Good morning Fran, Mary and Bea. We're waiting for this storm to start here around 4:00 today. Looks like it's going to mostly be rain with some snow mixed in with dropping temps. Oh joy.

Happy to see my snow prediction has been downgraded from 11" to 5" with ice...not happy at all with the real low temps that are following it...

Yep..just an hour away and frequently weather is entirely different for me... I have a good number of my friends locations on my phone's weather app....amazes me, that not always, but often, the only one with worse winter forecasts turns out to be Fran...

On Thursday, I got an SMS saying that my credit card was likely used in fraudulent activities. As I called my bank, turns out, it was... criminals helped themselves to about 350 Euros ($380), spent in german online shops for sports clothing, which raised red flags with the automatic fraud detection system, and only about an hour later, the card was shut down when someone in the USA tried to pay his visit to the dental doc with it.

I'm quite interested in
(A) how they got hands on my card data (bank told me a few things about this), and
(B) if the timely close coordination between the use in germany and the US was a coincidence.

Some years back, one of my CC's was hit for a Rolex, purchased in Dubai .. these guys were not screwing around and went full blast at the get go, no little test purchases .. AMEX promptly took care of it, so no worries there ..

There are any number of reasons why this happens .. Merchant Breach from a Company you've done business with, Bank Breach, Hacked B&M / Restaurant Breach, Processor Breach, Malwear installed on your machine whether you know it or not, etc ..

Once the info is obtained and used, there is a ready Underground Market with which to sell that Data to ..

And the breach, wherever, may not have been recent. Sometimes many months pass between the theft of numbers and their sale and use. Which does make it hard for the consumer to figure out where it went astray.

Been on a whirlwind with family since Thursday with little or no time on the computer which, surprisingly feels liberating. Starting to feel a bit tired!

Have a little time this morning before getting ready for Mass, so thought I'd stop by for a quick check-in.
Tomorrow everything goes back to normal, whatever, that means.

Ugh. I had my coffee this morning then went outside to clear the driveway. What a PIA. The darn snow blower that we had serviced didn't want to start so I started shoveling. The DH saw me, came out, did the exact same things I did to start it, had me pull the cord and it worked. ARGH! I can grumble, but it did save me a lot of effort. I am glad I went out first thing. By the time I got to the last bit of shoveling at the end (around the mailbox etc) that snow had gotten very heavy as the weather changed to freezing rain. The arms are tired and the DH is making me oatmeal - we switched roles today LOL. Afternoon agenda - R&V (relax and vape!).

It's not morning, so....

Good afternoon!

I'm staying in...there's about 4 or so inches of snow out there!

But , at least, the sun's shining, tho the temp is averaging around 20-25 degrees....and it's supposedly gonna stay there, give or take a few degrees.
Hope the shoveling guy gets here today..I'm renting a car tomorrow to do some errands n shopping n Dr.s. appt.
