I do believe I'm gonna ELIMINATE FB:-x:-x:-x
I am considering it. I only joined it because most of my friends are still back home and they communicate through FB. If I want to stay part of that circle I have to keep FB :)
And, as an Addendum, you'll not taste better Ribs, Pulled Pork, Collard Greens, Tamales (yes, Tamales .. :)), Fried Chicken and just Good 'Ole Southern Cooking than what's available in the Delta ..
Oh Willie! I sure love this one!
You are so right about the south. Your description of the people is spot on. They are my kind of people…unpretentious, simple, natural, give you the shirt of their back, kind of people.

Unfortunately you are also right about the racism. It isn't as overt anymore but it is still here as strong as ever. These days people lean over and whisper "you know he/she is black" or "there are lots of blacks living there", etc etc. instead of saying it out loud. I HATE it with a passion.

Aw, shucks .. :) .. Bad night last night,

Nice to know that I'm not alone in having a bad night...or two...;) Thursday was an insomniac night and only got about 3 hours of sleep. Had to be up early as Daughter was coming by to pick up something. Oddly, she also had a badly sleepless night.

What the h3ll's going on ... I too had a really bad night last night (Friday night) ... I just could not get to sleep at all. Beat I was all day today ... but I just mentally pushed myself and got a bunch of stuff done. Sitting back now having a Mojito with fresh mint that Janet grows on the back porch.

. Yes, I got something, and realized that tiny bottle should last me the rest of my life. Will not vape it.

CeeBeeDee. I was taking it in small amounts for pain for several days. Effective, but my sleep was impaired. So I did some research, and, unlike most pain meds, it is energizing. So yesterday, after my morning dose, I took no more. Then I crashed at 4 in the afternoon, and made up my sleep deficit. This morning I had a few drops, and now I am eager to get to bed. The more exercise I get, the better I sleep.

I would caution against stereotyping. I have known many Northerners who are racist.

Here, though, people call me a Southerner. Sigh. Yes, Missouri was just across the river, but... but... but....

So, yesterday afternoon, I laid down for a nap at 4:30 PM. I woke up at 12:30 AM. I puttered around until 2:00 AM, went back to bed and slept until 6:40 AM. Yes, I got something, and realized that tiny bottle should last me the rest of my life. Will not vape it.

Maybe you just vaped too much?

Is that legally even any of their dammnn business???!!!!

Yeah, it might be if they're trying not to have people directed here when they try to look up the subject. At least that's my understanding.

I do believe I'm gonna ELIMINATE FB:-x:-x:-x

The only reason I signed up was because my daughter said if we wanted to know what our son was doing we'd have to join. Sheesh. The daughter lived on the west coast, we're on the east coast and we knew everything that was going on in her life and hardly anything about our son who lived 20 minutes away. Sons just don't seem to communicate like daughters do. So, once every 6 months I check in for posted pictures, but not to post. It just bothers me that 110 people want me be my friend. I don't even know these people!! And I really don't care what food is on their plates unless they're showing a spectacular, very special meal they've made themselves. It's just to invasive.

You know, back when I settled down in the STL area, we had 4 distinct Seasons .. and, it was great .. lately, we're kinda getting down to two .. Summer (hot/humid) .. Winter (sometimes sub zero) .. I hope things get back to the Natural Cycle soon, or, at least, in my Lifetime .. my favorite Seasons have always been Spring and Fall and they seem to be getting scarce .. :(

I think when I get Home, I'm going to fix me up one or three nice Mint Julep's .. I'll need to snag some Mint, but I'm good on the rest of it .. :) .. and/or a Coconut Gin and Tonic .. :)

Candy is Nice, but Liquor is Quicker .. ;)

Yep, me too. I love Spring best, then fall and then the rest. Summer is great for the flowers and my garden and then winter is lovely for the the "space" it provides. Now that I'm retired it's so enjoyable to watch the snow fall as long as we don't have to go out anywhere. I love the seasonal changes.

Speaking of mint. It turns out that there are many kinds of mint. I bought mint to make mojitos 2 years ago and planted it-in the ground-not a pot. Big mistake. It takes over. Turns out that it was more of a spearmint flavor. Certainly not what I was looking for. This year at the local nursery they had one called "mojito mint". WOW! Brought it home and planted it in a very big pot. We've been having great mojitos this summer, but it's starting to push the blooms and that means before long it won't be tasting very good. So, I clipped some for our enjoyment tonight. Oh yes! That's the good stuff!

LOL...I can relate...;) Too many times being called a Yankee...I'm neither a Northerner nor a Southerner....I am a transplanted Westerner...:)

Might also have something to do with the 'Marketplace' FB set up where you can sell and buy...;)

I don't believe I or Willie were stereotyping. We were both simply talking about it in the South.

And you're right about the North. I too have encountered it there too.

Good morning Fran, Bea. We're a bit foggy here. Other than the 99% humidity it's only going to 80 today so at least we won't cook when we go outside. Our daughter's fiancé is from CO and loves the cold. They're living in VA this past year and one day last week when it was so hot he stepped outside and said, "nobody told me we'd be living on the surface of the sun!"

Anybody have any experience with composters? I've been thinking of getting one for awhile. They have the tumbler kind which makes it easy to mix or the free standing one that requires mixing with a fork or shovel. We don't have a place for the open air kind and don't want to attract critters.

Exactly. I would rather go with tight dosage control. One might use it like 100 mg/ml nic, but since I want to take less ibuprofen, gabapentin, and acetaminophen, dropwise in water or coffee is better.

I just planted a mint garden with catnip, chocolate mint, mint, bee balm, peppermint, and lemon balm. I will separate it from the rest of my garden with pieces of siding from a construction job. Any that escapes other ways will be mowed. My garden is only six ft wide. I was told that if you pinch off the blooms it will be fine. It is salad stuff that tastes bad once it bolts.

You're probably right about that because I've been clipping off the blooms on the mint plant but the leaves were still very tasty last night. My basil plant however does not taste good once it blooms.

Good morning blizzardy loungefits. :) Hope you all have an excellent Sunday. I plan to.

I am in this sleep thing where I have to turn off the TV and close my eyes and I hate those cycles. My usual routine is to fall asleep to the TV that has not been working lately. Unfortunately. I know, sleep hygiene but it's so boring. I'm just going to have to though.

We had two. One my brother used a metal drum and ran a pole through it. Then cut an opening that had hinges and a latch. It was mounted on two posts and we just turned it.
Then we had the lazy composer. Just used a plastic garbage can and rolled it around the yard. I miss my compost and garden but physically can't do it anymore.
Good luck.

We got one similar to this Costco Wholesale many years ago. As we continue to get older (a good thing ;) ), not needing to wield a pitchfork to turn it is a good thing as well. Ours isn't wheeled, but not an issue for us.

One caveat with the tumble type - make sure it's high enough so you can get a wheel barrow (or similar cart) under it for dumping.

Hubs has been composting for over 30 years. In fact when we moved from the north we broyght our finished (ready to use) pile. Black gold, as it's called, takes about a year to be ready, couldn't leave it behind.

He has two piles. Each one is the size of a pallet at the back side. They are separated by another pallet in the middle and one on each side. He has a PVC pipe in the middle of each pile to vent. One piles the new stuff and the other one is the "cooking" one. He actually has downsized. At one point he had three because the best job is done by turning it over. So a pile would start at one end, get moved to the middle and end at the other end when ready to use.

About attracting critters. A properly maintained compost pile does NOT smell. Sometimes raccoons would visit it if we tossed fruit in it but not often because you never add meat products which is what would mainly attract them.

If you have any questions about the finer points let me know and I'll ask hubs but this link also has good info. BTW ours looks like the one in that article.
