Hello Everyone!

I've been lurking the forum for a few months now, I've learned a TON, so I finally thought it would be proper to register and introduce myself.

My name is Matt, I'm originally from Oak Ridge TN, but I've resided in Dublin OH since 2001.
I am 40yrs. old, married to the love of my life, and a father to an incredible 2.5yr old little boy!
I spent 8yrs in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting right after H.S. graduation, and I hired on CSX Transportation(railroad) in 2001 as a Conductor. I became a Locomotive Engineer in 2004, and except for the crazy hours and a lack of a real schedule most of the time...I love what I do!

It's funny how to this day I can still remember the first cigarette I smoked, and the first time I actually bought a pack of them. Like it was yesterday, but now over 20yrs. ago!

I grew up with two parents that smoked, and I hated it! I can remember going for a ride in the car with mom and dad smoking, the windows rolled up, and my brother and I in the back seat thinking we were going to die. I hated it so much, I find it absolutely ridiculous that I personally started smoking.

The reason for the switch to an E-Cig, plain and simple...my son. Maybe a little for my wife, who hates the fact that I smoke...but mostly my son. I never really smoked around him unless we were outside...but I want to be his role model...and this has to be better than smoking in that sense.

I got my first E-Cig about three weeks ago, and since then I've upgraded twice. My current go-to is a Protank 2 or Mini Protank 2 with an Ego Twist battery. My backup is the Ego CC. Once I got the hang of everything, I started smoking fewer and fewer analogs...until one day(this past Friday) I didn't have anymore analogs, and I just said that's it...I'm not buying anymore! After 21yrs. of being a pack to a pack and a half a day smoker, no more smoke for me! I don't miss them either. I really thought I would, and that an E-Cig would just be a fad, but over the course of three weeks of doing both, everyday the cigarette just kept tasting worse and worse...so it was really an easy transition. This surprised me!

I would like to thank each and every one on this forum for making it what it is. I've learned so much...but have so much more to go. I promise I'll try and search as much as I can, but I'll also apologize in advance for asking stupid questions.

Thanks for reading my introduction!

"Maybe a little for my wife, who hates the fact that I smoke'd'..."

Fixed it for ya, Matt! I grew up the exact same...mom and dad smoked, windows up, hated it with a passion, and then I began. Well, that chapter is over for both of us! Congrats on giving up analogs, the stinkies, and finding something better and healthier. I think we all lurk for a while to decide if this really is as easy as people say. Keep it up...if not for you and your wife, but for your son.

For me,

I started when I was 17 as a rebellion against my parents who didn't smoke. almost 30 years later, I took that plunge and started vaping. The reason you started is almost never the same from person to person, but what's important is that we here, all took the life saving choice to quit.

Congrats!!!

Hello and welcome Bad:toast: Great reasons to quit. I was the opposite and loved the smell of my Dads cig and zippo lighter firing off,me half asleep in the back of our big white Cadillac,a Hank Williams song playing on the radio. I started smoking when I was 15,used my paper route money to buy a pack,it would last 4-5 days. 35 yrs later it was 2.5 paks a day, just as my Dad told me,then the breathing problems. @ 17 I rushed my Grand father to the hospital, dying of emphysema,he died 3 days later,@64. Your a young Father, put the damn things down. Good luck to you.
