The size is the whole point though. it already is powered by a bog standard 18650 in tyhe rounded section. the only thing is it's solered down and theres no accesws port. That's literally it.
My plan was cut the bottom plate in half just past the screws and stick a hinge and peg hook to it for a closure, then do a bit of soldering to make terminals that work. Should actually be easier and cheaper than buying and installing it into a different box.

cutaway the rounded side panel and hinge that is the other obvious option. I was hoping someone had already done it and might have pointers. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS, IT DOESNT WORK is of course an excellent pointer as well.

Look at a Hammond 1590A. they are pretty small boxes. Single 18650 builds are easy, and if your batteries are slightly stacked/overlapped you can build dual 18650s in them. I know you want to keep your current box, but as Im not familiar with it or its internals I would think that transferring the board to a new enclosure would be easier.
