Looking for my perfect box mod.

I am looking for my perfect mod. I am hoping it exists, or atleast something close. Here is a list of things that I want from my mod.

First and foremost, I need a mod that is built like a tank, it needs to be built to last. I deploy for 60 days at a time and have no way to buy replacement parts or ship for warranty work.

I prefer a smaller mod something with a single battery.
I want the battery to be swappable, again for reliability reasons.
I also would like a mod with passthrough charging.
I would like to see around 60W. More is better but willing to take a bit less if it means it is more sturdy.
Finally, I don't want to spend more than around $80

I have found the smok Xpro M65, IPV Mini II 70W, SMY 60, sigelei 50w VR2, Dovpo Mini 50W Box Mod, Smowell DPV-50

Thanks,
Alex

The only reason I want a passthrough is because I spend more than half my life on a ship, my space is limited, I have exactly 2 power outlets, one is for my cell phone and ecig (2 port USB outlet) and one is for my tablet. I suppose I can start shuffling power cords, but they tend to get mad if people even leave phone charging unattended.

Edit: Also I have noticed that there seems to be quite a few posts here and on reddit about issues with the IPV Mini II, the build quality worries me. I really do need a tank of a device, in every day life you don't bounce off steel walls and ram your legs into immovable objects. On a ship you don't really have a choice, if its rough out whatever is in your pockets is going to get slammed into things on occasion.

If you don't mind an enclosed battery give the 50w istick another look. 4400mah ain't nothing to scoff at!

I have looked at the iStick 50W, my problem is that the batteries aren't replaceable. I fail to see why the IPV Mini II has a usb charge port if it shouldn't be used? I don't plan to vape on it while charging, I just want to charge it over night with it. What about other options like the Smok M65, SMY 60 or the Sigelei 50W?

It does but most people Ive read online tend air on the side of caution and not vape it via passthrough. You can USB charge it for sure, vaping while its charging is another monster entirely. Barring a component failure, the battery of the 50w istick is the last thing you need to be worrying about. Pretty sure the 4400mah cells are rated at like 300 or 500 cycles with 90% capacity. Unless you're subohming your noodle off it'll last plenty between your access to a charger.

If I were worried about reliability, I'd buy two iStick 50W's and keep the second for immediate backup. Non-replaceable batteries wouldn't be an issue for me if I had backup. The batteries in the iStick 50W are lithium polymer (LiPo) and they are next gen in terms of battery technology. LiPo runs cooler and isn't nearly as likely to enter meltdown as Li-ion or LiMn.

You can charge the iStick 50W from USB and most any USB charger from .5A to 2A will work. Those are under $5 items if you shop smart, so you can have wall wart backups cheap. Batteries are rated for up to 500 charge cycles before vape time becomes an issue. That's plenty of reserve life for 60 day deployments, especially if you have two devices (one for backup).

If you want in the field repairability, look at the Reo. It's more mechanical.

I see the iStick 30W, ???, ???, Sigelei 50W VR2, iStick 50W, Smok M50/65, IPV Mini 2. What are the 2nd and 3rd ones?

What is wrong with the Smok M65? I keep hearing people saying its junk, but I can't seem to find why. People seem to love the iStick 50W and the IPV Mini 2, but I have seen tons of posts about problems with both of them.

The first one is an Istick 20. The next two are Sigelei mini 30 watts and they are awesome little devices! Worth every penny of the $40 you can get them for now!

As to the M65, when I first got it I had a .4 ohm Goblin on it and it just couldn't power it like my Sig 50 can (guess I was spoiled). There is a half second delay when firing from sleep too that is a little annoying. However with a .9 ohm single coil Lemo the M65 performs beautifully without any real noticeable lack of power. I think it just lacks the omph for low sub-ohm dual coils. I really do like the M65 and I don't regret the purchase at all, it's tiny, very comfortable to hold and charges very fast.

One other thing I worry about with the M65 is the potential for juice to find it's way inside. The way the top plate is screwed on to the casing makes me worry about leaks getting in plus it appears the screen is simply fitted up against an opening (another potential place for juice to get in). That's why I prefer one of my Lemos on it, never had a leak from one.

If I were in your shoes, I'd slice the budget per unit in half and buy 2 of whatever seems best at that price point. Any vv/vw device can go bad - for that matter one could accidentally go overboard or get dunked in a bucket of water - and if I couldn't get servicing or another device readily, I'd want a backup device that's ready to roll. Same holds true for toppers - I'd probably want at least 3.

The good thing about built-in batteries is that you don't have to buy batteries in addition to the device itself.

Just my 2 cents.

What is the chip in the invader?

There's not a lot of info on it yet. The temp control is on the coil, not the chip.

From the heatvape site:

Invader Mini - Heatvape

100% original, Patent Design!

The Invader Mini is a power regulated digital switch-MODE DC-DC converter controlled personal vaporizer. It has a small .69” diagonal OLED screen. The Invader Mini will automatically detect whether a temperature sensing or standard coil is attached. It supports reverse protection for input terminal and synchronous adjust for voltage output.

I saw one listing where it gave the waterproof rating but couldn't find it later :-\ ....but thought the "shock proof, water proof" might fit your needs.

I would stay away from the SMOK products. I have an M-50, and I really liked it, until recently. I haven't had it long and lately it started refusing to fire half the time. It would say check atomizer or weak battery and wouldn't do anything, and then just start working again. That's not as bad as its other issue it has developed. It will just fire on its own for no reason. Tonight I sat it down and walked away from it. When I came back to it a couple of minutes later it was firing the Atty. The display wasn't lit or anything, it was just firing. So I completly dismantled it, cleaned the board and the connectors and put it back together, and it is behaving for now.... But yeah these things are crap, stay away from them! I'm not the only one with these kinds of issues with SMOK either. I'm looking form something else myself right now, as this thing is a potential death trap...
