OOOO! I got this one! It was.......... BODEN! (or some Futurama guy) ;)

technically_correct_futurama.gif

Alpha versions is another way to say final or finished. The finished version of the KBOX Mini will have a spring loaded 510 connection and the buck circuit will be tuned correctly in RMS not MEAN as the Beta version is.

Thanks, Boden. I understood the alpha-beta, but had no idea that the ones that have been sold were "beta". Haven't we always just called that V1 and V2? No matter. I'm glad that improvements are being done!

Have been vaping for 4 years now. But I'm having trouble with customs taking longer and longer to deliver products. I ordered a Cool Fire 4 and a Wismec Presa. Have been using for the past two years two itaste VV3 and have pretty satisfied with their performance.

These days, the new and improved device HAS to have something special and for a need in order to consider it. They are ALL cute....... but.

I'm beginning to see TC as "something special"....

Haven't taken the jump yet...but am strongly considering risking $52 for an iStick TC40W + GS Air M + 5 pack GS Air TC Heads.

code EFUNTOP10% => $26.99 (FREE shipping)

IStick TC40W Temperature Control - $29.99

Eleaf GS Air M - Eleaf Tanks - Eleaf - Clearomizers Tanks

Eleaf GS Air TC Head for GS Air Atomizer - Cvapor.com

I'm still leery of eLeaf right now. 2 of 3 iStick 50's went bad w/ the auto-fire issue. OTOH - my wife dropped her working one in the pool. We fished it out - let it dry in the sun for a few hours - and it's been working fine now for 3 days. Go figure!

So a little pool water is the fix? Whodathunkit.
It would take a $20 price for me to gamble on them again. Even then, there's a lot of competition around that'll last longer than 3 months.

$27 isn't too far off that, but it's still going to be a first generation release.

I wonder, Mike, if your first two were from the same batch? Might have been a supply problem, with their vendor giving them a batch of bad chips. It happens.

But I'm still partial to replaceable battery mods, be they boxes or tubes, and I'm still waiting for the TC tech to get past it's first few generations.

No way of knowing that David ... but they were bought weeks apart from different vendors.

Lowers the odds, then, although who knows how big the first production run was...

But I'm finding vapeland is kinda like cars - NEVER get the first edition! :-x

There have been so many theories and reasons that don't measure up in real life other than 75% didn't see their first 3 month aniversary in use.

I've been following Kangxin's thread and the tc system seems solid for <$50 single 18650 mod to 'try out'. I got mine at Gear's Best for $30 but failed to upgrade shipping = coming by land via horse and buggy. Advice: Get the shipping upgrade ordering from GB. I guess Angels ecigs has them for $40. New Kangxin 50W TC device - Mini VF KX-50D: single 18650; LED torch; USB charge; multiple colours | E-Cigarette Forum

I expect to see more out soon.

I just can't get all that excited about temp control. I'm really happy vaping my GS Airs, don't get dry hits, and have hundreds of feet of kanthal. Why change?

What I'm seriously looking at is the new Heatvape Defender 50W. It has a removeable battery, which is something I'm wanting in any new mods I buy these days. Does anyone here have one yet?

I have two on order from GearBest but it's been odd. It was a pre-order and I ordered some other stuff. The pre-order doesn't show up on 'my order' - only the 'other stuff' and that has shipped but not received yet. No charge on the pre-order, so that's good. lol ... I put in a query/ticket on the Defenders and no response. I've only seen two 'out there' - an Aussie and a CZ vid :- ) I'm in no rush and the Subox mini batt is working well - similar size with replaceable batt as well, but thought I'd have the Defenders by now. I'm much more interested in the Def 50 and Subox with replaceable generic $6-7 batts, rather than the proprietary $20 "replaceable" batt for the Innokin Disrupter.  If the 50W is as reliable as the Defender, then that is how I'll go. If GearBest doesn't ship it, I'll just wait for heaven gifts to offer them.

I'm of the same mind on TC - I have the Joye VT and the Heatvape Invader mini but am vaping both of them in VW mode with 1.8 and 2.2 ohm coils lol with Aerotank Megas, Lemos, gs air m's instead of Subtanks - also on the Subox - a true tootle puffer with no dry hits and MTLung inhales. :)

Kent, someone else just posted that they are in stock here for $49:

√ Heatvape Defender 50W

Thanks. I think GearBest has them in stock as well. No longer listed as "pre-order".

Original Heatvape Defender 50W VV / VW Variable Wattage E - cig Box Mod with Digital Display OLED Screen - 510 Thread-46.00 and Free Shipping| GearBest.com

I'll see if they're going to send them first and if not, again, I'll likely wait until heaven gifts has them - I have a discount there. ;)

I don't think I'd reccomend Gear's Best to anyone. I don't think they are intentionally malichous, just poor practices overall ehen it comes to what is actually in stock vs. what they don't have, and the shipping is way below par even for an overseas company. I see Gears Best is popping up on electronic deal sites and other stuff. I don't see others being as patient or familiar with shipping hassles like vapers are.
