I've been vaping exclusively for the last 9 days,,, no more analogs. Been vaping a mix of 16, 24, and 36mg dpv9 carts. Last night (whch was the second night in a row) I ate some buffalo wings. They were not that hot, although, to some people, they would be extremely hot (meaning spicy) but I have a high threshold for spiciness and LOVE extremely spicy foods. After I was done eating these, I opened a new Cola flavored 24mg cart. I noticed that right away I could barely taste anything, I could just feel the vapor, but tasted like nothing. I figured, ok, maybe it's a bum cart. So I put that cart aside. Opened a brand new Marlb 16mg cart. This one was the same case! So now I'm thinking, could it be the battery, which was freshly charged? So I try both of these carts on another freshly charged battery... same results... Now I'm saying, what are the chances, 2 brand new carts from 2 diff packages with zero taste?

I was at a friends house when I was trying these, but was heading home soon after, where I had more carts and flavors. I didn't think much of it, til I got home, and I tried a few other carts, as well as one that I had already been using earlier that nite, which I KNOW had flavor. Same results again? I started to wonder if I was losing my taste for some reason. I drank some mountain dew (my fave drink) and it seemed like i couldn't taste it as well. Tried some mouthwash, chewed some gum,,, I could taste them both, but not AS well. Now, I am a bit of a hypochondriac, so I can definitely say, perhaps TO AN EXTENT, I am going out of my way to look out for these signs, and some are not there as much as I believe them to be.

I figured, whatever, I'll sleep on it, and tom morning, i'll be better.. But it still seems like none of these carts have taste, my morning coffee tasted a lot more bland that it always tastes to me. My tongue doesn't feel numb, although i spose on the very surface, it feels possibly slightly tingly, but again, i could just be imagining that. So now i wonder, is this a fluke? did several carts in a row taste like nothing, yet they smelled like they were flavored, and gave off vapor, and throat hit? Or have I lost my sense of taste? And most importantly, how did I lose my sense of taste? From the buffalo wings? From vaping for the last 9 days straight? (1-2 carts per day) It's allergy season here, but I'm not sick, and barely have any allergies now. I don't recollect swallowing or getting any liquid on my tongue. And by the way, in the past, I have gotten a drop on my tongue or mouth, meaning like weeks ago, before i exclusively vaped, and it did nothing to my sense of taste. Does anyone have any answers, explanations, or insight on this? Thanks so much!

Maybe you're catching a cold? Much of the "taste" of eJuice is actually what we can smell when we vape.

I had an alternate theory about capsaicin, the heat from peppers, in the hot wings numbing your taste buds, but it didn't hold water with the morning after notion.

But another idea is that you've ODed on the PG and numbed your mucous membranes in your nose and soft palette. Re-hydrating (Gatorade) and maybe a good old vaporizer session with Vicks (or hanging your head over a fully hot shower for a few minutes) should get you all perked up and smelling and tasting again.

At least that's my theory. :)
