.

ETA: 28awg single coil, 9 spaced wraps with 3mm ID = .17ohm at 420F at around 15watts in a K4. Great vapour, flavour and rarely hits TP.
