Getting ready to go to the Sweet Corn Festival, hoping to find some juicy, flavorful, Michigan peaches. Last year, a late freeze limited the peach crop in Michigan. :( I have bought some peaches in the store....they were no good. I do spend a lot of money on bad produce. Seems whomever is buying for the store does not taste the stuff first. Sometimes I take it back....more often I just pitch it. If there is an employee around in the produce department, sometimes I ask to taste before I buy.

Yesterday, my regular Friday client asked me what I wanted for lunch. I told her maybe a small fruit salad, but whatever she chose would hopefully be light. When she went to the store, she brought me back a DIY fruit salad from the store's salad bar with a dressing of cottage cheese, whipped cream and peanuts. That was plenty, but she also got me huge fruit tray to take home for the weekend. The kind one would take to a party. It weighed 5 lbs. The $16.99 price tag was still on it.

Pre-made fruit trays may seem a little expensive, but the deli makers have to make sure all the fruit used is sweet and ripe. No waste. Perhaps I may buy my fruit like that in the future. My tray has strawberries, kiwi, honeydew, cantaloupe, green grapes, red grapes, peaches, watermelon and blueberries. It was all arranged on a beautiful crispy, curly-leaf lettuce bed. I went for my favorite first, kiwi.

I stopped by Vons on the way home for the Friday $5 specials and picked up two 2-lb cans of the premium $11.98 Yuban coffee for $5 ea.:) Bought a $7.99 deli-roasted chicken for $5 for Fergie. Forgot whipped cream for the fruit salad, but I have plenty of yogurt in the fridge. Saved $23 on my store trip.:)

I was going to thank you for this also, Terry....but late night Tink beat me to it. It does look like a good toy for Hellraiser....if I can find it. I am still researching. And I wish my old cat would play with the new one like that. I have seen a couple of glimmers....she does like to go where he is playing and watch him....even occasionally acting like she wants to join in. Baby steps in this complex relationship. And he is starting to realize the spray bottle means back off.

Good afternoon Beach.

Glam...I found these 2 on ebay last night while sipping whiskey to get to sleep. They might be more than you want to pay though.

Glam, until you find what you want, maybe you could try a bottle of bubbles for the cats to chase together.

You might even learn a new trick while you're at it ........... :D

Heya Sun!:) Yep, we've all seen the kitty in the bubble, but I never tire of it ... so cute ... couldn't resist:laugh:

So glad to see you noticed the DQ guy ... looks like your spirit is rekindling. Mentioning how your DH helped out with the other kitten really touched my heart. So who cares about a little poo 'n pee on one's shirt.;)

I'll save the link for tonight, Jag. Watching a 1998 movie with Bruce Willis on YT called Armageddon. Wondering if anyone has seen it and if it's any good. Seems okay and pretty funny so far.

It's an entertaining movie, lots of action. That female shuttle co-pilot is cute. :D

The Omega-3 story has appeared in NY Times and on CNN. Here is an article from the American Cancer Society, with a link to another article. As is with most studies, it is still inconclusive.

The best advice I read there is "moderation and variety".

Sea, The Fifth Element was great!

I wouldn't normally watch a movie titled Armageddon, but Bruce Willis starring is what tempted me. I already know what Armageddon is going to be like, so I could never stand to actually watch the graphics of it.

My favorite Bruce Willis movie was The Fifth Element. Beautiful opera in it too.

I like this one. My favorite(s) is probably the Die Hard(s). Surprisingly they were all good. The first two were the best though.
