Its funny that most people experience longer life while using PG. On the other poll that I had posted, PG was also the culprit that shortened atty life...go figure. It must be that there is an overwhelming majority of vaporers using PG.

Hey Pete, what's gong on? Have you had an atty last longer than 2 weeks yet? I have yet to experience that.

Hey hi vaporize ...my last atomizer lasted for 17 days!!! a miracle for me.....I was testing a a dry burn method of cleaning.....I am doing the dry burn less often this time and have also dropped my working voltage with my latest atty to see if I have any better luck .....there might be something in doing a dry burn. (Although the atty died it was the only atty I have ever taken apart that had no black gunk on it) I dropped the voltage because from your poll I see that the most with over a month were on the lower voltage.

Wow, 17 days..I would've been ecstatic. Let us know how the lower voltage works out.

I had pre-ordered the Prodigy and I was disappointed when Steve@Puresmoker had reconfigured the electronics to only give 5v as opposed to 6v. Now it seems as though that that is a good move. Could you imagine me with 6v? I'd be going through attys left and right. I still have yet to have one last longer than 2 weeks...grrr.

I am convinced there is something in doing a dry burn ..the atty worked brilliantly for the whole 17 days and it was so 'clean' when I took it apart..but the trouble is having only 'one' atty lasting for over two weeks isn't really proof of much .. hopefully I won't have anything to report for a month! If I could get them all to last for over two weeks I wouldn't be so fed up.
Hope the Prodigy works out better for you.

A missing link here (and on the other polls) might be the knowledge which atomizers were used, as in from which manufacturer. Because I really think there are atty's that are good, but weak on higher voltages; and equaly good ones that are fit for use on higher voltages.
So if you need lets say at least 4.5 - 5 volts to be able to burn the atomizer clean well enough... but part of the atomizers, while performing well at 3.6 volts, simply burn through quickly when used at 5volts (or even higher) - this would obscure a reliable outcome of the poll.
Just my impression/experience... (I won't be buying from certain manufacturers because of it, even if their atties perform well at low voltage).

I know what you mean Katink...there are so many variables possible that it's proving very difficult to get meaningful data but if enough people would vote on polls like this it would be of some help.

I think there is something to the higher voltage. I have a home made manual pass through that runs off a 5 volt transformer. At the 5v output I was starting to have unexplained deaths of the atomizers. One minute they vaped good, the next drag it went cold. When one atty lasted less than a week and the next less than 24 hours, I have now installed a toggle and a diode on my PT to allow a dual voltage of 4.6 and 5.2. So far the 4.6v has given me a 11 day life on my last atty.

I have had an 801 for 17 days @ 2-3 carts a day.... still vaping great. Use batteries 85% of the time, passthru 15%. Of course I ordered 10 more atty's and xtra batts after reading a few posts. Still waiting.....

I cut JC AND Eastmall with PG & VG to get a happy medium of mg/vapor/sweetness/throat hit....
(It's a goofy- coffee/coconut/brandy -recipe that I tweaked until it was just right!)
I will give ya' a holler when this atty is RIP. :nun:

Maybe there is a clue in here somewhere.

I use both standard batteries, USB with battery, and USB passthrough without battery (presumably 5v). I use mostly 801/4072 attys, and still occationally use my 901. The juices I use are all over the map. I let attys drain over night, most of the time, but clean with water only when bad tastes occur.

Since starting on 10/28/09 I have only had one atty actually die - open circuit, no connection, stone cold dead.

In all other cases (about 10) attys have gone weak but still heatable - resistance reading across coil still shows a circuit there. I assume that this means the coil has become gunked to the point that it cannot transmit much heat to the juice even though it still draws current. Many of these have been resusitated by various cleaning methods. A few can no longer get much from carts but are OK for dripping.

Main point is that only one atty has truly died. All the others are or may be cleanable. I am saving them until I or someone think of a better way to clean them.

Pete, maybe not many people have success with long life of their atomizers. I know I never had one that lasted a month, so I couldn't vote.

I tested the dry burn too, followed by a day of alcohol soak and I think it worked. Normally I would get about 3-5 days life out of an atomizer and the draw would get really hard. Draining/drying it didn't work, cleaning and soaking in coke didn't either. I am now on day 10 of the dry-burn atomizer, which is great. I suspect it was the dry burn, not alcohol that did it. This is 510 model.

Hi sar....yes I am sure it would be the dry burn that has improved it and not the alcohol...it's looking very much like the dry burn will keep a coil clean if you make sure you are doing it 'before' there is too much gunk built up on the coil.
