OH
ok, so here it what i'm looking for.....

1) must be usable with a kick
2) i don't like bottom and/or pinky buttons. i would like a button similar to the poldiac. something i can hit with my thumb while i vape.
3) must be able to fit 18350/18490/18650 batteries. i prefer telescopic, but not 100% needed.

those 3 are "must haves"!

2 more things i would like, but are not deal breakers

4) magnetic switch
5) under $100

so, anything like this out there??

under 100? not sure.
but I have the roller with the optional kickring, still one of the best mechs available. and the smooth buttery button is legendary lol.

with rhodium plated spring and 510 connection it is my every day go to out of the house mod

polished roller with optional kickring and Kraken geni... the kick is not installed at the moment. so add about 15mm when installed.

Well the Sigelei 24 is a top side button mech, and I've had one for 5 months now. It's well under $100, but mine is starting to have issues with weak firing and voltage drop, so I can't say I'd recommend it. I looked at the Sigelei 20, but really didn't care for the firing mechanism, a spring pushed against two posts by the button. It's gotten some pretty poor reviews too.

I am looking for pretty much the same thing you are, and I most desperately want an Atmazoo Roller, but can't afford it. I've been looking for a used one at a price I can afford, but thus far no luck at all. I searched on Ebay and there was not a single one on there! At any price! Wow... people don't let go of those mechs!

I could go with a bottom side button if I had too, but I'm just starting to look at those. I really don't like bottom buttons at all, and right now I'm having to use one, my $12 Sentinel clone, and I'm not liking it at all. I need a mech that I can sit down on my desk standing up that won't fall over easily. Bottom button mechs have that locking ring you have to fiddle with every time. Meh!

I have a Sigelei #23, which I think has the same switch as the #24. The voltage drop comes from oxidation or some other kind of buildup on the button firing pin. The only way to fix it is to take the button out and clean it off. The button is not easy to unscrew and is threaded into the delrin insulator material, so the easy part is buggering up the plastic threads. It can be done, though, just very carefully. Otherwise it is a perfectly good cheapie mod, albeit a bit tall and ugly IMO. Just needs to be maintained for conductivity. I agree that the #20 is a bad choice... that mod should just disappear from the face of the earth.

To the OP, there aren't many top button mechs out there. Only the high end originals really do it well. Right now your options are the #23, #24, poldiac clone and 69 clone. Otherwise you have the Bolt and others like it, but they are not true mechs. On another note, I have bottom side and bottom button mechs that I thought I would hate, but you get used to them. I would try one before you completely dismiss them, and keep in mind that most of these clones cost less than $30.

I think I found what you are looking for in a mod.
Vaperoyalty.com has the Poldiac mod in a clone that is $54.99. The have the stainless steel and the stainless steel with brass. They are out of the solid brass one.
I ordered the stainless steel with brass tonight.
From what I have been able to understand it is a 1 to 1 clone of the original Poldiac.

soooooo
no one even noticed he asked for a mod that can be kicked in 650 mode? lol

I believe the Poldiac clone I posted about can be kicked in the 18650 mode. It comes with the extra tube that can be added for the kick.
I will know for sure by the end of the week when I receive mine.

Sirius II Mod from Greece. You buy the switch head and the tubes separately, but it comes to less than $80 with shipping for a single tube Greek top button mod. The tubes come in 4 different sizes to fit any batt/kick size. Not as many features as a Roller/Dingo, but a nice simple mech. Only slight flaw is it's 21mm, not 22.

actually......
i said it needs to be usable with a kick. i then said i would like it to be usable with all battery sizes as well.
i never said that the kick needs to be usable with all batteries.

i do understand that if i go into 650 mode, then i won't be able to use a kick most of the time.

I think i remember reading somewhere that the KTS+ bottom tube can be flipped around to make it a index/thumb firing device. I could be way off though. Worth a search at least.

I haven't looked into this, but I don't think it makes much sense and that it would be impossible. This switch design closes the circuit between the battery and the body of the mod, so it would just hard short on the body. Top button mods open and close the "positive pin" part of the circuit, and there is no obvious mechanism for this by rearranging kts+ pieces. Pretty sure it couldn't even be screwed together this way without serious modifications.

Actually, I think it was the MKB-TS that the switch can be flipped around on...

Madvapes Bolt or the $12 from FT

The Bolt has wires in the switch to the atty and therefore not classified as a "mechanical", which is what he was looking for.

There is this one that will do it though... LavaFire Smart V3 - Mechanical Telescopic Mod $37.99

I would like to see this... it just doesn't seem possible. Tried googling for a reference but didn't find anything.

I think there was a link in the big thread under APV-discussion here... Maybe at some point someone that owns one will chime in. It basically worked the same as the 69 mod.

Hey, I'll have to look into the 23. I'm heading to my vape store soon this morning. I might just buy another 24, if I can find one. It worked great for a while, and I know how to get into that button section. I take the plastic plugs out all the time to clean the little brass cone that comes down to make contact with the screws from either end. I think it sucks that they sealed the button section from each end so you can't get in there. All you can do is use a Q-tip with alcohol to clean in there. If I get another 24 I'll see what I can do about taking out the button on the old one.

I've been eyeballing the 69SS clone on Fasttech. Fits all your criteria except for the magnetic switch. And for the price, you can buy 4 of them in your $100 budget.....in case the switch goes bad. ;)
