Long Term Vapers: health effects?

Pardon if this has been discussed before; I couldn't find a thread on it.

One of the most common pronouncements about vaping is that no one knows the long term effects. Just thought I'd ask on the forum: how long have you been vaping, and how do you feel? Any negative health effects?

I know of people that have been vaping three + years that are members of ECF. Hopefully they will respond to your query. Myself? I've been vaping 9 months with 8 of those being cig free. Less winded when doing manual labor type activities and being able to hold my notes longer and with more power when I sing.

Join date Aug 2009? I feel like I should be asking you that? I've vaped for over 2 years. Positives: lowered overall cholesterol levels, negative for nicotine blood tests, no more smokers cough. No more getting winded. negatives: None. I feel fine, great, normal, same as always

Thanks! Yes - I joined Aug 2009, but lapsed for 4 years.

I found that if I gave myself any opportunity to smoke analogues, I was right back there. Quit with HNRT patches and 0 nic vaping on May 20th this year. I feel great, but I know that if I ever have even one analogue, I will be at risk again.

4 years vaping and 99% postive results. I do still get the occassional mouth sore but I'm pretty sure that happens when I am not drinking enough water.

I started vaping March 2010...have not smoked since May 2010, and I feel much better than I did when I smoked. I can breathe, taste my food, just all around MUCH better !! If I am experiencing any negatives......I cant tell.

There's one problem with long term studies ........ they take ...well ... long term. So I guess all we can do is check back in 10-20 years to see the results.

I can tell you my short term results (2 years) since I had an annual physical last week. my blood pressure was 118/60, A1c was 6.1, cholesterol levels were normal. So not to shabby considering what they use to be when I smoked.

What I will point out is that in the past two years I have not had the flu or a single cold, so I guess there really is a reason that they atomize PG into ventilation systems of hospitals.

I asked my son about PG in hospital ventilation. He's an HVAC guy. He said yes, some of the ones he's worked on still use it.

Legionnaires disease nearly ended the convention industry at one time, PG in the ventilation systems of convention centers is how the problem was eradicated.

As tj99959 has stated colds seem to be a thing of the past. Even when my wife and kids get sick I do not. When I smoked I would get 2 to 3 nasty colds per year. While there is not a study around this claim I have seen enough posts and my own personal experience to believe that vaping is most likely the reason for my reduction in getting sick.

Ya know that Biotene that everyone raves about, guess what the primary active ingredient is, the same is true of that hand sanitizer that you see sitting on the front counter of about every store you go into. PG is known for it's ability to reduce bacteria and virus.

Almost 3 years vaping here

I recently had chest xrays taken and my doctor was thrilled with the improvement in my lungs compared to xrays taken a little less then a year after I first quit smoking (which had improved compared to xrays when I was smoking). EKG results were also excellent. My BP is what my Dr declared as "perfect".

Unfortunately Arthritis is kicking my .... but my Dr has no concerns that that is being effected by my vaping as there are no toxins being created by the burning of tobacco when vaping.

Been vaping for 3+ years after smoking analogs for 7-8 years. My lungs don't gurgle anymore, they don't hurt like they used to, and I'm able to breath easier everyday. I started off with the Yeti 510 (if anyone remembers) and couple of other cheap stuff, moved onto the Reo Mini, and now I'm using the Penelope with a GGTS. Overall it is satisfying.

been vaping just one year,,,,,,,,,,after smoking 2 PAD for 30 years.

the only negative I can see is that I've gained about 20 lbs,,,,,,,,not good, considering I needed to lose weight to begin with. However, it's most likely a result of my weaning off nic than it is of the manner in which I got that nic into my body,,,,,,,,,Nicotine is an appetite suppressant,,,,,,,I'm wondering if it's really worth it to give up the nic, frankly,,,,,,

other than that,,,,,,,the blood pressure has gone down, I no longer cough, and although I had 3 colds this past winter, NONE of them lasted nearly as long as when I smoked,,,,,,,nor did any of them turn into bronchitis or pneumonia or pleurisy,,,,,,,,,,all of which I've had in the past.

I also have more money to enjoy my other hobbies,,,,,,,like scrapbooking, card making and reading,,,,,,and that's good for my stress relief, IMHO.

I know 2 definitive things about vaping. One, I feel much better. Two, smoking would have eventually caught up with me.
