We are a balmy 13 here The mutts are snug in their heated room I put them up a little early because it is so cold and windy.

I can't even imagine that. Does it hurt to breathe outside? And does it damage the trachea? Gosh, what if someone had a sniffy nose ... seems like it would freeze chunks of ice in their nostrils.

Until you have been outside in something like that....you are right, you can't imagine it. I was out for 1 minute today. I went out on the front porch to dump a bag of stale tortilla chips for the birds and the wind blew it right out of my hand, so I had to traipse into the yard, the drifts were thigh deep, and I thought I might freeze to death in that one minute. I cannot imagine what the wild animals are doing.
