So I've been using a 3.7 battery (lower under load I'm sure) and a 5 volt passthrough. With both of these I'm using the smoktek 1.25 lr carts. What I would like to do is to have the same experience from a battery/mod. I've read that the Lavatube doesn't like the dual carts, so that's out. One that I've found that seems to get good reviews is the Apollo Vtube vv. Would this be a better choice for 1.25 lr dual cartos?

If that isn't a good one, what would give me the same experience that I have using the duals on my 5 volt passthrough? Or would the higher volts make up for (or more than make up for) using a higher resistance carto?

Thanks in advance! :)

I just did the math... I guess I'm looking for a 4amp vape - that should give me the same experience, corrrect? If so, would the Apollo be the one for me? Any other suggestions?

The Apollo VTube is the same thing as the Lavatube. They both have a 2.5 amp limit.
4 amps should fry the carto/atomizer...
Are you sure your passthough is 5v? with 1.25 ohm carto, wouldn't that be a bit hot without some sort of limit on your device?

I'm guessing you could go with a 5v box mod for pretty cheap from MadVapes or FoxyBoxMods.
Or if you are a high roller, go Darwin!

I'm fairly certain (i do not have a way of measuring it) - When I ordered it, it said it is 5 volt. Although I ordered another from the same place and it will not work at all with the 1.25's... The second one I got is a newer/different version though...

I have been looking at mod boxes but I would like something that looks a little 'classier' like the lava tube - That thing looks amazing :)

I will check out the Darwin though - Thanks for the response! :)

I thought the LT v2 was 4 amp... could be wrong on that.

Wow. 4 amps. 2x 2.5 ohm coils. Kinda hot anyway IMO. 5v = 3 to 3.2 ohms for me (but that's me).

The 1.6 ohm DCCs would be 3.2 ohms each..... 3.125 amps.... if you don't want to "push the limits".

Do they call you "Mr. Freight Train?" lol. Sorry. Moving on.....

The 5 volt PT may not have given you the true 5v experience... (depending on the power supply) and I'm surprised it didn't cut out. What PT is it and what power supply? I can't compare the differences unless I know the answers to those.

Did you have a 4 amp or better power supply for the 5v PT? ;)

Well, it does get REALLY hot if I use it for more than a few seconds... but it is amazinggggggg :)

Also, it will only work on certain power supplies. For example, it will only work on car 5-volt to usb's that have a fuse in them. Others it will not work at all. I'm not sure if that tells you anything?

You could be right though, it might not have given me a true 5 volt experience, but I do know it is the strongest I have used yet and it blows away my ego and everything else I have used.

On a side note, the second passthrough I got does cut out right away using the LR's. I got both of the passthroughs from madvapes:

lol. I'll be it is amazinggggggg! lol. Maybe the car adapter put out the amps. There should be a little sticker on it somewhere... look for OUTPUT: numbers.

You don't want to pop it though.. you want to use it long term! Try the around 1.6 ohm ones at 5v if you can get the 3.125 amps. They can hold up to the 5 volts without melting.

My best guess. :)

OK, I was wrong on that (said I might be :)). I meant V3. There are a lot of posts about a 3.0 version that is supposed to be 4.0 amps, but there's a lot of discussion about voltage drops too (same or lower version). So since I'm not an LT guy, I'll bow out without further information. Joe_13 seems to be tracking them. There is a sub forum on them also.

Even my vv box mod has a 3.0 amp limit. So use caution and do some heavy research on voltage drop and amp limits. Most probably require high-drain (like IMR) batteries due to being boosters. Dual battery APVs would not necessarily require IMR, but it's a good idea with a 4 amp drain.

Probably (hard to actually tell real #'s without measuring under load. This is theoretical #'s)

Anway, that's in the 3.x volt range that would be the "double barreled standard e-cig" I mentioned above. ;)

So... if you want to stay at 5v... get a power supply that can put out 3+ amps. Use the 1.6 ohm DCCs. Same with a vv e-cig... 3+ amps.

Have a good night!

P.S.

I should mention that if you use a 3.0 ish atty/carto at 5 volts... you may not want a dual-coil. Some people love em at 5v. I don't have much reason to use em (I purchased one to try for "fun"...haven't tried it yet).

You're more or less "simulating single-coil 5v vaping" with that DCC on a starved 5v PT due to low amp power supply.

Thank you so much for all of your help tonight AttyPops. It has been very informative. And what you are saying about mimicing the 5 volt/single coil with the dual coil makes complete sense to me.

What I have eneded up doing is ordering the lava tube 1.5t which looks to be a 3 amp mod and I got a box of 1.5 dc to go along with it. Since this will be my first 5 volt mod (YAY!), I will be experimenting with different carto's atty's all over again.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond to my post :)
