We got room down here in Texas
I called management on Monday to come replace the batteries in the thermostat ...called again on Tuesday...no response... Was getting ready to raise the roof yesterday when I finally had someone call to say they were coming...

Heat is now on, but once again, only the radiator in the kitchen putting out any heat. I told the guy yesterday that the other two would need to be bled again. Can't seem to make these donkeys understand that I have the only thermostat for the entire building and if they want to save on the heating bill it's imperative that the radiators in my apartment are all functioning. That one little radiator in the kitchen can't put out enough heat to make it 3/4 of the way across the building to where the thermostat is located. Consequently that boiler must be going 24/7 attempting to reach the set temp, and the people in the apartment next door are having to open windows to keep from roasting!!...o_O

It's comfortable in here this morning, but I've got to start bugging them about bleeding the other 2 radiators. The guy yesterday dropped the set temp to 70 and once again the BS about how they are only required by state law to set it at 63..:-x I'm fine with 70, but don't like being told I'm wrong about the borough ordinance that requires 72....something the Borough Inspector told me has been in effect for more than 38 years!

Gripe of the Day .. (and, if anything pops into my Brain, there may be more .. ;))

Whatever happened to the serrated metal tear strips on Saran Wrap .. ?? Is it because I buy the Store Brand at Kroger instead of actual Saran Wrap that I am now deprived of the real metal strip .. ?? Instead, now having to deal with a Plastic Tear Strip that may as well not even be there at all .. I'd be better off cutting it with scissors .. o_O

I don't use a lot of this wrap .. a good size roll lasts me a pretty long time, so I can't really say when the metal strip disappeared .. all I know is, it's gone and, I suspect it's been gone for a while .. and it's sad ..

Is it because somebody cut themselves with the good 'ole metal strips .. ?? Is it that much cheaper to use plastic .. ?? Were people using the metal strips as weapons .. ?? .. Was there a Lawsuit claiming Metal Strips were a blight on Society .. ??

Did the Sham Wow guy invent an alternative box with a better tear off device and now he's pedaling it on an Infomercial that I've not seen .. ??

File this under the "Saga of the Shrinking Width of Toilet Paper" .. and, trust me, They are going to shrink the width of Paper Towels eventually, thus making all existing Paper Towels racks obsolete .. (other than the Vertical Ones .. ) .. :(
Lowering the bar so the weakest can make it over

Okay... Hadn't really been prepared to photograph my first attempt... Paint hasn't finished drying, so there's the inevitable glare caught from the flash on still wet paint, and crooked in the frame because of shaky hands... A better camera would help as well...

Done on an 8x10 canvas panel...cheaper than using my stretched canvases to experiment and learn on...;) My first attempt at a 'tree ring' pour...

this is absolutely beautiful! I saved it for a wallpaper on my ipad. It's very calming. Just love it :wub::wub:

Very nice, Sandra .. I could see you setting up at a Craft Fair next Spring / Summer when you've had some time to build up an Inventory .. :)

I decided to make the Wine Tour yesterday morning, and got lucky enough to score a room at a Hermann, MO B&B .. I've always admired this old place from the outside, it evokes the long ago days of the Riverboats along the Missouri .. a little bit creepy to boot, in a good way .. ( I like creepy, sometimes) .. :) .. the Bed was comfy, the room was cozy, I wished I could have had the Attic area, but, oh, well .. the owners are quite Hospitable, I had a nice breakfast earlier (no home made English Muffin bread, though .. :(), they had a "private blend" coffee that was very nice .. and, as a bonus, there is an old Cemetery nearby that dates to the mid 1800's or so ..

They let me stay till Noon, although checkout is supposed to be 11 AM .. quick shower and shave and I'll tool around some till maybe around 4:00 PM .. may hit a Casino in St Louis on the drive home for a minute .. :)

Thank you all for your wonderful comments on my first baby steps in painting...

@oldbroad ...you've just touched on something pertaining to how I feel about this kind of abstract painting... Whenever possible, I don't want to give a title to what I paint...I even chose to do that at times with my sculpting. Leaving it without a name lets the person viewing it interpret the painting however they feel...whatever they may see in it. Giving it a name directs ones thoughts to see what the artist has named it...;)

I've joined an acrylic pouring group. I don't post, but I look at all the pics and read the comments and questions. The only paintings without a name are from those asking "what shall I name this?". I always wonder why they think it's imperative to put a title on every single one...o_O

Enough of my meandering thoughts....catch y'all later...:)

Well hubs had another 350 mL drained today and it seems the cough is going away with the fluid…at least today.

He started coughing right after the first drain, and sometimes so hard he couldn't catch his breath. He's been on the strongest prescription cough suppressant and cough syrup and they worked somewhat but not too well. He still coughed a lot so he had at least 4 Halls per hour. That went on for 19 days and he couldn't walk or exercise or do much talking or he'd cough even worse. He hasn't had any of his cough meds today!!!

The PA who drained him said it's normal to cough for maybe an hour after the drain but she's never heard of 19 days. So we were joking that the first drain started the cough and maybe this second one will end it.

Keep your fingers crossed that this continues. He needs to start being active so he can get stronger. All this stuff has set him back by several weeks. Poor guy :(

And the medical bills for all this started coming today:mad:

Some years back, after my MIL's aortal valve replacement via open heart, she came up with a cough as well. They put her on an albuterin (iirc) nebulizer - sort of like an oversize mod ;) - which worked well for her. Cough drops were not an option, since the cough wasn't coming from her throat. Getting that much fluid from the lung doesn't seem to be a throat issue, to me anyway, and I'm certainly NOT a doctor. Maybe something to enquire about? :2c:

@DavidOck He had daily medicated breathing treatments while at the hospital. And we knew this cough was not a throat issue, it was related to the fluid in his pleural space but the Halls helped his throat that was irritated from coughing and exacerbating the cough.

Assuming he continues not to cough it's all good but I'd still like to know how, if a few hours coughing is normal, why my poor hubs coughed for 19 days. A doctor question.

I would have worried myself sick thinking of all sorts of horrible Reasons (COPD, lung cancer, CHF) if it wasn't for the 3 Ct scans, several chest x-rays, cardiac stress tests, EKGs, and chest ultrasounds he's had in the last couple months that pronounced all his organs in great health…except for those darn arteries that is.

P.S. you were up pretty late last night, is that normal for you?

Good morning Gracie and Bea. Looks like it's going to be a mild day today so maybe I'll finally get the Halloween decorations out. Stuff keeps coming up and and that job get put off. Actually, this is early for me - we've been known to put them out just before the Trick or Treaters show up!!

Bea, hope today is a much better day for your hubs!

Usually hit the sack around 10, but usually don't go online much after 9ish. MIL had some issues, threw me off :)

Easing irritations from the coughing is good, but stopping the cough reflex is better ;) Yeah, grill the doc!

My Daughter's neighborhood goes all out with Halloween decorations... They drive kids in from Reading to 'trick or treat' there...:)

Granddaughter had an early Halloween party this weekend. May I present my daughter, makeup courtesy of my 12 year old Grandson...;)
