Where to begin..... I am a long time snuff user. For those that don't know what snuff is, it's shredded tabacco leaves soaked in a million chemicals that you place between you lip and gum and spit out the juice in order to get the nicotine in your system through the soft tissue in your mouth. Pretty gross ain't it. I did they for at least 12 years. It started out with less than a half of a can a day and ended with nearly 2 full cans a day. My brother in law quit smoking by switching to vaping. He helped me get started. I haven't had a dip of snuff for about a month. My mouth feels better, no more sore gums and bad breath. I'm only using 3mg juice, but it seems to be working. Don't get me wrong, I still crave a dip of snuff, almost every day, but I haven't broken down and bought a can since I quit. I even threw a whole can away 2 days after I started vaping. I know it's long, thanks for reading my post.

Welcome to ECF and congratulations on kicking a nasty habit. Also have to applaud you for tossing your remaining surplus of snuff once you started vaping. Not an easy task. When I first started vaping I quickly realized its effectiveness as an aid to quit smoking. HOWEVER, I could not bring myself to throw out my remaining cigarettes I had left over. Took me a week to smoke them but I did smoke them. Having direct access to both is treading in dangerous waters for I could have easily reverted back to the much more simpler and convenient cigarettes. But vaping allowed my will power to prevail!

Welcome to ECF! Congrats on quitting the snuff.

My father used Copenhagen snuff. He had a tin can sitting on the floor that he would use for spittoon. It got knocked over often. Gross!

I don't know which is a more disgusting habit, smoking or snuff, they're both pretty bad. Glad to hear that you were able to give it up.

welcome

snus and snuff give a good hit of the non nicotine alkaloids

WTA [whole tobacco alkaloids] eliquid might help you, it curbed my need for swedish snus much better than plain nicotine

there are only a few companies around, and it costs more than plain nic, but some people benefit from it

I'm a bit confused here, is the safety of WTA more established than the safety of Swedish snus? I thought it was pretty dang harm reduction oriented.

I ask because I will be vaping less but using more Swedish snus when I start work (I just don't need the headache of anyone knowing I vape, frankly.) I find it pretty potent but I was under the impression that it has been studied for a long time, and found to be safe. Even though it probably IS more potent than the alkaloids, I actually prefer vaping, due to the hand to mouth issue. But I have a feeling I will transition just fine.

I'm just wondering? And even if someone tells me Swedish snus is somehow unsafe, I will still be using it. Etc. But I am wondering why it would be desirable necessarily to switch from snus to vaping WTA in case I'm missing something.

Safe. I forget specific study, but estimate is 99% safer than smoking. Which is better than the vaping figure.

But op reported sore gums. Maybe just from salt and pressure. And bad breath
