It's been a loooong time. I welded for Brown & Root and lived in Corpus for a while... but then there was this sexual harassment deal with my boss -- I was 19 and he was about 60.... he didn't take it too kindly when I told him I wasn't having sex with ANYBODY for a job and especially not an old fart like him .... so I flew home and that was that.

LOL -- One other funny memory... of course my dad was furious that I went off with 3 guys from welding school to rent an apartment and work for B&R. We rented a 2 BR apt, and I got one of the bedrooms so I would have privacy. We were all so freakin' poor. Every day I had the same lunch -- cheese on bread lol. Even the illegals ate better than me lol. One of the company managers lived above us and his wife loved having another girl in the building to talk to. One of the guys I met at work turned out to be from a nearby town and he asked me out for a steak dinner one night. Heck yeah! I was starving to death. I had this pretty little pale yellow camisa that buttoned up the front and a button had come loose. I went to her, and she wanting to protect me sewed my shirt closed lol. Said, "if he tries, he ain't gettin' in there!" LOL.

Yep -- cause I was a HOT young thing lol. Nah -- really, he just wanted a kiss good night and I was happy with that. I was outta there before we ever had a chance to go out again. It was a good steak though

It was pretty freaky cause there I was on my own, far from home. Of course I can't use the EXACT words I used with him but you know the "f" word was in there.... Yep, he thought he saw an opportunity and he was gonna take it. There were no other women on site other than the ones who worked as secretary's in the trailers and they would just look at me and raise their eyebrows and whisper like I was trash or somethin'. The illegals weren't any better. None could speak english at all and they did not want a girl as a welding buddy. I had to carry a stick when I went to the porta potty because they would come try to jerk open the door while I was in there. I would brace the stick through the handle across the frame to keep them out. Idiots. I'll tell ya, I've had some life experiences!

I guess they made us into what we are today though!
