I have not really loved the Kayfuns although to fair all of mine were clones. Just not a JFC person and I'd probably wager a bet that if I took more research and experimentation time, I would have a better experience.

However, I like the Ares a lot and I find draw to be fairly adjustable. :I like the Siren V2 but I run it airflow wide open that seems like how it likes to be run (for me).

Used to have 2 kayfun 5s in rotation (DL, afc wide open). The Savour MTL rta, with the bigger airflow in, bumped one of them out. Restriction is about the same. Maybe a little more restricted, but nothing I really noticed/was bothered by. I basically think of it as a better k5. All the youtube reviewers, from GimmGreen to the Vaping Biker have reviewed it and liked it. Never got the traction it deserved though. Don't know why, but take a look at the reviews and see if it fits your style.
Thanks! Ordered one yesterday!

V2's have more leaking problems. They're good but not as easy. They have interchangeable deck inserts from big air to medium to small. V1.3 is better, imo. They come up fairly regularly second hand.
Where are you hearing about V2 leaking? I googled and didn't find much. Would love a V1.3, but they're nowhere to be found except this fasttech generic clone.

All authentic or clones? All 3 leak? Details? Thanks!
All authentic....and they don't actually leak. They just tend to seep more than the 1.3 and the tank section is a bit over the top. Too many o rings and places for things to go wrong. The tolerances on those parts need to be exact for it to work properly and there's no consistency from one to the other . They work better with the bell cap. At that point, you have a hurricane Jr. Far less money but still more prone to leaking and not as good flavor as the 1.3.

Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions! I'll have some new toys to play with in the coming weeks:
I would have also purchased an authentic Hurricane v1.3 if I could have found one or an authentic v2 if they weren't reported to be finicky, so instead, I used the money saved to go cloning:
I'll report on these in the appropriate threads. Vaping fun (and likely some learning curve frustration) ahead!

Digiflavor Siren 2 arrived yesterday and so far I love it! There doesn't seem to be a dedicated thread, so I'll share my experience here:

Very minor cons:
  • The o-rings are very gummy and the one on the bottom tank was stuck to the glass tank. It was ever so slightly flawed after removal, but OK and no leaks.
  • The top was very difficult to remove from the glass for cleaning.
Everything else is great:

I was tempted to try one of the 1Ω included coils, but 1Ω is a bit low for my ProVari V2, so I built the same coil I use in my K5s: 28 gauge, 2.5mm, 1.5Ω.

Outstanding! Flavor is better than my K5s and the airflow on 4 out of 5 holes is perfect for me! I carried it in my pocket for an hour while walking the dog and no leaking or seeping: dry as a bone! So far, I love this tank!

Today's project: 3CVape x Vaping V1ck Savour 22mm

This thread seems to be down my alley on what I'm searching for. Going to check out the Savour and some others.

Anybody's thoughts on the Ammit 22mm RTA?? I saw a REALLY good price somewhere... (trying to find it again)
Ammit is pretty good for what it is. I liked it much better than the serpant smm.

Update:

In addition to the above tanks, I also got an Innokin Ares (good price at Mt Baker with discount code) and have an SJMY Doggy on the way. I know- I went a little crazy. That's how I roll: go for years without any new hardware and then BOOM! Currently in rotation:
  • Siren V2
  • Savour
  • Ares
Overall, I've already gotten more than I bargained for. While none of the above are seeping free, they're getting better as I modify my wicking. The Savour is on day 3 with no liquid. The Ares "perspires" just a tad from the top of the AFC, and I just re-wicked the Siren yesterday and it's still dry so far.

While I haven't achieved 100% seepage free tanks, the flavor from all of these 3 surpasses my Kayfun 5s. Additionally, I've begun using spaced coils and lower resistance, which has really introduced a flavor explosion. Of the 3 in rotation, the Savour and Ares are the flavor winners, with the Siren a very close 2nd. I like the Ares so much I ordered a 2nd one.

My next build will be the SJMY Hurricane 1.3 clone, and then the Doggy. I'll report back on those once I've given them a spin. No hurry to try the Hurricane V2 clone, since they're reported to be finicky and leaky.

Winners and Losers:
Here are the winners and losers in my search for a leak free RTA with good flavor.

Losers:

Innokin Ares:
I feel bad for Phil Busardo and Dimitris Agrafiotis, who designed this tank with Innokin. It's an example of good ideas that failed. If they had done some serious beta testing, the flaws of this RTA would have been discovered and possibly corrected before its release.
The Ares produces great flavor, is easy to fill and build, but it seeps e-liquid from the AFC occasionally and from the top cap seam constantly. Any kind of leaking or seeping is an automatic fail in this contest, so both of my two Ares have been returned to the vendor for a refund. Maybe there will be a V2 in the future that fixes the issues.

SJMY Hurricane V1.3: I really wanted this tank to be a winner. It has a huge 5ml juice capacity, a big, easy to build on deck, and pumps out tons of flavor. But alas, it seeps. First from the center pin- adding an o-ring fixed it, but now it seeps from the AFC. I suspect the 2 o-rings that encircle the drop-in build deck, but don't have any spares that size.

Honorable Mention - Runner-Up: :thumb:

Savour (AKA The 3CVape x Vaping V1ck Savour 22mm MTL RTA): This little guy is a flavor powerhouse! My current wick/ build does not leak, but I have had some AFC seepage from previous builds. The other thing that keeps the Savour out of the winner's circle is that, for me, the wicking it kind of fussy on that tiny deck- getting the tails into those little holes.

Winners:

Siren 2 GTA by Digiflavor: This tank is everything the Ares wants to be, but it succeeds: great flavor, easy to build and it doesn't leak or seep. I had some AFC seepage initially, but replacing the bottom o-ring fixed it. This tank can sit for days without losing a drop of liquid. Mine is a 22mm, but I have two 24mm on the way.

❤️SJMY Doggystyle: Keep it simple, baby! Ever wonder why those fancy-pants RTAs have to have a bazillion parts & o-rings, along with a bazillion ways to leak? Well, doggy says they don't! The epitome of simplicity, the good doggy wants only to give you love, and like any good doggy, she never leaks or seeps in the house, in your pocket or purse. She is well built and well trained. You won't be putting any monster builds on her tiny deck, but even a 2.5mm ID coil puts out tons of flavor and vapor. If you long for simplicity, reliability and performance, the doggy doesn't put on airs, she just delivers!

I agree with most of the above, and while my Ares did not leak, they did die abruptly and to be fair, one I dropped (but it should have been fixable) and another just died for no reason (if you can call, "Gently touched the insulator with a finger" which I personally think you CAN call that "for no reason").

I didn't even bother thinking about a replacement, as far as I'm concerned doggy and Siren V2 all the way.

I'm bummed out the hurricane leaked. I had the same problem with an authentic years ago but haven't had any issues since with other authentics or clones. Sorry that happened, brother.

Since you started this thread, I received a couple Cloud One V4 blasted tanks. They'd be right up your alley . Great flavor, smooth air and bone dry.

Hey, @Asbestos4004 - Do you have a Hurricane you can spare for parts? I have another one (the first one I got) that I f**ked up putting the "collar" on the deck. What I need is that collar that the little cap goes on. If you've got one you can spare, pm me. I'd be glad to pay the postage.

My current favorite from my recent RTA search is Digiflavor Siren 2. I've got 3 of them in rotation and have found a build that delivers the best vape I've ever experienced:
  • 26ga 316L
  • 3mm ID
  • About 6 wraps, spaced but not too far apart
  • .45 to .50Ω
  • 22 to 25 watts
  • Rayon wick tight (squeaky) in the coil
  • Temp Control between 360 and 400℉
Outstanding flavor, lots of vapor, and no flavor fade when chain vaping! Eureka!
