Good morning. We've got some sun this morning. Feels like a typical Spring morning. 2 days ago we went to Costco. Driving there it was so nice to see the grass greening and different flowers blooming now and the trees all budding up. If you can, it's nice to get out for a drive and see the Spring changes.

We had a post today on our Nextdoor site from somebody complaining about seeing lawn care services mowing grass during a time of quarantine. I'm pretty sure the service is not going to give the grass Covid19. One of the property owners said the service was very careful about not having contact with people and they are listed in our state as a necessary business. If properties are overgrown there is the danger of varmints and disease. Outside activities are healthy and encouraged as long as distances are maintained between people. Stay safe everyone!!

Laser surgery is over for now. The dr said he got rid of a lot of blood and he thinks he stopped the bleeding. I have to go back in 2 weeks for more laser surgery and 2 weeks after that he's going to inject it again. I'm not in pain but I'm very tired. I think I'll lay down for a while. Thanks for prayers and good thoughts. I'm sure they helped!

Glad to hear the surgery went well. I hope it wasn't as bad as you feared. Rest is probably the best thing for you right now.

Hi all. Like you, we're limiting when we have to go out and are very careful. I'm in a small town, surrounded by hot spots in the county. The latest story is that a *!%#** local nursing home (part of a chain) was not following PPE protocols. Several patients tested positive, 2 have died. We're also in the high risk group so it's scary to know it's around us.

Work closed on March 16th and we had to lay off most employees. The state has extended the emergency to May 4 and I'm afraid it will go longer. As admin, I'm now working from home. I've been dealing with employees, the dept. of unemployment assistance, and trying to figure out how we can apply for govt loans along with some of the other usual stuff. My mind is spinning and my to do list keeps growing. I suppose that's a good position to be in but it's stressful. We're hoping to survive this crisis.

The husband and I have been taking a daily walk around town, weather permitting. Other walkers are very considerate, keeping a safe distance. I think this is what is keeping us sane (as much as possible anyway).

Best to everyone - stay safe and well! You're all in my thoughts and heart.

It's good you're keeping busy at least. It's scary to be in the risk group isn't it? People in our neighborhood have been pretty mindful of keeping distances and with so many people out for walks it's strangely a way to meet neighbors we otherwise would never see. Of course everyone can hear conversations while yelling across the street!

On ABC News some researchers are now saying it may be a good idea to wear masks when in public around people. They have asked the CDC to come up with a recommendation. These masks can be the surgical kind or the home-made variety made out of a double layer of cotton. It can also be a scarf tied around your face. The important part is TWO LAYERS of fabric.

Apparently these masks won’t completely stop the virus from reaching us they will at least stop droplets of saliva that may contain the virus.

I posted earlier about the free games at Bigfish. 8 of them and they beat Myst all to heck. If you want to sign up for game club for 6.99, you get a game credit, can cancel anytime. You don't have to be a member of the club to get the free games but if you do, you will then get the punch card credits which will equal a bunch more free games. All in all, you can get about 14 games for the 6.99 fee doing it that way.

Big Fish Games

Hola .. :)

Hey, now .. 'Myst' was state of the art in the 1990's .. :p

My Aunt Anita lives in a condo complex in Myrtle Beach .. her 2nd son is a Doorman at an NYC High Rise .. he was furloughed a few weeks back, so he and his wife decided to visit Anita and make sure she was doing OK, help stock up her stuff, etc ..

The second day they arrived, a Neighborhood Group descended on Anita's condo and demanded to know how soon the folks with NY plates were planning on staying .. and were, apparently, not very pleasant about it ..

She responded by telling them "As long as they damned well please .. " .. maybe not the best reply, they were maintaining "the Rules of Non-Engagement" .. I mean, I don't blame her son .. Mom's 90 .. who knows .. ??

The pull of Blood Relation is a strong urge, in days where some are saying good-bye VIA Facetime .. I can't blame her Son .. I struggled with visiting her or not myself .. she's the closest thing I have left to an actual lineage .. and I've never been Face to Face with her .. (unless I count when I was a practical baby ..)

Around here - It seems all the places where people live, Apartment complexes, Condo/Condominiums/Over 55 Communities, especially in any Senior Housing the Management/Boards/Community Security are becoming the "Gestapo" (even more so now). The Management where I live have sent out the following notices over the past few weeks (editing/paraphrasing) :

1) All Tenants will be required to "Stay At Home" as per the restrictions set Locally, State, and Federal regulations. Limit any visitors, including family / friends. Also included was 15 Day stay at home pamphlet from Federal Government

2) Community Room will be closed, all activities Cancelled, including those receiving "Meals-on-wheels" (must make arrangements to have the meal delivered to your apartments). Changed 2 days later - Community doors will only be open so that people can still "Load" their Landry Cards as long as there is one person there at a time.

3) Management Office will be close - Phone calls only or an appointment; No Maintenance Services unless there is an emergency (only the office will determine if it is an emergency or not); No Exterminator Services - again only if apartment is invested and can be proven; All Quarterly & Yearly Inspections cancelled until further notice. (Yes - Every 3 months they come in to inspect apartment - whether you are there or not - to make sure your following 20 pg "House Rules".)

4) All Rents are still due by the 5th of the Month as stipulated in lease. Must place in "Mail slot" in side door. Failure to do so will result in a lease violation and appropriate actions will be taken. No Cash will be accept - nor receipts given. However, No rents will be accepted before the 1st, since the new floors in the offices are being installed. (They even Taped over the mail slot, until the 31st.)

5) All Laundry Rooms (3) are only available from 7 AM to 5 PM Mon - Fri. They will be closed Sat & Sun. They will be cleaned and sanitized during the day. NO more then one person at a time.

6) No Congregating at Mail boxes, especially when mail is being delivered - Nor at any street side "Benches" (Especially Any Smokers/People who vape - neither are allowed in apt/property). Everyone must maintain 6' "Social Distancing" or benches will be removed.

And - last but not the least, nor probably the last notice we'll get either:

7) As a Reminder - Management is "asking that you follow both Federal and Local guidance and limit any visitors to the community and your apartment . . . except for essential services . . . Visitors are not permitted to enter building for the foreseeable future . . . nor visit until further notice. "We" encourage you to use electronic or virtual communication." (Most of the people here, don't have access or even use the necessary electronics to communicate with people.) Also included was a notice of the Governors Executive Order which went into effect at 12:01 Friday April 3rd (Today) . . . Under this order - "All senior citizens and individuals with a "significant underlying medical condition - must remain at home." . . . "Failure to adhere to this request will result in a lease violation for you as the resident."
Well that's a conundrum - no visitors/no family members/no friends - not that I would have one visiting "Me" . . . ;)

What do Ya' mean I can't go out, even for necessities or to see doctors. Lease Violation - REALLY ? ? ? Well even though I meet the criteria and check all the boxes (Heart Disease, Diabetic, COPD, Asthma, over 65) . . . Come on Lease Violation . . . I already don't go out as it is, unless it is for necessities (including medications) and to see "My" Doctors . . . Matter of fact, I have an appointment with new doctor on Tuesday concerning "My" diabetes (which is still not under control, since I just started insulin) that I must see . . . AND - "My" Pulmonologist too right after . . . Just Sayin' . . .

AND - While most of this reasonable, they are really stepping up confronting people on property and tenants. Worse I can't tell Ya' what it is like around here in the complex. Most of the people here live alone (like "Myself") and having to isolate even more now then they already have - If Ya' could see the faces of the people going to get their mail and/or garbage bins . . . NOT GOOD ! ! !

Frannie .. just so you know, I'm thinking of you .. after 2019 you'd turned the page on that awful year and you expressed some optimism about 2020 .. then, along comes Mr/Mrs Covid .. I honestly hope you're doing fine as can be expected ..

And Dan, my thoughts go out to you as well, my Brother .. I know it's got to be tough, even considering all that you've been thru in your life .. and, after reading the Horror Story on your residence .. I'd be ready to revolt (with a 6' spacing, of course) ..

Good afternoon all. I hope everyone is staying safe and keeping well. I think a run to the store in the next couple of days will need to be done for more of the essentials. To stay safe, I think I'll let Syndee make the trip and stay home. It is a cold and rainy day so I have a pot of vegetable soup with some ground turkey vice beef simmering on the stove. Syndee doesn't like ground beef so I try to keep some ground turkey in the freezer to use in place of beef. I put my foot down when it comes to grilled burgers. Nothing beats ground beef when it comes to a hamburger with pepper jack cheese on top. When the soup is near being ready I'll make a pan of Mom's secret recipe cornbread in the oven to go with it.
After dinner, it will be time to get my nose stuck in a good book. Stay safe and keep your distance.

Jerry

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t expect better for this year.Unfortunately I lack the ability to make things better
