'Afternoon everyone...

We all come from such a variety of backgrounds and have such a diversity of tastes in music, books, etc., that I'm never sure what would be enjoyed by y'all, but at any rate.... If you love the ballet, or dance of any kind, this re-imagining of Swan Lake is Wonderful!! and I wanted to share it....:)

I grew up in a family that had season tickets to the ballet since before I was born so I went from the time I was tiny. I had the privilege to see Rudolph Nureyef, Margot Fonteyn and Baryshnikov dance as well as Peter Martins and Gelsey Kirkland!

This guy is excellent!

I thought tests were only done if you get exposed to an infected person or have the symptoms. Please tell us it was neither in your case…just a careful doctor?

Edit: ok I just read your older post about why you got tested…so forget this one.

Hola .. :)

I don't know how it is in other States, but one of the reasons Illinois has such a high rate is wide-scale testing .. no real hoops to jump through ..

This, I believe, is possibly one of the failures of States that have hoops to jump through and have not really done a good job with wide-scale testing .. in my way of thinking, that could produce artificially low numbers .. I suppose we'll know as time goes by ..

The thing is, we're living in one giant Petri dish, IMO .. if it can be said that one person was Patient Zero in the USA, then, logically, as long as one person carries the Virus, then the chance of more infection remains ..

I do understand the Economic issues involved .. and, I guess it's a fine line the Politicos must walk .. the question being :: How much death can we tolerate in order to try and kickstart an Economy that, for all intents and purposes, is in shambles, whether anyone wants to admit it or not .. and, the longer term implications are quite vast and unknown at this point ..

Events of this type tend to change the course of History, that I believe to be quite true ..

Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone has a good day today!

Today I refuse to think about this contagious thing going around. I'm not even going to speak (type) its name. I'm tired of it. So for today at least it doesn't exist to me. Tomorrow I'll go back to the ridiculous situation of facemasks and sanitizer. Today I'm just going to spend the day indoors watching Netflix.

On another note I think I killed by tablet. I accidentally dropped it in the tub. I don't think its going to dry :censored: That's one fire8 on the way to the garbage. Sigh

Oh no!! So sorry to hear about your Fire8! Fire and water don't mix.

I don't blame you for doing a Netflix. I thought of doing the same thing, but we had stuff to do around here. I got so frustrated and overwhelmed with trying to decide on a front door I cleaned the kitchen floor and did laundry. It's amazing how much I can get done when I'm upset!

Oh I'm first today!

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone has a good day today!

I haven't checked my tablet yet. I think I'll wait till tomorrow. I'm just dreading pulling it out and it still not working. Maybe if I give it another day in the rice bath it'll dry and start working.

Happy Friday, reprobates ;)

Darn, good luck with the tablet, Anise. Of course, paper books don't do well in the tub either... but with them at least it's (usually) only one at a time, not the whole bookshelf!

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Hola .. :)

I drove across the Mississippi yesterday evening and went to St Charles, MO .. where there is a particular Mexican eatery I like .. they had opened with limited indoor seating .. granted, it was a Thursday, yet myself and one other couple were the only folks in the place at around 7:00 PM .. it was somewhat eerie feeling, with tables removed and booths taped off to allow for the minimum 6' distance ..

I did it probably because I could and it's near impossible to get Mexican takeout that's worth eating by the time you get home .. my local joint had given up on takeout .. so, Taco Bell or Taco John's is about it .. (both of which I think are OK for what they are ..)

I guess I was expecting some sort of out the door line, as I had been reading about States that were tip toeing with re-opening and spots had experienced a real crush of business .. (well, maybe not a crush, since how crushing can it be when you're only allowed maybe 25% occupancy) ..

My waitress was masked, and although I tried to engage her in some banter, which is my general way, she was less than receptive ..

There was a steady flow of takeout folks picking up orders, but no one else came in to take a table or booth while I was there .. a meal and a couple of margaritas later, I just did not get that feeling of "All right, Willie, sit down meal, being served, lock-down broken, cheers .." ..

Now, keep in mind, this is Missouri, so, the general populace is somewhat belligerent and I know had to be chafing while the full-on lock-down was on .. yet, it appeared that folks were still reluctant to take advantage of their new found freedom ..

I guess it's baby steps for a while ..

That $1.40 a gallon gas, though, was a bonus ..

Restaurants here can serve meals only if they have outdoor seating so most are at the mercy of the crappy weather too.

Yeah, and, I'd guess, Buffets will be the last to get any all clear .. I do love me some Golden Corral when the Jones hits .. and, there are some pretty good Casino Buffets around here (or used to be)

Even with the outdoor seating the tables have to be 6 feet apart. The City of Keene has partially closed Main Street to allow the restaurants to expand their outdoor seating. I don't think they will do well with the t-storms forecast for today.

A German Café is providing these Pool Noodle Caps to patrons as a Social Distancing Method ::

Some of the noodles are intersecting other noodles. Is there someone in charge of the noodle hats? Think how embarrassing that would be if you're looking for a new job. "Yes sir, I was in charge of noodle distancing " I'd rather be jobless!

Good morning. Woke up to a 65 degree muggy morning. Going up to 76 today so I really better get something done with those plants sitting on the deck.

Yesterday I had to go to the grocery store. People were lined up, six feet apart according to the circle signs on the sidewalk. There were 2 employees at the "Enter" door who would allow 1 person in at a time. Once they chose their cart and headed into the store the next person was allowed to enter. Doesn't sound so bad except I could see the line of people on the sidewalk down to the end of the building. Imagine my surprise when I got to the end of the building the line kept right on going down the back of the building! Then there's the whole checkout procedure. I wouldn't mind that so much, but the checker bags everything in plastic bags and then plops them all into the cart at the end. Yep, my tomatoes were on the bottom. Fortunately she did put the eggs on the top. At least the store itself was not too crowded.

Lines to get in seem to vary quite a bit. Haven't been out enough to see if there's any rhyme or reason to it. Tried for a Costco a couple weeks back, line went from the entrance to about 3/4 the length of the building. It was raining, so we decided to not stand in it. Last Thursday, different Costco, no line at all.

Similar at places like Home Depot, provisions for lines, spacing, limited number of customers.

And yes, even here, it's all back to single use plastic bags. :(
