Has anyone seen the commercial for the Logic Power? People are pitching tents in the background as a guy tells how vaping would be impossible in a situation like camping without the new Logic Power with its long lasting......wait for it......320 mAH battery! It would be hilarious except that I suspect a lot of people who don't know what mAH means will expect it to last 320 hours and possibly be turned off vaping.

Yeah, but a lot of people were motivated to find something more useful after first trying something like the LogicPower device. I know that was my personal experience. My first cigalike certainly left a LOT to be desired. But, it was enough to let me believe better was possible and the quest was on. That little piece of crap may have saved my life, seven years ago.

Lots of newbies think they want something which looks like their cigarettes as much as possible, so they bite on a cigalike as a first taste. The Logic Power buyers will quickly find out that 320 mAh doesn't cut the mustard and some of them will start their own quest for better.

But I'm with you on the SPOT. If the announcer didn't emphasize the astounding power of the device it would be less annoying, LOL. They're trying to make a buck. And I don't find them any more annoying than the horrible Liberty Mutual Insurance SPOTS.

Maybe they should suggest taking a box full of their cigalikes on a camping trip.

Me too, NCC. I started with a Crown Seven from a tobacco shop and had no idea there was anything better until I found ECF. I guess I'm just hating on stupid commercials in general. And speaking of which, I hate The General commercials even more than Liberty Mutual.

I have no problem with cigalikes. Many of us who have been vaping for a long time, and even turned vaping into a hobby, started out with them; and then, once one foot was in the door, moved on to more advanced gear. I started out with V2 automatic batteries and pre filled cartomizers. Granted, I moved on fairly quickly. But they got me started and interested.

Agreed. If it hadn't been for Vuse, I never would have ended up on this path. Yes, they're expensive and generally taste terrible (at least Vuse did, especially in comparison to a real "vape") but they are a common entry point and do have a place in the market. They're still better than smoking.

Cigalikes do have their place.

For every active poster here, there'd be another 20 vapers or so not knowing or not bothering to get to know more about vaping. Else, that $2bn+ market wouldn't exist.

Smoking is loosing left and right. Cigalikes from BT is their way of hanging on to their dwindling customer base.
If the vapers are o.k. with their cigalikes, fine. BT gets to make money off someone who would have quit anyway.
If they find the cigalikes lacking and return to smoking - bad for the customer, good for BT's balance sheet.

Their biggest concern is vapers who pick a cigalike and come here looking for more/better.
And that's real bad news for them. I reckon the number of vapers goin back to cigalikes after having had a tank or two on some kickbutt mod is next to zero. Dangling the carrott, risking you going of to the salad bar...

Revenue-driven bigotry:
Blast vaping wherever possible while selling your own

Closed, proprietary systems - good gospel
Open, custom built mods - heresy.

Be a rebel - vape hard :)

I laughed when I saw that and told my wife, who was also watching, that her battery was 3000 mAh.

She said "What's a mAh?" (We've been vaping for nearly 5 years!)

While it might seem heretical, there really is nothing wrong with a person not getting things like mAh (OK, yes, that one maybe yes) right in order to vape. You shouldn't need to be an electrical engineer to use a device. There do need to be simple, turnkey systems available for the millions of smokers who want to stop without going through all the trouble most here are not only willing to put in, but find enjoyable. Vaping to stop smoking does not need to be a hobby enthusiast market, but one the average smoker could assemble in a minute or two and work consistently OK.

Achieving that in an affordable way will likely come through semi-open systems with limited adjustments but preferably refillable with juice of the consumers preference. It might sound like a huge step back to the carto/eGo days, but the tech you can build into pods these days is way better than what was available 5 or 7 years ago. Does that make them a perfect primary device for folks who spend their time on a vape forum? No. But for a whole bunch of other folks the answer might well be yes. And with current advances, I imagine a good percentage would never feel the need to go beyond that, unless it's buggy or a poor performer.

Will the open systems we're used to right now always be better? I think so. But better does not necessarily mean preferable for folks not willing to put time into researching mods, tank, batteries, and all the DIY fun stuff you can do with our current hardware. Maybe it's not so bad to see an uneducated user walking around with a Juul in their pocket with their keys than a mech and loose batteries. And if they choose to become educated and more involved, great.
