OP: I haven't clocked in a lot of time with my MVP because i bought it more for the novelty factor but I think in your case it will be a good upgrade and if you can find it on sale then it will certainly be of more value than your current eGo style setup.

Good luck, stay strong, and keep on vaping brother!

Well as it stands, I don't mind buying a whole new setup as I only have 1 tank that I actually like to use..I have 3 or 4 ce4's lying around but they aren't going to get used anymore..MacTech..do you think you could link me to a place to look at what you are talking about? I found a few things, but I want to make sure I'm looking at the right thing here.

iTaste MVP Variable Voltage Box Mod (2600mah)
iTaste MVP Variable Voltage Box Mod (2600mah)

They're hard like an A-1 tank.

Thank me later. These are a steal. You'll have to sell me the slope top. I don't have that variant.

:)

p.s. Ignore the link labels.

Hi all. I'm new here and I've been vaping for about 3-4 months now. I bought a kit with SMOK ego style batteries and ce4 clearomizers. I have recently switched to Kanger EVOD tanks, but now my batteries are not wanting to hold a charge for as long as they use to. So since I'm in the market for new stuff, give me your opinions on what you think I should get.

Looking for something that the battery lasts a good while. Possibly variable voltage as I have kinda been looking into those lately and they seem like a good thing to have. I know I'm probably about to get flooded with replies, but that's ok! I'll take everyone's opinion into account when purchasing.

3 words:

Provari, genesis, Kayfun.

these three words will rock your vape world once setup and dialed in.

Thanks for the links. Could you fill me in on the difference in flat top and round top? I couldn't really find any noticeable differences besides the shape of the end. Lol. Also, what else would I need to buy if I were to get this? Sorry for all of the questions, but I am very interested in this piece. Would I be better off getting that one kit that you linked to me in one of your previous posts? Since it comes with batteries, tank and charger?

Edit: Nevermind. I just read that vividsmoke is currently out of the Efest LUC Charger...so I guess that site is a no go..

Kit's are fine if you don't feel comfortable putting one together yourself. The only difference is the round top is slightly rounded. I have a Nitecore i4 charger and it works flawlessly. It stops charging when the batteries are charged and it adjusts it's charging power based on the number of batteries in it (1 or 2 batteries will charge faster than 3 or 4)

The appearance is more than aesthetic, the draw of atomizers will be different on both. The flat-top results in a tighter draw than the slant top, slope top, round top. Particularly with the Protank which draws through the bottom of the 510 connector. The flat-top presents a nicer fix to 22mm and 23mm atomizers. The slope top is a perfect fit for 18.5 mm atomizers like the Protank, as is the Provari which it emulates. But the fit does have an impact on draw in some instances. To me the zMax slope represents a good compromise for the airy Protank draw. And I feel a more consistent vape experience overall. Flat-top mods really reduce it's potentials.

You can augment or correct for the draw in three ways on the Protank: By very slightly opening the base of the atomizer from a hand-tight, an eighth turn or less to allow some air in. This will provide needed airflow to an inefficient coil or a slightly flooded Protank, if you draw like me at times. An eighth turn and a draw without firing will introduce some air to correct vacuum issues in this atomizer. It works. You'll see a small bubble or two if succesful. You will immediately get the atomizer getting expected vapor production. Also, by loosening it very slightly at the 510 connection from the batt. Not too much or you reduce the electrical efficiency at the contact point. It works on the flat-top, not meaninful though on the slope. Some nice things to love about the Protank when working right.

I don't understand why vendors don't do a better job of better describing the diameters of these mods and how they fit up. Post a pictured for cryin' out load. Very frustrating.

If you have some eGo atomizers they'll both work natively with the flat or round. Both have drip wells but I can't imagine wasting a VW mod for that.

A simple charger is all you need. They're cheap enough. Buy the body and save the markup. Make sure that two caps are provided! Ask or email. Get a box. They should come with a short and longer battery caps. The latter will better accommodate button top batt's. The boxed item should include it. These mods come with good brass springs. It makes a difference.

I like a very smooth controlled vape most times, on the cool side when chaining. But when I hit hard, warm and fast. This mod provides a robust response in both directions. Not as precise as a Provari or eVic but quite effective. Like I said earlier.

The mechanicals are fun and I've been through quite a few. Just ordered my first original Grand Vapor. But nothing meets variable wattage for sheer enjoyment and precise pedal to the metal power when you want it.

Good luck and enjoy!

:)

Ok great advice! Last question then..do I do the dual battery thing or just go with one, and which one do I get 2 of? the little one?

Edit: Also MacTech..when you were talking about Protanks..which one would you recommend? Protank 1 or 2? I'm thinking the Protank 1 would be better since it doesn't come completely apart..so less chances of leaking, right? I'm currently only using a Kanger EVOD which I really do like. Nice airflow, not too tight...throwing the ce4's in the trash. Too bad though..I have a fresh 5pk of coils/wicks that I never got to use..terrible thing..

In these I've used AW, Panasonic — a variety. But I get good performance from the Panasonic CGR18650CH widely recommended on this board. At 2200 mAh, a good compromise between power and hours of use. They're available for a very reasonable $8! When you get around to checking they're performance, you'll see. I rotate six in three devices and get consistent recharge for them all to spec charge. Lucky I guess. Hoosier Vapes and others have them at this price. Best to look around and have backups. Buy two to start so you can rotate. I'd prefer a third as a back-up but would use them all in rotation. They need to rest after recharge to preserve their life (believe it or not).

Enjoy, and good luck!

:)

p.s. Go with the latest Protank II. If the glue is failing on any of the originals of Kanger's atomizers it's not just inconvenient...the dissolved glue is going somewhere. Right? I'm evaluating the "no glue" replacement that preceded the PTII and it is an AWESOME improvement (in flavor?) But it's double-walled rather than totally mechanically retaining the glass as the PTII does. The added thickness is a PIA as you need something really narrow, more than the evod or 3Ts, to add juice from the base. Avoid the original. Sorry vendors.

Awesome thanks for the help MacTech..I just ordered my fav liquid from one place..about to order the zmax from another and the batteries and protank from another..lol. Does this look like all I need then?

Is this how it goes for everyone? Always ordering from multiple places? I'm so unlucky to live where I do. There is not a single e cig shop anywhere nearby. There is one about an hour from here, but a friend has had some bad experiences there.

Almost forgot to add a charger..whew..

I feel you. The hardest part for me in this whole thing was making a decision about some of this stuff. Not making a mistake. Messing up the routine I needed to keep going. Get the vape started with something reliable and satisfying. Then reconnoiter and refine. And no, there's no joy...no Walmart...no mod heaven. You gotta shop. Good thing, it's a burgeoning industry for a lot of bright modders, entrepreneurs and small business owners. I've met quite a few. We could certainly use more of that again in the USofA and the opportunity that would bring.

But no, it will not be enough. You kidding? Too satisfying once you do. Oh and btw, I do acknowledge the advice from Tex and some of the others...but really $50 for a reliable VV/VW device is awesome. It's an outstanding start to something that may change your life. It has mine. Box mods are down the road for me. I'm still on the amusement ride buying the cheap tickets. :D

Good luck!

:)

Order placed..it's amazing that it cost about the same that I paid for my original kit...so I'm happy. This is my "foot in the door" for making my way into the mod scene. Thanks for all of the great tips and what not guys. I really do appreciate it. One main reason I go with the Zmax is that I read a ton of great reviews and since it is in the mid-range price wise, I had to make that call. Maybe on down the road when I am more educated and comfortable using a mod, I will upgrade to something others have suggested. When everything arrives, I might just have to make my own review post. :) I'm crazy excited right now.

DamienZ32, would you mind terribly running through exactly what you ordered and from where? I've read through this thread several times trying to zero in on what to order but am still a little confused by all the components. I'm new to vaping, ordered an cigarette type kit and immediately knew I needed something more substantial but I'd like to skip the Kanger EVOD step because I suspect I would quickly need to move up from that too.

Thanks, I appreciate your help (great thread - exactly what I was looking for). btw, did you also get a charger? Also, where do you order your juice?

Alright here goes..

Hoosier Vapes for the Protank II kit and 2 Panasonic IMR (high drain) batteries..the $8 ones

Desert Vapes for the ZMax round top with box and a TrustFire 2 Channel Lithium Ion Battery Charger

Electra Vapor for my juice..there are probably better places to get juice, but this is a place I have tried and liked their classic menthol. Was working out of town one week and ended up close to one of their shops, so I stopped in. They have a juice bar which I thoroughly enjoyed. Fell in love with the classic menthol flavor they have..that I can't seem to get anywhere else. Just doesn't taste the same anywhere but here.

Hope this helps. I will be looking around for a lanyard or holster of some type for this as soon as it arrives..want to see what it feels like in my pocket first..lol.

Thanks!

I rec'd my Sigelei ZMax V3 and Protank 2 today. With some messing around I got them put together. What a beautiful looking set up. Just beautiful. I cut and pasted some instructions for the Sigelei since none were enclosed. Now I'm waiting for my batteries, charger and juice. I was stabbing in the dark with the juice since I've never ordered any before. I live in a small town so there's nowhere to shop for any of this stuff.

I'm really anxious to try out my new set up. I smoke cigarillos and only smoke outside but they're so offensive that I'm sure my neighbors don't appreciate the smell. I sit on a second floor balcony and live in the high desert so it's very windy, but I still don't want to impose so I've switched to vaping during the week and then go over to my cigar smoking buddies' houses on the weekends to relax without worrying about my second hand smoke. My goal is to eventually switch over completely.

Thanks to the experienced vapers for all the good advice. Great board. And thanks again, Damien, for starting this thread.
