So my current rotation- Provari for home use, eGo Twist with mini ProTank2 for "on the go" use. The eGo spends a fair amount of time in my pocket- at work, at the bar on a Friday night, at a party etc...
Problem is I want to upgrade from the eGo to a more dependable device. The easy answer is a mini Provari but I am a little uneasy about how it would do with a PT3 on it in my pocket...
Looking for suggestions!!
I don't understand the concern of using a Mini Provari with a Protank 3. I've used the Mini with a Protank 1 with no issues. I prefer using cartotanks though.
I was in a similar position as you almost a year ago. Maybe learn from my experience. I had a standard Provari which went everywhere with me, but I wanted a small/shorter device to use when outside the house.
I purchased a relatively inexpensive Smoktech VV Gripper mod initially. Within 7 weeks the LED and front panel buttons collapsed into the mod. (Chinese mod = no repair options, buy another mod.) Not to mention that the 33.3 Hz chip it uses fires a full volt higher than the set voltage compared to the Provari.

Next I got an inexpensive Segelei/Ovale VV V8 box mod. Better construction for more durability than the ST Gripper, but still has the 33.3 Hz chip and has a funky battery compartment. I seemed to always grab for the Provari for the better vape. Experiment: Fail.
For my 1 year vape anniversary I awarded myself with a Mini Provari. For the money I wasted on the above two mods I could have had the Mini Provari to begin with.
A couple of months later I won an iTaste MVP in a vape store raffle giveaway. It's a pretty nice mod for the money with a rechargeable non-replaceable battery which lasts 2 - 3 days on a charge. It uses a better PWM chip comparable to the Provari. Consider looking into this.
I was recently gifted a Mini ZMax. I used it for about a week and again was disappointed by the 33.3 Hz chip. I gave it to my daughter who had been using a couple of 14500 battery mechanical mods with iClear 30 clearomizers. For her, this is an upgrade and she likes it. However, I've been spoiled by the Provari.
If you don't mind the 33.3 Hz chip, consider the Segelei Mini ZMax. It's just a tad bigger than a Mini Provari.
