My own cat has outgrown the toilet paper thing. Also, the playing with computer wiring. This is fortunate for him.

Lucky for me, my cat never got into TP. She does love charging cables, much more than most toys. Fortunately I have several dead cables that she can play with. I keep one handy to distract her if needed.

file under: how do they know? enter cat, stage right, demanding attention LOL.

Some cats are pretty talented and can outsmart their owners (or the staff).

AH - But Ya' might be able to out wit them if there is a plastic cover . . .

So glad I have a dog. Yesterday I was writing, and Tippy was demanding my attention. There was a wedding reception going on over at the American Legion hall, and he wanted to go meet the people. The Packers party was the night before, so he was excited about that, too. I played tug with him to distract him then, so last night we played tug again. We finally went over to talk to the people. One of the bridesmaids had vomited. I talked with an adult there about young people and their drinking habits. I pulled Tippy away from the vomit. We went home, and finally he settled down.

Almost said good morning, but it's 12:15 now so, good afternoon.

Headed out to get my coffee re-supplied and then coming home to put the final coat of poly on the kitchen windowsill. Somehow the sill got water marks on it from my plants and I've been meaning to fix it for a long time. Then I'll see what other trouble I can get into, or maybe I'll just take a nap.

Two of my favorite plants blooming today!

Bat plant - it has 13 infloresences…it never had that many before. The most was 5.

Edit: I forgot to mention the above photo is from two days ago, before the flowers were fully open.

Red spider lilly. The funny thing is I didn't plant the bulbs. We've been here almost 6 years and they just appeared in my flower bed this year!

Wow! Those are fantastic! Squirrels must have buried the bulbs for the red spider lily and forgot about them. Is the bat plant related to Hostas? That's what I thought it was from the first picture. Enjoy your flowers and thanks for sharing pictures so we can enjoy them too.

I don't think so. Its latin name is Tacca chantrieri. It's in the yam family and a strickly southern plant.

My plant is fully grown at about 3' tall and about 3.5' across.

Tacca integrifolia - Plant Finder

Love that Bat plant. Where could I get one of those locally?
Hubby bought it at Lowes two years ago. If they have it, it's usually this time of year because late summer and early fall is when they bloom.

HOWEVER, be aware that they are a zone 10 and higher plant. They get unhappy at temps below 45-50 degrees for any length of time. They need to be brought indoors then.

I agree with Anise. Never saw a Bat plant before. Very cool. Unfortunately we can't grow them up here which is probably why I've never seen one. Very unusual flower!

The bat plant is gorgeous! I've seen pics of the flower before, but never the whole plant...
