I don't have a car to dig out anymore, I always have the pantry stocked with staples, and if I didn't have to clean off the sidewalk out front, I wouldn't mind the amount of snow I get here. I don't think I could handle the amount you get in NH....

As I posted on another thread we had a little excitement this evening. I got my new bread knife in the mail today from Amazon so I tried it. Wellllllll, it cuts bread really well but it also cut the palm of my hand because of the way I held the loaf of bread to cut it. 3" laceration . Stupid me . It cost me a trip to the ER and 6 stitches.

@yiddleboge6 no military or diplomatic family. My father was Greek but my mother was French. We lived in Greece but my mother's greek was not very good so she spoke french to me.

Yep you are lucky. @clnire is still having problems with her thumb, and it is important in her work. Did the advertisement say it was sharp?

Plenty of reasons to delve into linguistics over at the other place. Multilingual homes often make for bright children.

Maybe .. but the same nagging question pops into my head each and every year .. ::

"People have a whole year to get done what they need done .. so, why, oh why, do they wait till December ??"

I turned away 3 jobs today .. telling the people that they can either leave it and I'll see if I can get to it, but won't guarantee I can before Christmas .. they left in a huff .. oh, well ..

I hate to pass up the money, but I've never promised anything to anyone that I was doubtful I could deliver .. as it is, I'm going to have to work a few late nights at the workshop .. I have no Elves to Pitch in and it's screwing with my Feng shui .. ommmmmmmmmm ..
Try working facing north & humming Here Comes Santa Claus?

Oh no! I can just picture how you were holding the bread - so many people do that! You didn't go deep enough to cut any tendons did you? Now just be careful it doesn't get infected. Maybe put some Neosporin on it? I hope it heals up quickly for you and I'm glad you didn't cut anything off!
