Balmy 36 this AM, heading for 45 :)

Storm said to be coming in, but snow level supposed to stay about 1500' above us. Fine by me!
Exactly the same here David. Hey did you watch the game last night. I don't know about you but again this week some of those calls were really questionable, I think the Seahawks are not paying off the refs enough. Plus loosing Sherman maybe for the rest of the season. Not good. That field goal kicker lost the game for us last week with 3 missed field goals. That was bad. He must have seen his mil a year contract flying outside the goal posts but we save 2 mil by gettin him instead of the other.

Deal of the Day ::

If you need or want a great set of "cans" (headphones) .. bag this AKG model for $20 clams, free shipping, no sales tax in most States ..

AKG K52 Headphones

That is less than 1/2 price of the going rate. But I think I'm Ok with mine. :cool:

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Tomorrow morning, although it will be cold, I plan on heading to Downtown STL and viewing the annual Veterans Day Parade .. there is also a 5K run, which, reluctantly ;), I will not be participating in ..

PVA_Air_Force_ROTC.jpg

Upon it's end, I will head over to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in order to pay my respects and then on to the VA Medical Center, dragging a guitar with me and attempting to get thru a few tunes for the folks holed up there, which I try and do every year .. it's always very emotionally rewarding ..

Jefferson_Barracks_National_Cemetery.JPG

VA3_0.jpg

The final leg of my day will be meeting a few Vets I know at Applebee's .. where we will all be treated to a Free Meal .. we'll have to buy the libations, but that's OK .. thank you to all the places that offer something for the Vets .. it was not so back when I got out ..

applebees-veterans.jpg

Veterans Day, for me, is always the start of the Traditional Holiday Season .. over the years on ECF, I have always encouraged fellow ECFer's (or anyone, for that matter) to consider doing some sort of Volunteer work .. especially over the Holidays .. it does not take much and most areas have an outreach Center that you can contact and see where help is needed .. and, it's always needed .. even just things like calling shut ins and asking how they are doing, giving another Human some contact that let's them know someone cares, and costs you nothing but time .. it's more important now than it's ever been .. and, the truth is, you'll get more out of it than they will and you'll place a deposit in the Karma Bank .. giving a little back does not require money .. it requires the will to find where help is needed and provide it .. showing you care about another Person, even if you don't know them, will give you a deep feeling of Goodness ..

No matter how the Political Wind Blows nor in what direction, we all live in the Greatest Country there is .. I am proud to have served and would do it again with no second thoughts .. I am happy that the Vets and the Military now get the respect they deserve and have earned ..

4th Infantry, Combat Medic, Pleiku Province, Central Highlands, Camp Holloway, Vietnam

So, let me take a moment in closing, to again say thanks to all of you that took a bit of your time during this past week, to spend it here .. it means a lot to me .. We are Friends and we continue to gather around that Digital Campfire .. I want you to all know that I wish you nothing but the Best ..

Please continue to Post your thoughts, issues, memories .. (Within ECF Rules, of course .. ;))

Addendum to Above Peanut Butter Comment .. I always preferred Chunky .. and don't you just hate it when the Act of Spreading shreds your bread .. ?? ;)
Chunky for me, also great for giving meds to dogs... But creamy would work for that too..

...that just means you are putting it on way too thin ! :lol:

Gotta be chunky !
Yeah! :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

We are in Salisbury, MD. 20 degrees tonight, highs in 40s. My thumb is throbbing, along with my arm and, well, crap! Thank whomever for heating pads! It's the only thing that helps. Schedule calls for a show in Fredrick, VA in January. Told DH he will probably be on his own cuz this is just pain.

But I do have a jar of Chunky Jiffy. My fave dog show sandwich is chunky PB (spread thick) and Strawberry preserves. Grew up with grape jelly, old age I prefer Strawberry.

Thanking all the Veterans for their service!

Oh, yeah? If you want to have some fun, give a glob of peanut butter to a cat. Mostly, they love the stuff, but their little mouths simply can't handle the stuff. Fun to watch them try, though.

    No cats here. Although I love cats, DH is allergic so, well, no. :( I have had several very neat cats in my life and miss them.

    If you microwave it for a few seconds it gets nice and soft and spreads easy.

    I don't eat peanut butter ... guess I'm un-American ... I've never eaten a PB&J sandwich. :confused:
    Me neither.… oh, come on, please don't shoot me :cry:
    It just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe because I grew up in Greece and we didn't have peanut butter and jelly and jam was meant to be spread on bread with a nice layer of yummy butter in between :)

    Addendum to the Food Label Comment :: (coffee has now fully done it's job) .. Some of these labels are printed so small, you practically need a microscope to read .. thusly, the Glasses Necklace became a must .. :)
    You can also use your phone camera as a magnifier in a pinch!

    Yes, did watch, and I agree on some of the calls. Yeah, Sherman's out for the season, and nope, not at all good. :(

    While any of the three missed FGs against the 'skins last Sunday would have changed the outcome, so would several missed opportunities by the offense and even more penalties than last night would have as well. Wasn't a good day for the team, and even with the win last night, not a good night for the team. We'll see how good their depth roster is, fortunately in 11 days (MNF), so they'll have more time to fit into the scheme.

    Me too. I think its great now for the vets and the military in the way they are viewed by the public. Things have changed alot from the 60s and 70s.
