Hmmm, boys slept to almost 6:30 so that was a good start. Then to my amazement they were very methodical about opening the gifts and sharing with each other. What a difference a year makes. There was still a mess, but they even helped clean up!! It's a miracle!

The boys got skateboards, but I don't think they're going to be trying them out outside yet. It's currently 27 outside, but we have blue, sunny skies and no snow and ice to hamper visiting.

Tomorrow our son and his family will be coming over and we'll do this all over again. That will be Christmas #2. Then Brian's family will be flying in for 2 days for Christmas #3! Whew!

Meanwhile, I'm wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and holiday week.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, I know I did. Went 3 days without internet (grrrr) but was happy when it came back on today. Thank goodness I have my phone. I am not sure what I would do without it. I am not going to have internet down at the coast so it was good practice for me. heehee

I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of my oinkfest at my friends sister's house. I have never seen a family that loves to eat as much or hug as much.

I spent most of today putting away all the Christmas decorations. I miss the red lightbulbs. I found a blue one in the cabinet and it makes me happy too. I am ready for the new year and even though it is an odd numbered year (I don't like odd numbers) I think it is going to be an awesome year for me and I hope it is for y'all too!

LOL, so you're saying ya still haven't found what yer lookin' for???
Nope, and I am not going to worry about it. Life is too short.

Sounds like all of you are having great holidays. I managed to not get sick with all the sick people here over months until a week ago. Covid, I think and it is bad. If I am not back before then, Happy New Year everyone.

    Dang, Rose, get yourself healthy!

Summer arrived some time overnight. 55 atm, and it's not quite 6 am.... And rain, perhaps lots of that. From 20 below normal to 15 over in a day. Poor thermometer is getting whiplash!

At least maybe my GD can fly out of SeaTac on Wed. Hope we can pick her up, snowed here again and gas shortage so who knows.

Well, I made it here before Fran this morning. Had to get up so I could take a shower and get ready for my adventure. heehee I cannot tell y'all how excited I am to be doing something that I am pretty sure is going to be FUN!

We leave for the coast @ 8 and I think I packed everything but my ukulele (it was to cold to play it outside or I would have, heehee). Because I have never traveled very much, I know I have taken way more than I needed to. I will know better next time what I need to take or not. This is good practice because I want to go and see things I have never seen and I am not talking about Walmart.

I will have to be posting on my phone since where I am going does not have internet. But if by chance I cannot because I am having too much fun, I hope everyone has a beautiful and happy New Year. It is going to be such an awesome year even if it is an odd-numbered year.

    Gas shortage? Like, gasoline?
Yes, most of our stations were closed due to no gas. I think it might be better, it might have been due to the weather. We have had severe weather and roads have been bad. I am too sick to do much checking. I know I talked to my vet yesterday and he was having trouble even with his truck. My older dog is about to be out of medication and I cannot make it in to get it. I asked if he could mail it and he is trying to work something out.

Morning, lizards. Although there won't be any sun to bask in here! Soggy and warm, and so far the winds they predict haven't been too bad. Hope that part continues. As much rain as we've gotten, strong wind often bring down trees, and power goes away...

Hope you can get the pooch meds, Rose. And that the gas stations can get restocked!

Have a great trip, Rat, and don't forget your vape supplies!!

Oh no! So sorry to hear you're sick! I hope it passes quickly. We lucked out and didn't get very sick at all, but not everyone has been this lucky. I hope you feel better super quick!

Oh my gosh. On the 2nd day of Christmas here with all 4 boys chasing each other around playing laser tag and just the 'normal' chaos and pandemonium 4 young ones can generate .... I thought I might turn into an old curmudgeon and chase them all outside even though the temperature was pretty low. Yikes!

But, nope, I wouldn't have missed it for anything. It was so nice having the whole family together even with the commotion of the 4 grandsons.

    Morning, all.

Sunny and warm. Somewhere, just not here ;)

Although we did dodge the worst of the winds, and they claim the snow level is coming back down, so maybe the usual spots won't be as badly flooded as expected!

    Yeah, joyful chaos :)

@rosesense How are you feeling today?

The house is quiet at the moment. The rest of the family was being joined by more family for lunch today so I stayed home to do laundry.

Mike drove back to our old neighborhood to do some errands. One stop is at the post office for any mail they might be holding for us. There was a sign on the door saying closed til 1:30 for lunch. Huh? It's the main post office for that area! So he did some running around and went back at 1:30 where there already was a huge line. Ugh! Oh well, at least he didn't have to fly anywhere! I love Southwest, but boy did they mess up this holiday! I feel so bad for those people who are stuck at airports.

A bit better but this is the worst stuff ever. Over one week and I can barely function. Didn't help to have a snow/ice storm, plumbing issues again, dog running out of meds and I couldn't go get them. I will have to go in a couple days and pick some up. She is already having IBS flare ups and having to clean that up on top of being sick is no fun. Enough of my woes, I am enjoying reading about all the fun all of you are having over the holidays.

    Morning, misfits.

We did have a sunny day yesterday, but that's all in the rear view mirror now. But snow said to stay above about 2500' so no need for shovels. Yeah, the usual places are needing buckets and sand bags...

Hope you can get that turned around soon, Rose! And that you can get the meds for the pup!!

Good morning whoever is up. Rose, I hope you're feeling better today.

We managed to survive yesterday with 7 family members visiting the 6 of us here at the house. Chaos, but we did have a good time.

Today is Brody's birthday. He's now 4 years old. The youngest of the 4 grandsons. We'll give him his birthday present today, but a party is planned for him in February when he can invite some of his friends from school. They're having Jungle Jim come with his many animals - Brody loves animals. We hear he does a great job at birthday parties so this will be something different and I'm going to enjoy it too.

Tomorrow Brian's mother ad friend will be coming for the day so we'll have 1 more day of visitors before we can relax from all the entertaining. It's been fun, but I'm ready for a lazy day.

Next up - New Year Celebrations and our traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner!

    traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner!

    Hola .. :)

I have a good quantity of pulled pork that I slow cooked in my meat smoker late last Summer and froze .. do you think that would work in your pork / kraut dish .. ?? If so, any recipe tips would be great ..

This, combined with the traditional lucky black eye peas on NYD would offer up a double dose of luck in 2023 ..
