Hey all, so im wondering who knows of good places to get my supplies I need to make my own juices. I know a couple people who make their own juice but it just seems to me like theyre spending to much on their supplies. One of them spent $300 to get stuff to start making her own juice. Ive looked at a couple websites but ive only really found supplies for making BIG batches of juice (everything is sold in bulk) does anyone know where I can buy smaller amounts of the raw materials for juice making? I only want to try out juice making and im not looking to sell it so I dont need to make gallons at a time lol. Most of the vape shops around me dont sell juice with no nicotine and im ready to be done with nicotine. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks again.

I don't think that $300 investment is all that nuts; that's about what I spent to get started down the path of DIY.

That being said, try this:

The DIY Flavor Artisan's Master Kit - One Stop DIY Shop Store

Enough Nic base and flavors to mix up a handful of batches of e-liquid.

Derp.

Didn't catch that you're ready to be done with nicotine, sorry about that. Perhaps you could drop a line to the vendor and see if they'll substitute a bottle of PG/VG for the nic base.

Well my whole issue here is im wanting to make a zero nicotine juice because I cant find any at shops near me. Spending $300 on my ejuice just sounds outrageous to me, thats more than half my rent! Is it at all possible to get myself setup to make juice for say 50 bucks? I really dont want to make a lot right at first, i feel like I should be able to make enough juice to last me quite a while for $50 considering the same amount of store bought would last me at least 2 months

I've had very good luck with Mt. Baker and get all my flavorings from them. I get my PG from RTS Vapes, and the VG from Walmart. I've been making my own juice for a while now, and I have nothing like $300 invested. You are right, you can do it a lot cheaper than that, I did and I came up with a juice I just love and is my all day vape. I make it up 100 ml at a time and that lasts me 10 days. I think it costs me less than $5 for that 100 ml and I was spending $90 a week on juice before I started making my own.

You definitely have the right idea, DIY will save you a lot of money. I did invest in some glassware, but that wasn't so expensive and makes juice making very simple.

Nice setup! Yeah a buddy of mine was telling me how I can get the VG I would need from a local health food store in a big bottle for like $3 so really if I got that I would just need some flavorings and maybe some PG so mix with. I wont need a nicotine liquid since I plan on making a zero nic juice. Ive always washed and saved all my empty store bought juice bottles so I have a bunch of those already. Going to check out the web suggestions and see what I can find

The trick with DIY isn't so much the per bottle cost, it is the development of a juice you can vape all day long day in and day out.

You can if you so desire vape unflavored PG, VG, or a combination of the two.

Take a look at the eliquid recipe section to get an idea of what flavors you might want to make, there are quite a few options out there.

I'd suggest starting with simple recipes, they will be both less costly and get you mixing good stuff sooner.

If you get into the mixing thing, adding new stuff to future orders isn't a big deal.

I got all my supplies, except for the tackle box to keep them in, from Wizard Labs. Initial purchase which included 500ml nicotine, 250 ml PG, 250ml VG, bottles, syringes, ten flavors and some other stuff for $112.00. The nicotine at 100mg in 500ml was about half of that cost. Remember all the "hardware" (syringes, needles, bottles, etc) are reusable so they will last a long time if cleaned properly.
Just ordered another 250ml of VG and about six new flavors for $20 which included shipping.
It is not expensive, considerably cheaper than buying juice, and a lot of fun

Good luck and enjoy!

You should be able to purchase all of your non-nicotine DIY ingredients and equipment from local sources.
A large supermarket might have the VG and concentrated flavorings.
Pharmacies carry small syringes and needles and sometimes the PG.
Farm supply stores will have larger syringes and bigger needles.

Those are the basics to get started mixing small quantities. I measure everything in mills (ml = milliliters) in graduated syringes, and sometimes "drops" of the concentrated flavors (20~25 drops = 1 ml). Small glass and plastic bottles are easy to find to mix in.

Keep it small and simple to start with and be sure to document your recipes so you can replicate or adjust them later.

Lots and lots of great information in the DIY Ejuice Forum here. Be sure to read the posts regarding steeping and how flavors mix. I've almost discarded mixes that tasted bad after mixing, but found that time and temperature can make a great difference.

I went overboard when I got started and have more juice supplies than I'll ever be able to use up, but it's been very fun and satisfying to produce great ejuice for less than 10 cents / ml. I told myself I got into DIY to save money, but I actually prefer my own mixes now over almost everything I've purchased pre-mixed for $.50+ per ml.

To me, this is the best part of vaping. Good luck and enjoy!

Hey there =] When I started, I went through Wizard Labs

I'm thinking about $60 for everything you would want/need and more. I got (with 250ml of 100mg nic mind you, which was $35 by itself) enough to make about one liter of juice plus about FIFTEEN flavors for $70.

From now on, I'm going to stay away from LorAnn's flavors. They have colors in them, and that is completely unnecessary, IMO.

Have fun, I love making my own juice =]

You need to be careful when buying flavorings from the local supermarket. Some of them have ingredients that while fine for ingesting through the stomach, but should not be inhaled. I would recommend getting your flavorings through a source meant for vaping as these flavors will be weeded out already.

Wizards labs is a great place to start out. Nab a nice size bottle of PG and VG, some syringes and blunt tip needles for measuring. They also have a nice selection of flavorings in smaller sizes for testing. Once you get setup with some flavors that you like larger quantity's can be had cheaper at other places but WL is the best for nicotine and smaller quantity's on price.

Buying VG and PG is quite cheep, the more expensive materials are the nicotine base and flavoring.
With flavoring you only use a very small quantity so it ends up being not that expensive.
Regarding the nicotine base, it gets relatively cheeper the higher the concentration is, but also more dangerous to handle.
Those dedicated DIY sites sell all the supplies you need, but at a higher price.
Other places to buy the same supplies would be lab equipment suppliers and food industry supplier, some of them do sell smaller quantities.
In that case it would be better to find a local supplier and make sure they actually sell you food grade materials.
Another option is to buy the base ingredients from one of the small e-juice manufacturer.

Good point HDH, I should have known better. Diligent research is vital when learning, as I am still.

Great avatar, btw. Is that Strider?

There are so many small things about safety to learn with vaping. It is almost like learning a whole new subject in school with all the battery and juice safety needed. Not to mention all the electronics knowledge that helps alot.

My avatar is actually fan art of Hugh the Hand from The Death Gate Cycle. A great set of books to read if you like fantasy books that create a whole new creative world, or in this case worlds. I think these would make great movies, but would be a ambitious project.
