Anybody have any recommendations for a 5 Volt mod that takes 14500 batteries? I have been using a 5V box mod I got from boxmods.net but over time the glue that holds the female connection to the atomizer breaks down and it won't vape anymore. My first one died in about a year and now the 2nd one I have is on its last legs. I'm looking for something more durable and my max price is around $100. I'd possibly go over if the quality is that much better than the other options. I have a bunch of 14500's and a charger so I'm hoping to find something that uses them. I don't really want to throw down more money on new bats and a charger in addition to the mod. Also I don't need VV at all, just a straight up 5 volt will work for me. Thanks

Aside from a normal box mod- like what Muzichead is suggesting- there isn't anything I can think of that does 5v and runs on 14500's. You could always DIY one out of a flashlight:

DIY E-Cig Flashlight Mod - Hookah Forum for Hookah Pro (not my work, just found on a search)

That will give you 3.7v, though. If it's something with wattage that appeals to you, use a 1.5-1.7 ohm cart/atomizer for more oomph.

I imagine if you cut the flashlight longer, it'd be easier to stack 2 14500's, throw in the extra stuff and come out with a 5v, not unlike what people do when DIY-ing tube mods with 16340's/RCA123's. A fat flashlight might also work, so long as the batteries are run opposite one another, similar to a remote control.

cool thanks for the info everybody. If any of you own those box mods how is that female part where the atty is screwed into connected? If its glued in I'm probably gonna go with something else due to the problems I've had with the others. I wouldn't be against buying a mod the uses different batteries if it works better/lasts longer than a box mod. Anybody have any ideas? What about something like the Ipro from notcigs? Thanks for the help, I'm a little behind the ball since I haven't been following any of the mods the past couple years.

Edit: I already have the Trustfire charger so I'd just be buying batteries if I went with something other than a box mod.

I have the Buzz Pro and I believe it's the same electronics and switch/potentiometer as the Ipro. I can't say enough good things about it. Long lasting charge, from what I understand very solid electronics, I love the VV dial and not thinking about what voltage I'm at, lots of built in protection, and it hits HARD. The Ipro is longer, only issue might be pocketability.

The SmokTek box I suggested has the 510 connector epoxied in and is very secure. I think most of them out there epoxy them in as they help seal the box from anything leaking in and shorting out the unit. I know my 3.7V bow is like that. Follow the link I gave you and look at the VV box pics on their site. The white one has a good pic of the epoxy job they do on the electronics. Check it out....

Cool, That one is definitely the best price and I'm leaning towards picking one up. Even if it fails in a year I'll still get my money's worth. I missed this under the features the first time I checked the page.

Sealed and reinforced 510 Connector

Should definitely be way better than what I'm using now. This one is not sealed so juice gets through the connector into the glue. That combined with the heat from the atty eventually breaks it down. The sealed connector will solve that. thanks for the reply.
