Long wicks vs. short wicks?

Why would you choose to use short wicks or long wicks in a rda? I understand long wicks will hold more liquid, but besides that, is there any particular advantage to one vs the other? Assuming the same material in either case, silica or cotton or whatever.

the longer the wick, the farther the juice has to travel, but sets deeper in the tank
short wick gets it there faster, but you have to tilt, so you don't get a dry hit.
unless you have a bottom coil.

If you assume that the shortest possible wick just barely reaches down to the juice well and the longest possible wick completely fills the juice well up to the point of smothering the coil, you have a range of possibilities to consider. They all will work. Longer wicks will hold more juice without allowing it to puddle, so you can lay the RDA on its side without the juice flowing out. Shorter wicks will hold less juice and not allow it to disperse as much, so you can vape smaller quantities at a time.

My theory is this: if you are primarily tasting different juices, changing often, use short wicks. If you want as much vape time out of a single fill as possible, use long wicks.
