Been lurking this forum for months...but finally registered. I've owned a few devices after starting w/ the Blu ecigs...went to a an Ego twist, then a Vamo, and now I currently user an iTaste MVP. This morning I finally decided to buy my first rda and bought a Trident clone, along with a Sentinel M16 clone to get me started. I have a quick question about RDA's as I am accustomed to using tanks..

1. I typically use 18mg nic in my juices for my tanks..I think i read somewhere that RDA's hit way harder and I'd have to use a lower nic for RDA atty's. Is this accurate?

Hiya :)
Well I can only really address this through the experiences of some friends.
My man uses an RDA and when he makes his own wick/coil set up he prefers the lower ohms; sometimes as low as 0.2. Due to the low ohms he has a harder hit and for that reason he did bring down the preferred nicotine lvl of his juices.

If I'm not mistaken, and anyone please correct me if I'm wrong; the lower the ohm, the harder the hit. The fluids evaporate faster due to the short hotter bursts of the coils and thus inhales more in a single hit.
If that statement is correct then it would depend on the ohm of the coil/wick that you put in.

Using an RDA doesn't automatically mean you need to drop your nic level. But you said you got a sentinel clone with it so I'm assuming you're planning to make lower resistance coils, which will produce more vapor. If that's the case, then you're going to want to drop it.

The way I see it (I could be wrong) is the more vapor a device produces, the more nicotine you're going to get from each drag.

Congrats on your new set up. When I first started vaping using an ego and cartomizer I was in the 12-16 mg of nicotine range. I just got
a RDA yesterday with a k100 mod. It hits great although it did take some time to break in and I Had to learn how to saturate it thanks to the members on this forum I learned how. But even 6 mg nicotine is a lot stronger on a RDA. It hit hard as heck. Right now im mixing a 0mg juice with a 6mg juice to dilute the nicotine. Only because the store by my house doesn't sell a 2 or 4 mg. So yes in my opinion you will wanna drop down a bit. Try it out let me know what your results are.

Thanks for the help. Your assumption is correct, my plan is to eventually start making lower resistance coils. I guess I'll have to order some lower nic juice just to be safe

You'll have the best vape ever! Be sure to know your batteries amp draw limit, and use an ohms law calculator to make sure the resistance of your coil won't overload your battery. Since you've been lurking around you probably already know this but i feel obligated to say it!

I suggest MNKE 18650's that have a 20A continuous draw, more power than I care to tinker with.

Wow it's scary how similar our vaping experience has been, I bought those EXACT products in the exact same order. Blucigs, ego, then vamo v5, trident clone and now I'm waiting on my itaste mvp2 lol (I somehow found an authentic stingray in town and bought that for my mechanical, but I still prefer my vamo tbh). Good taste my friend :p, I ended up asking this question recently to find out exactly how much I should go down in mg's, since I usually use the highest 18mg/24mg. Good luck, I think I'll end up sticking with 12mg for now because I can always vape less!

The O.C.
I dripped 18mg on .5Ω dual coils for the past year... 24/7. I never saw the need to drop nic when i switched from tanks to drippers. I tried dropping to 12mg, but that was a bad idea and did not feel satisfied... so i stuck with 18mg. So i'd say, try the 18mg if you have it... and drop if you need to. Don't simply drop your nic "just because" you're dripping: drop nic because you need to. YMMV.
