I have had nicotine in a PG base stored for more than 5 years now with great results. Our well respected forum chemist says that nicotine in VG base will hold up better in freezer than in PG base. I think that he has had some stored for around 7 years now. It is thought that it may last indefinitely if stored in the freezer. That was the last that I have read on the subject anyway. This may be helpful to you. kurtnicstorage

I have learned everything that I know about nicotine from Kurt and the above thread should give you the information that you need.

I'd be curious if on average I using about 30ml about every 3 to 4 days. How much 100mg nicotine would you estimate would last me a year? I've also seen nicotine concentration from 200mg all the way up to 1000mg which scares the hell out of me. I'd have to where gloves and a gas mask.

What I really wanting to know is how much and on average how long it would last me. Any of you guys have any ideas on it?

You vape 30 ml of what strength every 3-4 days?

Lets just say that you vape 30 ml of 10 mg juice every 3 days to keep it simple. This is how you would calculate how much you would need for 1 year.

30 ml x 10 mg= 300 mg every 3 days
300 mg divided by 3 days = 100 mg per day
So in this case, you would use 100 mg of nicotine each day. There are 365 days in 1 year.
100 mg x 365 days = 36,500 mg per year that you use

If you were buying 1000 ml bottles that were 100 mg per ml you would have 100,000 mg per bottle (liter)
100,000 mg divided by the 36,500 mg you use each year = 2.74 So, you would get about 2 3/4 years from a 1 liter bottle of 100 mg nicotine.

Hope that helped to show you how to calculate what you will need.

Lol I could have wrote this Salem. Love @Kurt, he's taught a lot of us along the way and it will be forever appreciated, much more so if this mess sticks.

I actually just found another very helpful one of his posts that I had been looking for. I did use my Foodsaver sealer before I even knew that he suggested it.

That Foodsaver has come in handy for so much more than just food!

Lol yeah, I thought about it earlier when the subject of bottles came up. If you're being ultra careful and own a pressure cooker typically used with canning, it doubles neatly as a sterilizer. Of course, I've always figured that there's enough anti-bacterial properties in nic, PG and VG that nothing is going to live though being covered up in nic base. ;)

You'd truthfully be better off not doing this according to one of the forum's resident chemists. His explanation was that opening a cold bottle takes the chance of introducing condensation, and water is worse for the nic than oxygen. Always better to not take that chance and let the bottle return to room temperatures before opening.
I'm aware of the issue. My first bottle of nic was divided into 250 ml bottles. Only one is active and is almost empty after a year of being opened every 2-4 weeks. In that one year period I can't detect any darkening or decline in the nic. Doesn't pg or vg have some small amount of water natively?

You know, I'm not sure. I know they attract and hold water as they're a hygroscopic and the reason for the vapor in the first place, but otherwise I'm just repeating what I've been told by people much smarter than I. lol

I use PGA to sterilize. It is actually still legal in my state.

You can also vacuum pack unused mods to protect the chip. Add a small silica gel packet (desiccant) and wrap your PV tightly for long-term storage.

Oooooh, nice one Tweety. :thumb: I'll keep that in mind for my spare Provaris. I really need to switch to my new one and send the other two in for a once over first, just in case.

Yup. Moisture is the greatest enemy of those circuit boards. I don't own a Food Saver (yet ), but I use silica gel packets and wrap my unused mods tightly in plastic wrap.

I've got one that I bought years and years ago, pretty much when they first came out, but I don't think it works very well anymore. Might be time to toss it and look into another.

I bought this about 4 years ago and it has worked great
chest freezer - Walmart.com

If you want something smaller, this may be a good, inexpensive option Igloo 1.1 cu ft Upright Compact Freezer, White - Walmart.com

I just can't see paying so much for a freezer unless that lock is imperative. I feel sure that you could get a container that locks to put inside the freezer if needed. :2c:
I think I'll go with the

Haier 5.0 cu ft Freezer, White anything under $200 dollars is good for me. Thanks for the link these were more affordable than the one's I found on Amazon.

I've had zero nic PG/VG in the fridge for a little over 2 years. How long can I expect no nic VG/PG to last?

It will be fine. Shelf life if not refrigerated or frozed is 2 years so I would guess it would be good for at least 5 years. I have 18mo old PG/VG in the fridge that taste just fine. I just bought 2 more gallons of each that I am going to store in a cool dark closet that should stay good for at least 2 years. When I open it I will store it in the refridg.

I checked my nic supply and it has been in freezer for years, says expiration date was 2014, I wonder now if it is still is ok, it has always been frozen. I got lazy and was buying juice and stopped mixing my own so hadn't checked it for some time.

+10 years is my own guess. Our resident chemist here says indefinitly and I tend to believe what he says..
You can read "Kurt's" sticky at the top of the page on this.
Long Term Nic Storage

I myself have Nic over 3 years old that I recently removed from the freezer and it's as good as the day I bought it.

Don't get started on the over 100MG/ML nic talk, this thread will be shut down and it's a good topic.

Actually it is 200mg/L

New rules Applied to Nicotine Discussion on ECF.

No discussion / sourcing of nic strengths over 200mg/20% in any of the public forums. This also includes the classifieds.

If I found some 200 from a dealer I knew and trusted I would buy it for ease of storage.
