So I know its not a true rebuildable atomizer but I have the protank2 from kangertech and I've watched tons of video on rebuilding the atomizer and I am down to give it a shot. Only thing not mentioned on any of the videos is what guage of wick they are using. Is there some "magical" rule of thumb for how thick? Is it all personal preference? Do I just stop being an idiot and keasure my existing wick and go from there?

Mostly wanted input but I'm assuming measuring the existing wick would give the best results? I just don't want to order a bunch of stuff I won't use because it's the wrong size and my wife won't buy the excuse that "I have the wick for this new and better rebuildable atomizer, now I need to buy it so I don't waste this wick".....she would probably punch me in the throat. ;)

Thank you in advance!

Info on setup:
My current wick LOOKS LIKE (haven't measured for extracts) its a 2mm wick with the coil on it and then 2- 1mm wicks on top of that to bring more juice to the main wick.

Thanks again

I've recently had great success with wrapping a micro coil for the Protank - 30awg kanthal, 10 wraps around a 18 gauge needle = 1.6-1.7 ohms. I've found this resistance to work great on mechs as well as VV devices (set from 4-4.2 volts).

I then thread in a small piece of sterile cotton for the wick and add another small piece on top of the coil for the "flavor wick" as they call it. I've found that without the proper size "flavor wick", you'll either get gurgling/leaking or not enough juice/dry hits - it takes a bit of experimenting to find just the right size "flavor wick" for your personal juice.

I change out the wick after about a week, but they could probably last longer.

For some reason though, it doesn't seem to work nearly as well in the smaller tanks like the Protank mini or Evod - still working on those.

Good luck!

For wrapping heads on my protanks, I like to use braided ekowool.
The stuff runs quite large for it's rated size.
I've tried 2mm and 3mm. Using 1mm for the flavor wick.
Out of all that I have tried, my best results have been with 2mm wick and a single piece of 1mm for the flavor wick.
Wrap coils as you see fit.
I boil my ekowool for about 10 to 20 minutes.
Press it between a few flat paper towels to help dry it, then hang it up overnight to dry.
Before wrapping a coil, I heat up a couple inches of the end I am going to cut from with a small butane torch.
I've been leery of using propane as I'm afraid it might make it taste funky.
Cut a piece slightly bigger than you want and stick a sewing needle through it.
Heat your kanthal to anneal it so it cleans it and will help it take shape better.
Wrap the coil kinda light. Don't cinch it down tight against the wick.
I've gotten to where I don't even have a surplus of wrapped heads anymore.
I just twist one up real quick when its time to change it out.
