Meet Me in St Louie Louie
No apology needed, Willie! We're all in the same boat, and hopefully, it won't sink!

I give myself about 1/2 hour to watch the news, because invariably, it brings me down......additionally, it has permeated every aspect of our lives, that you can't really get away from it....it's everywhere! My page on F/B is fairly light, but dang, it gets through.
If I do have the 'screen' on, I'd rather watch a Disney film on Netflix or Dr. Pol, or Planet Earth...I know the news will filter through! I may be tagged as hiding, but that's for my own sanity, cause I can get quite wrapped up in all this horror which seems like a bad sci-fi movie.
My husband is a lot tougher than I, and he keeps a cool head, but I'm a mush, so we blend well together!

After the last Presidential Cycle, I swore off anything but the Six O'clock local news .. (followed by "Wheel of Fortune") and stuck with it .. now, the local news is no better .. people could be rioting in the street and it would still be all Virus ..

And I'm sick and tired of the kow-towing advertisers with thinly disguised pleas to buy their goods / services wrapped in some sort of attempted Heart Warming message ..

There is no pressing reason for me to go anywhere but the workshop and the house .. I'm fine with food and other stuff .. so, I have been limiting myself .. I'm still taking in work, I just have a sign out that says "Knock if the Blue Truck is Out Front" .. what are they going to do, arrest me .. ?? I'm following the rules of distance, etc ..

The thing is, this time of year, I generally get a good case of the Wanderlust .. it's getting warmer, but not super hot, the trees are budding, some Spring Flowers are up, it's just time to get on a Road Trip somewhere, Nashville or Memphis would be my picks, an easy 4-5 hours away .. then, I'd take in some good, live music, get some fine dry-rub ribs, toss down some libations, visit a few folks ..

I was slated to go to Myrtle Beach .. no dice ..

This durn blasted virus is stealing my Life .. I know I sound selfish as hell, people out there are suffering ..

I don't have any problem with the "Stay At Home" orders .. (driving from the house to the workshop and back is not creating any issues) .. I'm not going to flout that and, hopefully, those will shave some time off the duration of this thing .. at least the dunce that runs the Great State of Florida finally grew a brain .. or borrowed one ..

I'd be happy to just go out and sit on the back deck but it's too damn cold.

@Uncle Willie ... you're certainly not alone in your feelings. And it goes across age brackets, not just us old geezers. Got these messages from our son today. Sad.

Our playgrounds do have No Trespass signs and warnings of fines. And I think despite the precautions already taken, this is going to get worse before it gets better.
Miles used to ask about going to school, and he’s kind of stopped, which makes me even more sad.

I really want to take the boys to a park or an open field where they can run around, and get them off the block they haven’t left in 3 weeks. But I don’t know if that’s responsible right now and if it violates the stay at home order we’re under right now.

    On a positive note ::

I am on Book 3 of Jeffrey Archer's The Clifton Chronicles Series .. highly recommended, real page turner, sucks you in, incredible cast of characters .. I'm amazed this has not been adapted for a TV series ..

    https://www.amazon.com/Jeffrey-Archer-Clifton-Chronicles-Collection/dp/9123598212/ref=sr_1_2?crid=ODQ4JVI8UKXZ&keywords=the+clifton+chronicles+by+jeffrey+archer&qid=1585771034&s=books&sprefix=the+clifton+,digital-text,175&sr=1-2

Also, found a pretty good site for printed reading material here ::

@Home | New & Used Books from ThriftBooks

Escaping into Books .. it's what I did as a child and a young man .. later in life, it was more of a habit than anything .. can't hardly fall asleep without reading .. Now, I'm letting my mind drift into the narratives again ..

And thanks to all of you for the supportive words .. :)

If you're looking for another page turn try the Geostorm series by Bobby Akart. I think Janet finished it. I'm on book 3 of 6. It's one of the reads you just want to go on to the next chapter to see what happens next.

Pretty unique plot line ... the earth's magnetic poles are shifting and the havoc it is causing. Apparently 'for real' it has happened in our long-long ago past.

I'm scared beyond reason. We only get together with two friends who are as totally careful as we are, sanitizing, hand-washing, wiping everything down before bringing inside including groceries. Our frustration right now is about a few staples we can only find by going into a grocery store and we don’t want to do that…too many people are acting really stupid in stores. Even Amazon is out of stock on stuff. We are high risk…we can’t take chances. So we buy our groceries online, stocked up on essentials and cat food and stay away from stores.

Our governor is an idiot…he refuses to close down the state as others have done and as a result our cases have grown by a thousand each of the last three days. We have the fourth or fifth (depending on the day) number of cases in the country.

    When will this nightmare end?

    When will this nightmare end?

Well we just hit a new beginning in this nightmare. Trent's step Dad is a prison guard and he (the step-Dad) just tested positive. Now we're concerned about Trent. Trent is our daughter's husband's son from his 1st marriage. He lives with his Mom, step-dad, and step-brothers.

I'm afraid we have quite some time before this nightmare settles down and starts subsiding before actually going away.

Can't tell Ya' how I am not concerned, since I am . . . AND - Not that this is still not depressing, because it is . . . However, after going through the HIV/AIDS Pandemic (Still here an going strong even though there is the Prep now) and a number of Hurricanes, including the all day 24/7 reporting - I am kind of null to everything that is happening today . . . As a result, since the Cronvid-19 and all the hysteria started - I just assume everyone has been exposed to Convid-19 (as I did when HIV/AIDS hit ) and a Hurricane is "knocking at the door" once again - except this one is taking longer to go through the area . . . So '"Staying Safe" is more important then ever - it has become almost second nature by now, especially since there is nothing I really can do - I just have to accept that . . . The one thing I can do is just hope that everyone continues to "Stay Safe" as possible and that this will be over sooner then later.

BTW: I only go out when I absolutely have to . . . Like to the Grocery store for a few perishables/necessities (Thankfully - I can by-pass the busy stores since there are at least 7 within 5 miles) and "My" Pharmacy for Medications/other necessities . . . it really helps with the "Cabin Fever" . . .

Other then that, although I have "Stuff" to do, I have been procrastinating even more then I usually do. . . Just Sayin' . . .

at least the dunce that runs the Great State of Florida finally grew a brain .. or borrowed one ..

    NOPE - Still without one . . . NOT GOOD ! ! ! :-x

@MikeE3 oh no. What a nightmare. Have your daughter, husband, and their kids been near Trent's dad? And what is the process for that man's immediate family? Do they get tested?

@Uncle at least with hurricanes we know they’re coming, we prep and when it’s gone life returns to normal or relatively normal depending on the extent of damage. With a pandemic I feel like we live in a giant mine field and no matter how carefully I pick my steps all it takes for disaster to hit is one idiot to step on one mine. That’s why, until this is over Gary will only go to our local grocery store 7-8am (seniors only) and the pharmacy. Both are limiting the number of people allowed in. Sure hope that helps.

From the "Gripe of the Day" file ..

Have any of you seen the latest crop of new vehicle ads .. ?? "We're here to help, we're all in this together .. 84 months financing and 4 months no payments .." as the announcer drones on about safety, buy your vehicle on line, have it delivered .. etc ..

People are cooped up, folks are laid off left and right, some don't know when the next food money will be available .. yet, hey, let's buy a new vehicle .. really .. ??

The car companies should be ashamed ..

They're just trying to survive and also keep their people employed. If people are too stupid to know they can't afford to buy a vehicle that's their problem and they'll have to deal with the consequences, just like the rest of us.

    Hola .. :(

Sometimes, I think my commentary on the current state of things is just a bummer for most all of you to read, you would rather stay more sweet and light .. if so, my apology ..

    I understand ..

Too many times lately, I've just felt lost and alone .. time almost seems to have come to a standstill .. there is no "normal" anymore .. plans can't be made, the Future is as unclear as it's ever been, IMO .. the News beats me over the head day in and day out, yet it's tough to turn away ..

{{{Willie}}}, the future has always been unclear. Today is your normal. Instead of lamenting the fact that it's not the same as yesterday choose to do something with it. Look at it as an opportunity to do something that you haven't had the time to do for awhile. Learn something new, renew contacts with friends by checking in on them. Gather some supplies for your local food bank. Fix a special meal or treat for yourself. Pick up that book you set aside. And limit the news!

Yes, you can go outside and it's encouraged, just don't get close to people. Parks are closed because people do get close and this is a way of stopping that. Our daughter and husband found a parking lot and took their 3 year old to ride his bike after taking off the training wheels. Yay! He took right off on his own.

Cats are funny to watch, especially when they're kittens. I sometimes find myself wondering if they hallucinate all day long. Their personalities change so much as they get older, it keeps life interesting.

    Good morning! :)

Had grocery delivery yesterday, and ordered fruits and veggies......bunch of bananas...nope.....one banana. Squash and other veggies and fruits were delivered as ordered, though.
Delivery woman was excellent......stayed far away from our door, and placed the bags on our front porch.... left an additional tip on the chair, and she had gloves on also.

While outside with gloves, I took each item out of its bag, wiped it down with Lysol, and disposed of the plastic bags in the nearby box I have for trash.

This is our new normal?!? God help us!!
