Uh, no, not Janet, but a search on "pulled pork and sauerkraut" only has about 2 1/2 million hits ;)

Here's some that caught my eye (and you already have the pork :) )

No, haven't tried any.

Whew! This was the first semi-quiet day Janet and I have had for months. What with the packing and moving and then getting ready for Christmas. And then every day since Christmas until today there's been a house full of people. We took time out this afternoon and chilled by taking a long early afternoon nap.

And we're getting a break in the weather. Supposed to hit 55 the next 3 days then Mon, Tue, Wed of next week are forecasted for 58, 61, and 66 degrees. I certainly take that over single digit temps.

Morning, lizards.

Bloody hell ... 24 hours without a post, I'm talking to myself here.

Hey, we just wanted to let you and Janet enjoy the peace and quiet ;)

Rain continues here, and only that at our elevation. Predicted heavy winds never showed up (here, anyway!) for which we're all grateful.

Shwew! We're finally going to have some piece and quiet for the next 24 hours. Kate and her family are leaving soon to go to my nieces (Suizie and Chris) house to celebrate New Years. They'll be home tomorrow afternoon for New Years Day pork and sauerkraut dinner.

I believe they're going bowling tonight then back to he house. Trent (Brian's son from previous marriage) just turned 16. He likes visiting my nieces because they have two teenage girls. This not the first time Trent was along for an overnighter at Sue and Chris's. He gets along good with the girls. Actually he's in his glory hanging around with two good looking gals.

So Janet and I will have a quiet evening saying good bye to 2022 and if Janet can keep me awake until midnight we'll welcome in the New Year also. Looking forward to the New Year with new beginning's in a new house. But I must say it's nice seeing so much of the two grand boys on a day-to-day basis. When the time comes to move out I'll miss that.

Hola .. :)

Will be hitting a NYE party tonight .. it's been my tradition as long as I can remember .. will have a non-imbibing friend along just in case, although there are several watering holes that offer a free ride home if you need it .. this party will feature Karaoke so for those of you that remember the fool I made of myself during the peak periods of the Pandemic with my series of videos (if you've forgotten, I can't blame you) .. I will probably be singing, especially after tilting back a few ..

At any rate, as it's my way to stay away from all things on-line on Sundays, let me entreat you to a few New Years alternate vows ::

Rise from bed every morning, waggle your fingers and say, “It’s showtime!”

In your closet and your life, subtract whenever you add ..

Ground yourself in the joyful parts of your life .. I try this daily at the advice of my shrink, but it's hard, so hard ..

Remember, everyone is going through something .. shrink advice as well, still tough, very tough ..

Dance often .. easy .. just put on a favorite tune, crank it up and move .. I'm certainly no Fred Astair, but it works even if shaking that booty gets a little, er, stiff ..

Just because you don't have to keep working, does not mean you should quit .. whether it's a hobby, a small business or an actual job you like ..

If you think of a thing you’ll need soon, buy it now and get it over ..

Be where your feet are ..

Anyone else feel the need to share a bit of our collective years of life lessons, here's your chance ..

Although this may or may not be my final post of 2022, let me say, before I forget ..

"Here's to you and here's to me,
Friends may we always be!
But, if by chance we disagree,
Up yours! Here's to me!"

"Here’s to good friends,
Never above you,
Never below you,
Always beside you."

"Take everything in moderation, including moderation."

Lastly, raise a glass to the many, many that have graced us for a time here around our Digital Campfire over the years .. thanks to all .. those that have come and gone, those that have passed, those that just moved on .. it's been a great ride ..

I'll possibly tune in hourly, or so, to catch the light shows around the world.

And set the DVR for anything domestic after 10 :)
Uncle Wilie's might be more fun and exciting but your's is much more sensible .... I like it. :)

Hey there people. It's the end of 2022 and now we're all going to start writing the next chapter of our lives in 2023. I write a Christmas letter each year and keep a copy for myself. Turns out it's like a diary of our lives over the years and I can look back and see the highlights. Nice.

@Uncle Willie When I've defrosted pulled pork I either serve it over rice if I don't have some Amoroso's rolls. Or sometimes I just serve it on a plate with fried sauerkraut. Oh, have you ever made sauerkraut and put some pork gravy on it? Nice twist. Our traditional meal is roast pork (pork tenderloin this year) with gravy, mashed potatoes (since we haven't had them in ages due to the diet) and fried kraut. My MIL used to make the pork roast etc, but she also made Filtakraut which is a ground pork/rice mixture wrapped in cabbage leaves nestled in kraut.

Happy New Year, Lizards!

I’m glad everyone had a nice Christmas, and I hope y’all are having a wonderful New Year so far!

Between Christmas and New Year, I had a few days at work and a few days off, which were spent cleaning and running errands. I was a party pooper last night, went to bed at 10:30  I was likely still awake at midnight, tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable with this stupid left arm. My back feels better but if this arm doesn’t get itself together soon, I may have to break down and see a doc.

Speaking of breaking down, my washer is acting up. I remember the commercials on TV with the poor old Maytag repair man, bored to death with nothing to do. I guess that’s because machines were made better and easier to diagnose. Now they are far too complicated and touchy! Hopefully I can find a repair man who can fit me in his schedule sometime during 2023. My machine has the auto water-sensing conservation mode, and the option for the “full water” wash (where the whole tub fills with water). it still does okay with the full water wash, for now anyway.

In other news (sorry this a long post, I’m catching up since I haven’t been on in a few days lol) my husband admitted that he bummed a cigarette off of a coworker one day a couple weeks ago. He said it was absolutely awful and almost made him sick. I am still convinced that if I have just one, I will immediately backslide into smoking 2 packs a day. Logic tells me that I would likely have the same reaction as Hubs, but my brain still has very fond memories of Marlboro lights! My brother’s cigarette smoke still smelled good at Christmas, so I’m not out of the danger zone. I may never be, but vaping is still doing the trick so I’m grateful for it.

I’m off to have another cup of coffee and make some breakfast. I hope to shampoo my living room carpet today, and hopefully my washer will limp through another load or two of laundry. It’s going to be almost 70 degrees - crazy to think that temps were in the single digits this time last week!

Good morning on this 1st day of 2023. We did stay up to watch the ball drop, but then went to bed. I read until after 1:00 so why did I wake up at 6:00? There weren't even any little people to make noise to wake us up.

Mike and I stayed home for a quiet evening while the rest of the family went bowling and then to a cousins house to party and stay for the night. With all the activities/visitors we've had this past week a quiet evening was a great way for us to start the New Year.

@LovesButtercups So, does your hubby also vape? It's been great that Mike and I could take this journey together. It's so much better than trying to go it alone.

I know what you mean about somebody's cigarette smoke smelling great. For me there's something about that first puff that smells so good, but after that I don't like it at all. I'm SO glad I don't smell like an ashtray anymore which also has the perk of being able to stealth vape pretty much wherever I want.
