Hey everyone!
So I've been vaping and visiting ECF off and on over the years and figured I'd finally register. (No idea why it took me so long)
A little of my vaping story...
My very first ecig was back in either 2007 or 2008. It was a clunky Njoy 510-type kit. I absolutely loved the idea of it at the time, but given it was the early days of ecigs, the actual performance of it was pretty much an unsatisfying cherry-metallic vape. My high hopes of it replacing analogs went out the window within about 30 minutes.
I still used it off and on for a few months just for the novelty of it, but eventually threw it in a box and I think I tossed it in the trash at some point during a move.
2010 rolls around and I give another cigalike kiosk kit a try, hoping the technology had improved. No dice. Being a 2-pack/day smoker, I got home with the kit and plowed straight through a single cartridge in less than an hour! Doh!
Sitting there regretting my purchase I start wondering if one can refill those cartridges somehow. I hop online and a few hours later I'm neck deep reading (probably ECF) and watching videos about eGos, e-liquid, and refillable cartridges. Woohoo!
I was lucky enough to have a B&M shop in my city at the time, so I went down and got set up with an eGo kit, empty cartridges, and some liquid.
That made me pretty happy for a while, but only casually because of having to deal with refilling and fiddling with a gazillion leaky cartridges to carry around. I still stuck mostly to analogs and still felt it was pretty futile to fully switch to vaping until clearomizers came out and became popular. That's the point when I finally started seriously thinking about ditching analogs.
Basically for the next couple years I was dual use, tinkering on and off with ecigs but still smoking. Finally late last year and earlier this year I got more serious, tossed the analogs completely, and haven't looked back. My wife did too.
These days I have fun tinkering on my desk strewn with kanthal, wick, tools, various equipment, DIY liquid supplies, etc...a far cry from that old Njoy!
Anyway, it's been pretty mind-blowing to see how far and wide this whole industry has progressed since I tried my first ecig, and I look forward to participating in the forum a bit instead of just lurking.
