Good morning on this 1st day of 2023. We did stay up to watch the ball drop, but then went to bed. I read until after 1:00 so why did I wake up at 6:00? There weren't even any little people to make noise to wake us up.

Mike and I stayed home for a quiet evening while the rest of the family went bowling and then to a cousins house to party and stay for the night. With all the activities/visitors we've had this past week a quiet evening was a great way for us to start the New Year.

@LovesButtercups So, does your hubby also vape? It's been great that Mike and I could take this journey together. It's so much better than trying to go it alone.

I know what you mean about somebody's cigarette smoke smelling great. For me there's something about that first puff that smells so good, but after that I don't like it at all. I'm SO glad I don't smell like an ashtray anymore which also has the perk of being able to stealth vape pretty much wherever I want.
Yes, he vapes - I don’t think I would ever have quit smoking alone. I tried several times, but never got very far because it was too easy to grab his cigarettes! We quit smoking and started vaping together, which made all the difference for me. He said he was really aggravated that day and was just curious how a cigarette would taste after all this time. He said he figured it would taste bad, but he was a bit surprised at how truly terrible it was. LOL

I do enjoy the stealth vaping…there’s certainly no stealthy way to have a cigarette. When Hubs was having his surgery earlier this year, I vaped a few puffs in the restroom while waiting for him to get discharged. I don‘t do that too often but it’s nice to have the option! I feel like I can go without vaping longer than I could a cigarette…maybe it’s in my head, but a couple of hours without a cigarette would have me ready to climb the walls. It’s not nearly as bad since I started vaping. Don’t get me wrong, I’d still be having a nicotine fit eventually, but it seems to take longer for me to reach that point now, which is nice.

I’m glad you guys were able to enjoy a nice, quiet evening…its nice to have some time to relax and recharge!

Morning all.

A bit brisk overnight, but only a bit. 30's not bad :)

More rain on the way, but we did have two sunny days in between.

I don't think you're alone with that thought :) Many, self included, are of the same mind. Perhaps because we've moved past all the other alkyloids in burned tobacco? Dunno, but it's been noticed by a lot of us.

Hola .. :)

Sadly, a PV is generally a permanent appendage in my hand .. much like a smart phone is with a large swath of the populace ..

It is for me too, if I’m at home! But on those occasions where you have to go an extended period of time where vaping isn’t allowed, I can deal with the cravings A LOT easier. Luckily for the people around me, this means that I am also much easier to deal with, also

In other news (sorry this a long post, I’m catching up since I haven’t been on in a few days lol) my husband admitted that he bummed a cigarette off of a coworker one day a couple weeks ago. He said it was absolutely awful and almost made him sick. I am still convinced that if I have just one, I will immediately backslide into smoking 2 packs a day. Logic tells me that I would likely have the same reaction as Hubs, but my brain still has very fond memories of Marlboro lights! My brother’s cigarette smoke still smelled good at Christmas, so I’m not out of the danger zone. I may never be, but vaping is still doing the trick so I’m grateful for it.
I had annual "commitment" smokes for the first few years after I quit. Around the third year I forgot, and never had one since. It took me about two or three years for !!fresh!!! cigarette smoke (stale was always stinky) to quit smelling good. I suspect that it is a fairly good indicator of when you are fairly free from the smokies, so keep on quitting.

Here's some tricks for stealth vaping: carry a small towel (or even a terry washcloth) and fold it for several thicknesses. Exhale through that and there is no visible cloud. Reasonably discrete vaping can be done in some of the most impossible places. Unless someone is watching you with intent to discover, you can cover the mouthpiece of your vaping rig with a forefinger and not draw attention to yourself.

A caveat: if you are hooked up to monitoring equipment (as in a hospital) a couple of good puffs will momentarily raise your heartrate (tachycardia). I've had a nurse rush in to look me over. I just said "nicotine tachycardia" and she shrugged and left. I don't know why she didn't ask me where I got the nicotine.

Good morning. Woke up to 50 degrees this morning, going to 60 today! It is going to be a rainy day though. We're looking at temps in the mid 40s or so for the next 10 days so that's nice.

Christmas is almost gone from the house. The tree needs to be dismantled, but the house is decoration free. Now we just have to put away all these boxes until next year.

Now to get back to our usual schedule of cleaning, laundry, doc visits and planning on the painting we promised to do here at our daughter's house. I'm not good at decorating so I'm checking out the decor in the houses we're looking at online. Decisions, decisions.

Like a lot of us I find it's easier to go longer without a vape (if absolutely necessary) than a cigarette. Mostly I always have a PV with me even between rooms in the house. And if i need to stealth vape I find that exhaling through any cloth or tissue covers my tracks pretty effectively. Never could have gotten away with that with a cigarette!

Morning, all.

Another soggy day here, but still not needing a shovel, so no problem :)

And looks to be that way for the coming week, as storms roll through.

and planning on the painting we promised to do here at our daughter's house.

Maybe this? ;)

Bloody hell ... 24 hours without a post, I'm talking to myself here.
That only happens when "The Rat" is out of town!

And it would not have happened this time if ecf on my phone was not acting so wonky. I could not even find ecf on Tapatalk like I used to do. Since we did not have wi-fi where I was going, I did not even take my laptop. I was surprised that I did not miss it as much as I thought I would.

Had an amazing trip to Sea Level. It is a beautiful place on the coast. Seeing the sun come up and go down over water speaks to my soul the loudest of anywhere I have ever been.

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's. I enjoyed the fireworks but was disappointed that I did not get kissed at midnight. I was looking forward to that since the only memory I have is a dog licking me at the only New Year's party I ever went to. Oh well, I eventually did get kissed that night but it did not count as my New Year's kiss. Although it was quite enjoyable.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day on the boat; believe it or not, I think I will get my fishing license the next time I go. Not because I want to catch any fish but because I want to put my pole in the water. I find it very relaxing.

Terry had sold his big boat last year so we did not go into the ocean but that was okay because the places he took me were beautiful. He even let me drive it a little way but not as fast as I wanted. Maybe next time.

The one restaurant they had was closed for the week of New Year's. Darn it. But we ate just fine. There were two other couples that fed us a couple of nights and while he went deer/bear hunting before the end of the season, I cooked for the first time since dad passed away. If I must say so myself. . . the o'l girl still has it! heehee I think he was quite surprised. Heck, I was surprised. I cooked in a man's kitchen where the cabinets were not organized at all. I want you to know that I did not change one thing (I fought the urge). But if he takes me back and expects vittles from me, he has got to move the box of envelopes away from his canned goods. That's just not right.

It was a nice break but I am going to go to the gym and try to get off the couple of lbs my oinkfest produced. Have a wonderful day!

Holidays are over. Now my medical schedule gets crazy for the next few weeks. Starting this week into the 1st week of February I have at least 1 doctor appointment or test scheduled. Well if nothing is found at least I get it all over with for the year.

Good morning! What a great day it is going to be. How's that for optimism? heehee What makes today so great? Because it feels like rain and I'm not gonna let it stop me from getting off this couch. I'm going back to the gym too. I was so surprised that the oinkfest only produced a 2 pound weight gain. I would have been 4 but I finally went to the bathroom.

I thought maybe my friend would need a while to recuperate from spending a week with me 24/7 but nope, he called last night and asked me out to dinner. I think he is a trooper.

It has already started raining. But I'm not going to let it dampen my day. (heehee, get it?)

Morning, all.

Golly, Rat, you're starting to sound like someone from the PNW. If rain stopped us, we'd never do anything! (Although for most in western WA, a little snow is a calamity! :) )

And, yep, rain is back, but temp here is over freezing.
