@Bea-FL Oh my, I tuned into the birds this morning and saw the 4th egg had hatched. The other 3 chicks were squawking for food and the 4th one just laid there. I thought it was dead, but he did finally rouse so I guess it will be ok. Poor little runt.

We have at least 1 pair of bluebirds hanging around the suet so I was interested in a Pinterest post leading to lots of interesting info. I had no idea those cute little house sparrows were so awful! They will actually kill bluebirds and chickadees right in their nests!! Yikes! We never got the bluebird house built, so I was hoping to go to our local Birds and Beyond shop near us for supplies, but with this virus thing they had to close. Rats.

@Janet I worry about that little one too. It takes a day or so to get stronger. In in the stork family the parents regurgitate food in the nest and the kids pick it up to eat which means that as long as the kids are able to do that and the parents bring back plenty there is less competition for it. This nest is in a very good location so there is plenty of food. Lets hope that little guy does ok. We'll know in a couple of days.

It was an accident. I use my phone when I come online and I have big fingers. Usually I catch it when I click on the wrong feeling but I missed this one. I'm very sorry and I'll try to be more careful.
No sweat. I have done the same thing plenty of times. I only asked because I thought you might have a different experience with butterfly shrubs and I like to learn things.

I did notice on the storage inventory sheet(s) from this move that the index numbers (of mostly boxes and some individual objects) ran to the high 700s. That's a LOT of boxes.

Ha! I. bet I have a few things still in boxes from a move back in 1972. (Surely the mantra, "But I might need it someday," has expired on those things. Nah; I'll give them a full 50 years. My new mantra: "If you haven't found a need for it in 50 years, throw it out.") In fact, I have some things my dad bought as actual war surplus back in the 1940s; neither of us have found a use for them yet. OTOH, I grew up using some of those things for various projects, so which would be useful and which would not was not obvious at the time of acquisition nor in the decades that followed. My play-pool as a toddler was made from a wing tank from some WWII fighter plane; hard, black, rubber (self-sealing), and a very odd shape.

You can see the rough edge where my dad hacksawed out an opening in the top of the tank.

I remember opening a box from that 1972 move about 20 years later and found it full of floor sweepings. Apparently one person had swept up and used the box to hold the sweepings; then another person came along, hefted the box, found it full, and neatly taped it up (so of course it got moved). I actually recalled some of the objects in the floor sweepings and was able to date the box from the exact move. I even knew the exact location that had been swept up to fill the box. (Now that is some serious OCD and possibly ARD.)

Us too!! We had friends move us from one house to the next. After I'd boxed everything up I went to the new house with the 1st load and stayed there to unload and direct the loads as they arrived. I opened a trash bag to discover - trash! They moved our trash to the new house!! At least it didn't sit there for 20 years before opening it. It's true though that opening a carefully packed box from that long ago is a little like finding long lost memories.

About a year after Mike and I got married my mother asked me to go through a drawer of stuff I'd left behind. I just never got around to it so I told her to just get rid it. Never even looked in that drawer and you know what, never missed it.

Oops! Wrong thread!

Hola .. :)

Slightly overcast and mild .. humidity is high, which is generally why the sky is white .. I think this morning my gauge said 90% ..

I plan on hitting a couple plant nurseries today or tomorrow .. I have a giant pot that was used in a commercial setting and that I salvaged, it's probably at least 48" in diameter .. I plan on finding me a plant that can live in a pot, outdoors, year round and place it on the deck ..

Suggestions welcome .. my Zone shows -10 to -5o "extreme minimum temperature" ..

You may have already gone to the nursery, but Mike just mentioned that you could look into planting a boxwood in your planter if it will handle your weather. You could even trim it like an interesting topiary. Hey, you could grow a guitar! While it's small just plant a few flowers around it each Spring and it'll be gorgeous!

Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone has a good day today! :)

We're getting a spot on our roof fixed today and getting our carport shored up next week (it would have been done this week but because of rain forcast this week it was put off till next week) I can't wait to get the carport fixed. It makes me very nervous the way it is now. I have DH park in the driveway. It'll be good to have a carport again!

@FranC you're beautiful! I love your long hair! How long is your hair? On my phone it cuts off your picture before it gets to the hair cutting.
If I pull it too the back it goes more than half way to my waist.
