loose fitting cartos andadapters?

Just got a 510 batt to 808 adapter and it works however, neither the battery nor the cartomizer fully seat to the adapter. I have noticed some cartos tightened up before they get fully seated as well, when I tightened them all the way down they seem to mash the threads on the batt or carto (the male end is where I have noticed it). Is this the norm as I fear the male ends are going to eventually fail. On both my 808 and 510 neither feels secure when it is screwed down they seem to wiggle a bit unless I crank them down to tight! In which case I am thinking it is mashing the threads! As they appear to be somewhat flat now. Is this a design flaw on these things, why do they seem loose in the sockets? Some one please tell me its not just my gear this is happening to?

True the adapter issue could be isolated but the loose connections occurs between the batt and the cartomizers without an adapter on two 510 batts and two 808's. they wiggle a bit unless they are really tightened down to the point of distress. If I just tightened them down till the posts make contact and I bit more the batteries and cartos aren't fully seated to each other and the wiggle and flex.

This would be my guess ... I have adapters that are 501 to 901/808 and vice versa, and while I do not have the issues that you are describing, they are still not my favorites to use, and do not work at all with atty's.

Since adapters are relatively inexpensive, I would suggest purchasing new adapters from another vendor ... perhaps one that is recommended by someone on the forum.... hopefully someone in the US will chime in and make such a recommendation.

510 to 901/808-D Adapter

If this is what you're talking about, I just ordered some of these and I have had none of the problems you described. They're cheap. And a nice, tight fit.

Note: Don't screw down so hard as to recess the center posts!

Mad Vapes has this one too. So small I forget it's on there till I go to screw a 510 thread. 510 to 901/808-D Shorty Adapter Makes all my 510 batteries 808 without adding any length.

If your 510 cartos go right on the 510 threads and they are loose too, like you said, it may be the battery connection. Even on my ego stuff that has stable cone threads, you can always wiggle it if you try. Knock it off or you'll only make it worse.

I haven't noticed the posts getting depressed but the threads looking fatigued. Even when fully seated they have a side to side wiggle to them that just doesn't seem right. As long as others have noticed this I will just learn to deal with it. I do however feel this is poor quality. A tight joint is a strong joint and these are by no means tight and in no way feel secure, I fear a failure is inevitable before the batteries run their full cycles.

The reason for an adapter or anything else not fitting tightly is there is slight variation in the threading depth of both various 510 threaded batteries and devices, and the depth of the threads on various KR8 cartos. Adapters need to work for all of those varied parts.

I would not force stuff trying to close the gap. I find if I screw something in just enough to be secure, that is enough.

And BTW just in case you are having the same problem someone else was having - the Leo does not have 510 threads. It has threads that look similar to 510 but it is a proprietary threading, not 510.
