I am totally new to E cigs. Herein lies the problem. It took me about $1000.00 (no kidding) on purchasing a new product. I didn't do my homework...did not explore forums, really.... none of this until I finally visited a few and got some great advice. I really want to avoid screwing up again. I would really dig knowing what your favorite e cig mod is. I am basically interested in a workhorse model.... doesn't matter if its a tank type, carto based, bottom feeder, etc.

I am leaning towards a Rio Grand... but! Please let me know what you like the most. I just want to buy a single mod that will make me happy for at least a couple of years. Has yours kept you happy for two years? Can you take yours with you away from home easily? Is it available in a kit?

I know this is really pushing the envelope to ask you for your time and opinion. It's not done lightly, and if you ever need advice on electrical work or lapidary, I'll be right there. Email me or post your question and I'll get right back to you... Thank you all for your help. Tortoise

PS> Hi Joker. Thanks for the heads up. I sure misinterpreted that part of the rules. I won't let it happen again.... Tortoise

Hey DesertTortoise, I really don't understand how you have spent over $1,000, but sorry.
Have you checked out the Provari, or the Darwin? Really nice to be able to adjust your mod for any atty, cart, or carto.

The Reo line is wonderful.

What's so great about the Reo's is that if it's not compatible to your vaping needs, just post it in the classifieds! They go like hotcakes and retain their value.

I have 2 Reo Mini's and they are great bottom feeders.

There are a number of great bottom feeders available...

All you need are your atty's, juice, batteries and charger.

From what I hear the Rio is a GREAT PV. Since you are new to ecigs, what do you think your starting budget will be? This will help in offering opinion as to what is good for you "out of the gate".

You will no doubt get a bunch of people who say Ego/Ego-t/Riva and others (veterans) who will recommend their favorite high$$$ mod. All of which will be good suggestions however vaping ends up being a LOT about personal preference and habbits so there is no "one size fits all".

That said I do feel that the "510" platform/threading is the most universal out there for what I have seen. What this meant to me after doing my research is that I can start basic for minimal cost.........standard 510 and upgrade as I see fit; knowing that basically I would only be giving up batteries. any carts/attys/cartos/tanks I bought for the 510 would be usable with any future 510 compatible big battery/mod that I might buy in the future so I was assured that I could try the most options possible with minimal investment to arrive at what worked for me. Knowing what I know now I would have skipped the standard 510 (unless you have a hangup with having a PV that is similar in size to a real cig) and started with an Ego/Riva ensuring long battery life (what I use now and am content with, although I would like to try the new ego-t system or maybe a pro-vari).

Biggest thing to me though, if I buy the provari tomorrow, I basically have no loss in unused equipment as all my assortment of carts/cartos/attys can be used with the new PV..........I am a total cheapskate/bargain hunter and can't stand the thought of buying something that will wind up in the closet the next time something newer/better comes along. My equipment may evolve but I plan on staying with the "510 platform".

You can start off with minimal investment and upgrade as you go without feeling like any money previously spent is wasted My .02

I think most people's workhorse is a 510-based fat battery model as mentioned - Ego, Ego-T, Riva 510

I was a lights smoker and can charge batteries at work - my "workhorse" is just a Vapor4Life Vaporking w/ standard manual batteries (280mah, and it's a KR808D-1). KR8 models have the longest battery charge you can get in a ~120mm fairly slim ecig. Most 110-120mm minis have 180mah batteries.

That's why I chose the 510 as well. With atomizer availability it looks like the 510 is the most universal. But that is not to say that it is hard to find parts for other "platforms" (i.e. KR808, 901, etc.) That comes down to preference and which e-cig you want to try first.

Personally the thought of juggling batteries all day seemed crazy to me. I simply decided that I'd get a slightly larger e-cig, the Riva , which is essentially an eGo. (I'll link below). This is a 510 atomizer with a battery that lasts me 5 - 7 hours worth of pretty heavy vaping without a hiccup. Or the 1000mah (big capacity battery) will last about a day and a half.

To start, the lite kit I got was 80 bucks gave me basically 2 full e-cig setups (batteries and atomizers) for about 35 bucks. I got that and some juice to refill myself and I was good to go for about 2 weeks. Then..I started buying..which is another problem entirely .

The eGo/Riva would be my recommendation if you asked me to name one, as I would say most people that strictly want a cigarette sized e-cig eventually make the move towards a bigger battery it seems. Its a great device and an excellent starter.

www.liberty-flights.com - where I bought everything, I've been to their store to pick up things personally (it's right by my house) so I can't attest to shipping, but they all seem to be nice and helpful. Prices are the best I'd found.

Riva:
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

eGo: (essentially the brand name version of the Riva)
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo

For purchasing juice Liberty Flights had some decent flavors. But, I found the juice from..

www.freedomsmokeusa.com was more flavorful and my speed. Lots of flavors to choose from too!

Hope that helps...
