Dear Janet & Mike ::

Where's the Update on the Theater Outing .. ?? And, Pics if you got 'em .. :)

Sincerely;
Willie

It was very nice evening. We had dinner just down the street of the theater. Then when we got to the theater there was a parking space waiting for us at the door! The play was very good. It's amazing what can be done on a shoestring and small space. It's an old barn that's been converted to a 110 seat theater so there's not much room for a large stage. Some creative painting, very few props and clever costuming was very impressive. The personalities of the actors came through loud and clear as did their voices. Years ago I'd tried to get tickets, but I couldn't get them on the phone and then never pursued it later. They've improved a lot so it's quite possible that we'll go again sometime. Sorry, no pictures, it was getting dark so maybe next time.

This was posted on my FB. I took a self-defense course from a cop many many years ago and she mentioned many of these things. I have implemented every one of them since. They are excellent advice!

"WRITTEN BY A COP: Everyone should take 5 minutes to read this. It may save your life or a loved one's life. In daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency situation... This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your children, & everyone you know. After reading these 9 crucial tips, forward them to someone you care about. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do :The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide. If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse,
DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you... Chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse.
RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy.. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc.
DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head,
and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR ,
LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE..

If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF, Repeat:
DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it. As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
A.) Be aware:look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor ,
and in the back seat.
B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door.
Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women
are attempting to get into their cars. C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side.. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!)

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN!
The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then,
it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late
and she thought it was weird.. The police told her 'Whatever you do, DO NOT
open the door..' The lady then said that it sounded like the baby
had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way,
whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.' He told her that they think a serial killer
has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby.. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night.

10. Water scam! If you wake up in the middle of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a burst pipe, DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your outside taps full blast so that you will go out to investigate and then attack.

Send this to anyone you know that may need
to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it
and it's better to be safe than sorry..It may save your life or
a loved one's life."

Not my pictures, from the Playcrafter's FB page.

The theater entrance is up the stairway. The downstairs door is to a small lounge area with a refreshment/snack bar. And I saw a few folks bring their own bottle of wine.

Good morning everyone. Job day went so great, I didn't even know what to do, I got back at like after 9 though due to program director moving my meeting to 1.5 hours later and like, he was hard to read (it was also at the clinic furthest from my house) and he was SUPER hard to read, he really was. Everyone else, whom I loved, seemed to want me to rent a hotel room and stay, and it was a really fantastic agency, but of course, director is the one that counts. I will be devastated and dismayed but I am waiting for a "we are moving forward" email, and etc.

Not going to even talk too much more about it, other than to say, I await my email and I would MOVE for this job and I DON'T EVEN get why patience is a virtue in my opinion it totally ISN'T. A normal workday commute without oh, and extra 4.5 hours tacked on to the end would have been totally FINE, it wasn't even that bad yesterday although I did sleep in. I needed it.

Please cross fingers and pray especially you Phyllis I hope your door/window metaphor analogy doesn't hold true for me today (or whatever it was, I forget, still waking up I slept until 10 p.m. and I am GLAD) so I am still awakening.

I want this entry way or transition or whatever it's called.

Anna

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
For the cost of a printer get it ready made:

Bodyguard Bulletproof Clothing | Self Defense Company

I took a browse around to see what I would be getting for my $500 + Sale Price .. the following kind of quashed it ::

Testing your jacket will void warranty.

The jacket will lose its ballistic integrity after it has been shot, stabbed or spiked and must be replaced

If the jacket saves your life we will replace it free of charge. You will need to provide a police report or other documentation stating that it was a real event. In turn we will give you a replacement jacket and tell your story.

Mainly, the "If the jacket saves your life" part .. if .. ?? Really .. ?? .. of course, if you're dead, no Free Jacket .. o_O

We decided to do something different today so we visited an art museum in Jacksonville. Neither of us was too impressed with the paitings collection but they do have Remington's most famous work, his first one, "The bronco buster".
IMG_4158.JPG

Other than that sculpture the best part of the museum was the grounds which were once designed by a lanscape architect back in the 20s when the property was home to a very wealthy family.

Look at this live oak in the yard. It's on its way to becoming an "angel tree"! That's my hub in front of it. Some of its branches were 60+ feet long and were resting on the ground for most of their length.

For those of you not familiar with the term "angel tree" here it is from Wikipedia: "Angel Oak is a Southern live oak (Quercus virginiana) located in Angel Oak Park on Johns Island near Charleston, South Carolina. The tree is estimated to be 400-500 years old. It stands 66.5 ft (20 m) tall, measures 28 ft (8.5 m) in circumference, and produces shade that covers 17,200 square feet (1,600 m2). Its longest branch distance is 187 ft in length." And here is its picture.

@Flowersoul I took the two photos below for you. I've heard such plantings called "living walls". These are both about 10' tall and the fabric used is black felt with horizontal slits cut into it for the plantings. This first one is mostly ferns and I didn't realize until I looked at my photo that the plants form a figure 8!

Before I forget. @yiddleboge6 I read sonewhere that Kroger's now offers free grocery delivery if it's over $35. I thought that might be useful to you if you have a Kroger's near by.
Thanks for the info, but nope....no Kroger's around here...

YAY, I got my "we are sending an offer!" email. I'm SO EXCITED. Kind almost excited even that the husband and I will be moving to Rural America for reals. He's been looking at land plus utilities and we can buy a newer (maybe smaller) heh I'm just going to call it mobile/manufactured home, really for way less than here, and sliiiiiiiiiiidddde away from one of the worst towns in AZ (is my firm belief, it really is, other than maybe the US side of Nogales, that is a BONE crushingly horrific town, like I kind of got the impression that it was filled with the rotting corpses of homeowners who have Given Up on Life Eternally.

I plan to leave a LOT of the moving business to the husband, since I'll be working and commuting, but man, I have to say a LOT was appealing besides that job, I mean trees and snow, and like, scenery. I am CERTAIN the commute would get burdensome over time, in any case, and I genuinely believe that if you are working in community health, you should be somewhat near to the community to do it. Etc. So, I'm happy, it will be cheaper, not more expensive and I am making SURE we will be budgeted for a tiny RV, so that's a lot of shiny right there and YES moving is the Suck, but so is commuting so I bet it all balances out, plus Tucson has not been kind to my family AT all, and I could even see the husband "doing something" up there, what I do not know, maybe working for goatherders and etc., ,but like, something. Etc.

This is the kind of federally qualified health center (it's in the top 5 percent) that is hard to do, but I could see myself working there a LONG time and then retiring and whatnot.

Kiddo called he is all excited for me and the husband was like, "I can legally grow my own long list of things ending with the word that, well, you just want to LOVE to hear your husband say, as a Future Freaking Behavioralist Specialist, like great, everyone's gonna be like "You know, that's Anna who maintains a healthy garden with "hemp" stuff stuck in the middle."

He is SO doing that inside and only if it IS legal (probably) but that would actually save money Too,. LOL.

totally agree. I cry when I see them getting chopped down. Aside from the fact that it takes ages to get realy large, old trees provide habitat for all sorts of creatures, shade for us and do a great job filtering the air we breathe.

I've lost mature trees on our property due to storms and that always made me sad. I've only removed 'on purpose' two big trees and I did that with remorse ... I felt bad taking out perfectly healthy good trees.

The one planted on the corner of our house was only about 15 years old. I was told it would reach a height of less than 12-15 feet. It was planted on the corner of the house and was over 3 stories tall. It became a constant problem kept off the siding and roof of the house.

The other was at lease 40+ years old out by the garden. It was a messy tree all year long dropping large clumps of twigs/branches. It's roots where beginning to heave the driveway and it's leafs were blocking most the the garden from getting sunshine. Yep, was time to cull that one too. I've never see a tree stump push out so much sap. It must have bleed for two days and left a large puddle of sap at it's base. Sad!
